Welcome to Malaysia. Jalan Alor food street has tourist prices. Try these places nearby. Restoran Chee Meng for chicken rice, Mon Chinese Beef Roti (also available at Pavilion food court), Alor corner nasi lemak (breakfast only, spicy), Soong Kee Beef Noodles at Lot 10 food court and Hameediyah (from Penang) multi-concept dining next to Damascus for Nasi Kandar (indian mixed rice, spicy). I can post more locations if you need.

@@thetraveling3 I'm trying to verify current generation of restaurants as well. Some are retired or moved elsewhere. I'll be hunting for best Hokkien mee (big fat noodles) in the city center. Also, you can find many Malay dishes (mostly spicy) like Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, Laksam and others at Kampung Baru. Ramly burger and satay stalls opens in the evenings. Many chinese stalls at ICC Pudu. You can get rare Chicken Rice Balls (unique to Malacca) there. Be there before 11am because it will get extremely crowded. Try Asam Laksa Petaling Street (spicy) infront of the wet market when you visit Chinatown. Lai Foong Lala (clam) noodles (pricey) is nearby as well.

Within South East Asia, our capital city KL competitors in tourism are definitely Bangkok and Singapore. while Bangkok is great for single or couple travellers who seeks "fun" entertainments and Singapore is good too but kinda on the expensive side, so we tried a different apporach; to make our tourism sectors affordable with family oriented & kids-friendly as possible at the same time exposing the next generations to the harmonies & co-existience of multiracials multireligious and multiculturals aspect of Malaysians. Thanks for visiting us & hope u enjoyed ur stay. 🙏🏼❤

If you plan on staying in Malaysia for a week or two, go visit Genting Highlands (about slightly more than an hour's driving time), recommended to stay 1 night there (might need a jacket as it's cold up there) and don't book your stay at Amber court (run down and known haunted) since you travel with a daughter. For great and very reasonably priced food, go to ICC Pudu food court between 8am to 11am as some food stalls are closed after 2pm and only go there on weekdays as weekends are very crowded. Buy portion for 1 person and share among 3 of you, you'll be able to try lots of variety. Go early if possible and you don't call it breakfast or lunch as you'll be food feasting there. The value (price vs food quality) you guys get will be unforgettable, much better than Jalan Alor. ICC Pudu is also not very far away from Jalan Alor, via Grab car, it's only about 15 minutes away from Jalan Alor. Remember, you can request for less chili or No chili if spiciness is not your thing, in Malaysia, less chili usually means it's still spicy. Good luck and enjoy your stay in Malaysia.

And before I forget, if you guys like to watch different species of birds, just 10 minutes away (driving time) from Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square) you can go to KL Bird Park which is currently the world's biggest "free flight" aviary. Google for entrance fees before going and you can find many KZbin videos about KL Bird Park.

Welcome to the land of foodies, Malaysia. So far I noticed that you guys have been trying a good variety of local foods. Just to share a simplified map of Malaysian food culture. Do try out the Malaysian Kopitiam (Local Chinese), Mamak(Local Indian) and Warung(Malay) food and drink culture. These are places where the locals eat and spend their time with family and friends. These places are more pocket friendly, and the foods are more authentic and mainstream in terms of varieties. Enjoy your time here in the food capital of the world. Cheers!😊

How many days do you need in Kuala Lumpur? This really does depend on what you are wanting to get out of your visit to Kuala Lumpur. If you are visiting for the first time and simply want to take in some of the highlights as a tourist, then I would recommend 3 - 5 days to explore the city. However, if you are travelling and remote working at the same time, Kuala Lumpur is a great place to base yourself for a few weeks. There’s lots going on here and it is a really easy city to navigate.
