There are many different species of eel all over the World: American eel, European eel, Japanese eel, Australian eel.... All have a similar lifestyle. In Indonesia you have two different species: The long finned eel and the short fin eel!

All commercial fisheries for glass eels and elvers should stop. Only fisheries that provide glass eels or elvers for stocking them into difficult to reach inland waters should be allowed.
