That is so real to me. I'm literally met some of the nicest most caring people in the ambulance on the ride to the hospital or mental asylum after another OD or breakdown. This is absurdly good! Long time fan of American Football. So much I could say about how wonderful this is! Here's my checklist: - Immaculately clean instrumental tone (read: telecaster). - swelling/crescendoed dynamics - Arpeggio's - Polyrythmn - Male/Female vocal harmonies - Highly polished structure - Midwestern Emo sensibilities - Math rock sensibilities - Lyrics that are relatable for the audience (most of us grown-ass adults with families, still coping with the lingering emotional baggage that made Mike's songs solid gold to us). - Horns. Thank God they kept this attribute record to record! Of course, there is more to it. But those are some good reasons to keep this record in high rotation.

A formative part of my high school and college days involved a Kinsella or two. My niece loves Paramore. I'd knock it. We'd pick at each other's bands. We both sent each other this album in the mail. Arrived at each place, same day. The phone call afterwards was just two people laughing. My brother (jokingly) says: "You see? That sad bastard music is genetic!". AF was on his Spotify top list the next week. 😂 And my better half let my niece have her old Rainer Maria shirt. Polyvinyl is for the family.
