I really like how you made the effort to make sure nobody would be too embarassed and could enjoy the meeting. As far as I know, japanese are well aware of how difficult their culture can be for foreigners and they tolerate a lot, but teaching your mom things surely helped her to feel more comfortable before meeting your in-laws and also "break the ice" faster and more easily when they realize she knows a lot more than they would expect from a foreign person. Your thoughtfulness is really wholesome and should be an example of how to behave when dealing with different cultures. It makes things so much easier when you embrace the differences and try to learn about each other.

This was the most wholesome video I think I've watched this decade. The honest efforts to communicate, united by the love each side of your family has for both you and your husband is heartwarming. Your mother and in-laws just seem like genuine people to boot. The world needs more of this

This looks like a LOVELY 🥰 ❤ first meeting. They were so nice during the first INTRODUCTION with each other. TOMMY’s parents are so happy, gracious and giving. It’s absolutely EXCITING to see TOMMY arrive in the US. Thanks for sharing this experience.

I made a comment on your channel from a time back about a time in the late 70s of when my roomie and I were in Japan in OgakiGifu visiting the parents of our college dorm-mate (Japanese) when I was in college in Ashland, Oregon. I made a comment about the neighbor farm ladies in Ogaki pulling my eyelids down to check out the colors of my pupils. I can't believe it has been so long. Anyhow, my point today is that it's so nice to see people today living in Japan who don't surprise me. I had a similar experience with my roommate's unmet fiance's parents in Japan (long story). Their daughter was in the US and invited me and my roommate from Ogaki living in Oregon to visit them while we were on our way driving through her home while we were driving along the North Sea. Their hospitality and joviality was boundless. It made me chuckle and feel warm and sure sent the memories shooting back.
