I remember the very early years of its idea, at least 20 years ago. It was slated to be a “high-end” mall that would employ locals and they would try to get much of Manhattan to come in to shop there. Did they ever add a train line from Manhattan? I left that area around 2007.

I think this mall is doing OK considering it was plagued with challenges in its construction resulting from the 2007 financial crisis, lenders pulling out, litigation over construction halting it several times, and an opening day that occured during the COVID-19 lockdowns which lead to some tenants pulling out or downscaling their operations which impacted the vacancy rate. It is like that this mall did not get the full treatment at opening.

Okay. I went back after seeing just some of this video, because the first time we barely covered it. With its history and all, I thought was a huge waste of time, space, and money. But hear me out- thus mall is a must, and it’s a necessity. Not because of the shopping, but because of the attractions. If you have a family with young kids, (and some cash, I might add), there is literally nothing else like it on the east coast! We are mid 50s and late 60s we spent Six Hours walking this whole thing and having something to eat! The stores-no big deal and nothing you can’t get at another mall a short drive away. This was Friday before Labor Day and it was busy, busy, busy with families. The pool-full. The ski slope-busy. The skating rink was pretty empty, but then you had the kids riding those motorized horse things all over the space where you rent them. You wanna eat? You have everything from fast food junk to some rather expensive restaurants. One of them even has live music on Friday and Sunday afternoon. In between, all kinds of ethnic foods along with Italian baked goods and a Swiss chocolatier! I haven’t watched this entire video so I don’t know what was covered. Little museums, an aquarium, Legoland, plus whatever is in the video, not to mention the slow Ferris wheel with a view. All this to say, the amusement parks and the seaside boardwalk attractions must close for the winter-this thing gives you a similar experience YEAR ROUND. If it closes, it’s because somebody really messed up. Use some of that store space for more attractions like bumper cars, go carts and some of the things he’s showed us in other malls. Top it off with a real IMAX theater, and this thing can last for decades. It’s that good, and I don’t even have kids.

I like this mall. Now it has some problems, For one thing the top floor looks very dead and you can tell they are in debt. The reason Mr Beast Burger isn't good is because their food is made by ghost kitchens and not by the actual restaurant. I wouldn't mind snowboarding down the ski slope or going to the water park, but the food options could be better.

It was a good effort, but it looks like it's not going to work out. We'll see.

Don't make people pay for parking. There was a mall in Columbus OH that did that, and I went to other malls even thought I liked the mall.

I live close to this mall yet I refuse to go because they charge for parking.

Is this what was called Mall Of America at one time, or is that a different one?

Is this a “one upsmanhip” of the mall of America.

Not really, they're both owned by the same Canadian company along with the west Edmonton mall.

@@AirplaneDoctor_What’s crazy is at Mall of America you’ll occasionally see ads for American Dream, and while I do understand why it’s promoted, it just feels weird considering you’re already at the better version of AD.

MOA has more foot traffic and occupancy from what I can see here.

Is there a Macy's or Dillards?

where are the benches??don't know if that's an intentional choice to prevent "unwanted" folk from lingering, or if they just wanted the interior to look as depressing as possible, but you better hope you don't have a disability/ or can walk for extended periods of time. not a fan of those circular thingies around 17:48, they look so small you'd definitely be bumping booty with a stranger. nice video btw i'm new

Such a waste of resources. Ridiculous. A gigantic mega-building just to house all the same stores and businesses that already exist everywhere else. Nothing special about it. Only kind of cool thing is the aquarium and skating rink.

I mean… according to recent reviews this place is packed usually. Some complaining TOO packed. Almost 30,000 reviews with 4.5 stars. So when exactly did you go.. like first thing in the morning?
