I get it, because everyone looks the same in the place that he came from, Roger desires to become multiple unique and interesting individuals instead of just sticking with one easy to manage persona who is as common as any other human. He could just dress as an accountant named Bob forever but instead chooses to be a troublemaker named Ricky Spanish or a psychic named Zelda in favor of standing out. Of course he would still be Bob sometimes for the sake of being different, but the important part is that he stands out from everyone else.

@@puppyhowler It was never intended to be a movie, that's false info, but yeah, there's no arguing that it's a great episode. American Dad has lots of episodes that give off this vibe or are wholesome. Almost all of the Christmas episodes in the series, The Tearjerker mini series, The One That Got Away, Rapture's Delight, May the Best Stan Win, Hot Water (albeit the shitty ending ruined the overall episode), Steve and Snot's Test Tubular Adventure, The Longest Distance Relationship, The Unincludeds, Fart-Break Hotel, Great-Space Roaster, The Two Hundred, Rabbit Ears and A Star is Reborn. Of course there's many more incredible episodes but those give off the biggest 'movie' vibes.

Jeff losing his hat and not caring because he’s too busy being distraught over realising how badly he’s undervalued Hayley is just 😭
@idreadFell365 Жыл бұрын
The “how badly” is inaccurate because later it is revealed in that episode that king had the memory showcasing monster deliberately leave out the good memories of him being a great BF.
@Mugruncher Жыл бұрын
@@idreadFell365 he’s nice, and does do nice things for Hayley and I love them as a couple, but he’s often in his own world so he can also be inconsiderate while not noticing (“HE TOOK ALL THE SYRUP FRANCINE”) and in this moment he’s forced to confront how that’s affected Hayley. And it’s SAD to him. Because he’s a good person who genuinely loves Hayley. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t care about being confronted with that behaviour, he’d be like “so what? I’m not that bad and if I am, I don’t care” He clearly wasn’t fully aware of how regularly he’s been inconsiderate, and when he SEES IT, that hurts BECAUSE he cares. So yeah there’s a lot of good in that relationship, undervalue might be the wrong word for the consistent inconsiderate behaviour due largely to him not paying attention rather than being deliberately cruel

I always liked the scene in family guy where Stewie sings Anna Murray to Brian ❤️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZWylIdufs5jbdE
@FYCY2 жыл бұрын
I think Family Guy is just doesn't work when it's serious that was a show based on gags and shock humor like South Park early seasons was purely based on shock humor alone and when that formula was dipping the evolved I think Family Guy stucked to what worked and it's stagnated and when it tried to evolve into something more people didn't take it real serious. They have those "deep" episodes and like them or hate them they don't really work for the context of the show.
@Aztesticals2 жыл бұрын
I've actually found Seth to be really good at writing. It's just that he does so much voice acting that as he said he doesn't even write his own shows. Watch the episode where he got challenged to make no cutaway in family guy. Best episode it ever had. It's the one where Stevia and Brian discuss suicide. And episodes like this series with the Jeff's gone he wrote more of. He mostly voice acts

@@Aztesticals yeah, I hated that episode.

This whole episode, if extended by maybe 30-45 minutes, would make a fantastic standalone movie. It's perfect, American Dad has always been a special show with a staff that cares unlike Family guy where things like "character development" or "plot" or basic goddam consistency doesn't exist...
@amyschildgamerlive45193 жыл бұрын
Consistency? The pilot episode of American dad shows stan meeting Roger and taking him home for the first time. SEVERAL episodes throughout the series show Roger having been there for years prior though. Thats just one example.
@xxxCrackerJack501xxx3 жыл бұрын
@@amyschildgamerlive4519 Compared to a lot of shows, like Family Guy, it's more consistent and often times there's explanations for inconsistencies. But more importantly the characters act in ways true to their personalities, with only a few outlying examples. To be fair I am just going off the first like 7 seasons mostly I haven't seem much after that so maybe things got Simpsons-level quality for all I know
@amyschildgamerlive45193 жыл бұрын

I think the most upsetting thing about this is how true the song is. It's a song about a lonely man having a dream where he finally meets someone. They then realize they are dreaming but don't want to wake up knowing she won't be there. The ending line reminds the listener that the song is to be taken literally and that exploring it to try and find a happy ending or different meaning (as some songs do) is like trying to live in the dream. There is nothing there. There is no happy ending. Just a miserable man.
@TheSapphireLeo8 ай бұрын

The fact it was sung by a (what I assume to be) a bald, ginger basement dweller made me ROFL irl.
@humphreybumblecuck51516 ай бұрын
I think it’s not a literal dream but a waking dream like an illusion. His love with his woman has turned out to only be an illusion (she doesn’t really love him, maybe she’s cheated on him) but he’d rather keep pretending than be alone It’s a much more brutal song than you think Like if Dale Gribble found out about his wife cheating he could belt out this song afterwards. I think that’s the proper context
@humphreybumblecuck51516 ай бұрын
Also his likening himself to the blind implies it’s perhaps his first love, he was inexperienced and a sight for sore eyes to him was awful majestic. His fair weather lover is truly a monster. And he must contend with his illusion shattering
@GodRabbit90Ай бұрын
I actually don't think it's either a dream or illusion, but a real lover that is not fit for him, but he'd rather imagine her as the special one that is perfect than breaking up and being alone.

It's not a two-parter, but it is part of that arc where Roger tricks Jeff into going into space after Jeff discovers that Roger is an alien (which Stan was very careful about in the FOX episodes, because it meant that the CIA would capture Roger and the Smiths would be in trouble for harboring an alien).

His singing is, unexpectedly transcendent. Downside, I can’t make out all the words, so I’m not sure what he’s trying to say. I think the point is that people fall deeply in love, freed from the darkness of being alone, but when the delve deeper into the relationship, they find there was nothing there in the first place.

The song ironically, is about nothing! it’s all up to the listeners interpretation. “We are obsessed with finding meaning and the band holds up a mirror to the listener wherein we inject our own meaning. Even when they tell us it means nothing and there isn’t a point beyond being a reflective experience in and of itself, we still look for a bigger point. Any attempt to glean more is missing the point entirely.”

It's actually a very touching original song. Most songs from this show are silly novelty songs about a more concrete person, place, or thing. This is a poetic song about love.
