I don't think these families are the ones truly struggling, my family doesn't worry about dance or swim lessons, or matial arts, and my family doesn't get $30 haircuts, never have, our local salons charge about $10 but we still can't afford that in South Central Kentucky, we cut our own hair for each other and have for years, we now keep our AC set to 80, and in the winter it was at 55, but this has been something we've done now a few years, but this year with inflation its very much harder, but what luxury can we cut? we don't even have our own internet we share it with all our neighbors using extenders so we pay $10 each, since our homes are family and friends it works to keep us all with internet, our Phones were free from Cricket as a promotion last year and our bill is $25 per month on a 5 person family plan, we've never had luxuries and we've never been able to, not even working our fingers to the bones, so now we're also eating food that Kroger is about to throw away, because if you buy it on the date its going to expire our local kroger lowers the price sometimes as cheap as $1 for ground beef, or $0.25 cents for hotdogs, or $0.50 for bags of lettuce, we've been making cuts and changes in our lives, but if we came on your news channel it wouldn't be as pretty as this video was, and there are millions of American families going through this struggle, and you wonder why so many Americans are fed up?

@@thelittlebluecottage6091 exactly, I've never owned a pool, none of my family members has a pool, and our community pool is $10 to get in 1 time, its city owned in the name of a prominent family of course who donated the money to have it build, but somehow it being public and mostly funded for by a rich local, its still inaccessible to the majority of our town, because over 90% live on $7.25 or some don't even have jobs, we have people in my town I know personally who no longer have running water (how is that even possible??? and no one says anything!) our neighbors right now I kid you not, are 8 young people 2 older people, living in 1, 2 bedroom trailer together they have bunk beds set up, they live this way they say because they can no longer afford to live in a home by themselves, these people have no AC and are right now in their backyard all 10 of them setting under a tree laughing playing music and trying to just survive a life that barely seems worth surviving

👍I agree @nomadic traveler This was a poor example of a 'struggle' 🙄 There's simple, but (sometimes) more time consuming ways to lower food costs. @1:29 - *_Frozen Waffles" - do you know how many you can make from scratch? - A LOT!!_* No waffle maker? Make your own pancake mix. (make them healthier with partial ww flour, chopped fruit, etc.) Freeze, pop in the toaster. (or find a waffle maker second hand, if you're really 'must' have waffles - I think froz. waffles are like cardboard, personally) On that note, you can make homemade table syrup for VERY cheap. (I'm Canadian, so don't dare call it *Maple* syrup) >> *_Create meal plans based on what's *On Sale!_** Instead of 'chicken', put 'protein' on the list. Do a few meatless meals. - Don't fall into the trap of too many cheap, processed carbs. Frozen veg. is usually just as nutritious as fresh (not to mention convenient) Even though it's out of season, soup & stew can be full of nutrition & inexpensive. Always stock up on core products when on sale. Try non-branded products if you haven't already. Cut 'extras' WAY down.. cookies, chips, ice cream aren't necessities. Homemade cookies are so much better anyway. Dry beans, rice are nutritious & extremely inexpensive. Pre-planning is the key.

I basically don’t go anywhere any more. I quit volunteering and working part time because it costs more in gas than I make in pay. I’ve cut out nearly all meat and for the first time ever, am using a food pantry. Instead of purchasing greens, I’ve discovered a field full of dandelions whose leaves are edible, similar in taste to kale. The smaller ones can be eaten raw, and the larger, more bitter leaves I boil in salted water. Instead of going every Sunday, I’ve cut back going to church once a month, either that or I can’t afford my medication. Two or three times per week I take a half dose of my medication in order to get a few extra doses per month. The families portrayed here aren’t struggling. It would be very nice to struggle across that pool or have an entire trunk full of groceries! And haircuts? I haven’t been to a salon in decades. I keep my hair at mid length, very simple to cut by myself. Then I put it up in a loose bun or French braid. Kids’ activities? Karate, swimming class, music lessons, gymnastics, sports? There were nine of us growing up. We played outside on the lawn and went swimming in the brook. We didn’t have a room filled with toys. We had a few toys, some board games, two bikes, a scooter and homemade stilts. We shared our toys and made our own out of whatever we could find. They needed to show some families that were truly suffering, not just giving up a few luxuries.

Live in a rent controlled apartment building on purpose, drive a paid for zero rust 2006 paid off vehicle, shop thrift stores for everything, shop grocery day olds and eat tonight, have a small vegetable garden on balcony, cook large batches of mostly vegetarian meals so there is always something to eat at home and prevent takeout dinners, find inexpensive or free entertainment, got a higher paying position at a job I can walk to, only drive for errands and do them in one day to save on gas, cut and dye my own hair, do my own nails/pedicures, stay healthy so zero prescription drug costs, etc etc. It can be done. Not being able to eat out or take vacations is NOT a sacrifice. People don't realize how much they spend every month on constant and unnecessary expenditures, such as a coffee at Starbucks, soda, or pizza. Making a cup of coffee at home or making your own pizza from scratch is cheaper and healthier. Budgeting and savings should be a norm in both the good and the bad times. Taking a global perspective, this is nothing in comparison to what millions in other parts of the world deal with day in and day out. A reality check on the word "sacrifice" may be in order here.

@greg lewis Exactly what Im saying Greg. Supply and demand. Im sure you have heard of it. Go to your garage, window or wherever you house or park your vehicle(s), You will see the demand. Here is where I get frustrated Gregory, is the average price vehicle on the road today is 35 to 40k$. I dont know you but if I was a wagering man, I would wager your current vehicle(s) cost about that much if not more. If you have that much to spend on one then putting gas in it should not cause you to complain. You made that financial decision. If you thought gas would stay at 2 or 3$ a gallons for eternity then you needed to be awaken from the delusion. And fyi gas prices were well over 4$ in 2008 before the financial and housing crisis. Wash rince repeat. Same people complaining then are still complaining now. You learned nothing from the past so you repeat it. So yes Greg it is very much your fault.

It's the stimulus checks that did this and pork and fat spending that was snuck into the stimulus bills by Democrats. Barely any of that money went to covid related stuff. They write those bills over 3000 pages long so that people won't read it. It's intentional. They know that dementia Joe will sign anything they put in front of him so it's their chance of a lifetime window to push through a much as they can. It's killing us though with inflation.

I understand all of the frustrations and issues with the rising costs and inflation and the impact it is having on American people. However, you do also have to admit that many Americans in general are very selfish, greedy, self entitled, self absorbed, and too materialistic and they don't know how to plan, budget, or manage their money or cost of spending wisely. It is important that people start to become more frugal with their money and only buy what they're going to use or what they only really need. Many Americans eat out too much and go out to shop too much without really considering or thinking about the future. Hopefully, this inflation can teach both Americans a lesson and make them understand the consequences of spending too much money or buying things that they don't really need.

That's right.... they're getting an average of $600 every two weeks. Rent is $700, that leaves you with $500 for the rest of the month....spend about $200 on the bills, now you're at $300. If you have kids...cut their toys expenses, no candy, no video games...only shop at goodwill stores for their school clothes or even go to donation places like the salvation army. These people can't budget at all. And for food...stack up on noodles, lunch meat, and water. We need to get more billions to that poor country. This country people don't need anything. They're just selfish. One lady was in line trying to buy a big box of name brand cereal. Selfish and can't budget....lady, drink a tall glass of water and learn how to not be soo selfish.

Using skills my parents taught me decades ago if times became financially hard. Make do and cutback. Cook fresh food that’s healthier and cheaper than process and junk food. Get a second job or better job if you need more funds in making ends meet. Learn to cut your own hair, dye your own hair, manicure your own nails, do your own pedicure, cut your own grass and get healthier, plan your route when you drive, use coupons, drink water it’s healthier, sell stuff you don’t wear or use, save your money for things you really really really want to buy or do, learn to bike for short nearby errands, use public transportation, eat less meat it’s healthier, maybe you have been living above your means and now you really need to adjust and come back to earth etc. The list could go on and on. Thanks mom and dad for the lessons you taught me. Yes times are hard, but ask any real senior citizen over 80 years old and they’ll tell you they have seen harder times and made it. One major lesson taught by my parents was get everything you can from your public school education. Don’t be a fool or distraction in school. Behave and listen to everything the teacher is teaching you Without a good educational foundation of knowledge you are pretty much doomed in this world. Go to vocational school get a trade ie AC/Heating, welder, pipe filter, truck driver, construction, brick layer, etc, join the military, go to college , start your own business etc. With limited or no ability to read, write, do simple math and reason your success in life above the poverty line is extremely challenging. Life brings about changes especially when there’s war and health issues globally in this world.

Don't bother with dating sites. Get to know people in person. Talk to people in your community when you're running errands and give them a chance to get to know you. Volunteer when you can or join an organization. It can take a while and consistency, but sometimes this is how introductions start. If you have a religious belief, find a nice church congregation (larger may be better). Attend when you can, get to know people, stay on top of activities even when you may not be able to participate. If they podcast their service, listen to those on the road. If it doesn't lead to someone you meet and marry, you'll still grow personally, have a support group, and a few good friends. Many say they can't find a good partner, but I wonder if they hold themselves to the same standards in their personal conduct and private lives (not speaking of you personally - just a general comment)? I know from my friendships there are high-quality, "salt-of-the earth" type women who are looking for the same....you may just be looking in the wrong places.

@Gerald Poole So you really think Joe Biden is doing a great job (meaning that most presidents with the same circumstances would be enduring even higher inflation, worst job prospects, etc.?). Joe Biden is doing a great job because he minimizing the pain when a generic president wouldn't do nearly as good a job as minimizing the economic/social pain as Joe Biden. That's what you MUST be saying if you are not being sarcastic.

I noticed the other day that the U.S. dollar is worth .75 cents to the Canadian dollar. I don't ever remember a time in my life where it was flip flopped the other way around like that. It's always been the Canadian dollar was worth about .75 cents to the American dollar.

Not one interview of a first time home buyer or renter who saw a rate increase of 20% or more? Housing , food and gas are all up significantly, these are basic 101 things. If one of those things is up it's bad but people can budget around it, if everything is up then there is no getting around it :(

I have to work 7 days a week up to ten hrs a day to just survive, I'm not living. Something has to give. I drive for a living and it cost me 60 a day in gas I might make 100.00 to 120 that makes it 40-60 a day after food and what is needed it's over. Some days I do not eat to pay my bills! For many of us the struggle is past real and it's not new!
