Kevin, @ 5:57 you say that meringue is "a" food. Is it ok to say "a food" ? Could it be a type of food?

Hi Kevin, at 1:59, why does fever become an uncountable noun when it's dengue fever? We say "to have a fever", but "to have dengue fever." Thanks!
@fredylopez2477Ай бұрын
Well, those are contradictions of the language. BUT. If you think deeply or analyze it you'll see that you can have one fever but if you get sick again you can have fever again so you've had two feverS etc etc..... so fever can be a countable noun sometimes. And to have "dengue fever" means that it's a specific fever, in this case it's an uncountable noun. But if you get sick several times you can have several feverS too. Well, that's the way I see it. But like I texted above those are contradictions of the language and you gotta learn them 'cause that's how it works pal, just learn those expressions, don't worry about the "why's". Don't you think ?.
