American Express Platinum and Gold: Should You Get both?

I've found a combination of the Platinum, Gold, and Everyday Preferred earns a ton of points for me. I amassed over 200,000 MR points in less than 6 months. Of course, it all depends on your lifestyle.

I love my Gold card. I use it for all my dining and groceries. I feel with that value, I have definitely erased the annual fee.

Yeah I think the Gold is one of the easiest cards to offset with confidence because it has such great everyday spend categories. For some people, travel expenses really aren’t very consistent. But groceries and dining? Not the case.

Question? So if i upgrade my gold card to platinum do i still have to pay 250 anual fee for both cards if i keep both?

The Gold card isn't really a travel card. I have both of these and the Green card. The Green and Platinum are their travel cards

Great video thanks right now I use the united airlines explorer card the best buy card the city rewards plus card and the m life las vegas card from the bank of Omaha I am not sure what amrican express credit card to get yet .

If you go to a store which sells both groceries and other goods will the gold card give you the points for groceries in all cases? Stores such as Meijer and Walmart and Target?

I believe stores like Walmart will code as a superstore and not receive the 4x. There are some exceptions for things like this though but I wouldn’t expect 4x at places like that.

If you go to a NEIGHBORHOOD Walmart, you're fine. A NEIGHBORHOOD Walmart is considered a supermarket as well as Krogers, Publix, Winn Dixie, Shop Rite, etc. It's the Walmart SUPERSTORES that are no good. For the superstores, I use the blue business plus instead. For regular supermarkets, I use the regular no annual fee EveryDay card, which is why I resisted not going to the EveryDay Preferred or my Blue Business Plus at supermarkets or any place not 2x normally with my green card since the BBP which is also no annual fee since it's no annual fee even with the $6000 cap on the EveryDay that i haven`t passed since I got it back in Feb 20, 2022. The blue business plus gives me 2X per dollar for the 1st $50,000 spent each calendar year I use at Target, Wal-Mart superstores and Sam's Club. Then its 1X per dollar after that. The BBP is my catch all credit card.

In some cases, yes. But if you contact the property before your stay and confirm your elite status they may choose to honor your elite status.
