The whole club singing/song culture in Europe is a spill over from their bar/pub singing traditions that are still strong over there. Those traditions died in America over a hundred years ago. There may be a few rare exceptions here and there but people for the most part just don’t do drink singing at all here in America like they do in the U.K. A lot of the soccer club songs in U.K. are just old drinking songs with the words changed.

One of the worst stings in history is who gets to sing last. Because in defeat, the losing team has to sing their alma mater to their fans. Then have to join the opposing team on the opposite side of the field as the victors sing. It’s a testament to strength and humility amongst men who are future brothers in arms. But once a year we come together to remind the navy that if you’re gonna fight a war, better men don’t fight from boats. Go Army Beat Navy.

Most sports in the US don't really have singing the way soccer does. We have chants and in sports like our football it's about making noise in certain situations. Singing in our football wouldn't really make sense bc there's so many breaks in the action. You'll never hear anything louder than a football stadium when the home team's defense is in the field on 3rd down in a big situation, especially from a team that plays indoors. It's literally everyone just screaming as loud as they can. After Marshawn Lynch's run for Seattle in the playoffs, the noise made registered on seismographs as a mini earthquake

Euro dudes - What’s the “Tailgating” scene like over there? I suppose, logistically because of where the stadiums are located after many, many decades (often before cars were a thing), it’s impractical. For those not in-the-know, most American Football (pro and college) stadiums have a large area at or near the stadium where folk bring their cars, campers, etc. (usually early in the morn) and set-up generators, barbecue grills, tents, tables and chairs (I once saw a small swimming pool) and hang out partying while watching or listening to the game. Even if they have tickets, they spend little or no time in the stadium. You can tell that some of these folk have, or are, spending _thousands…tens of thousands…_ of bucks each weekend on their set-ups and “booze picnic.” I know the Pub Scene is big near the fields and fills the void in most places, but ya’ll got anything similar to the outdoor fest near the matches, especially with the newer places? 🤔

I was taken to an American football game to see Saints/Vikings at the Superdome in New Orleans LA... although that stadium was extremely loud, it wasn't continuous... once the game started the singing and music stops... therefore I have to say that for this reason i think world football fans have the Americans beat as far as crowd involvement... I’m a Saints fan and the reason we don’t continue to chant and sing during the games is because we don’t want our offense not to be able to hear the play calls. No, football is getting bigger... If you were paying attention to international football in recently past years you would have seen an improvement of worse footballing nations of which the us is only 1 of them that has gotten better.

College sports atmosphere here is more comparable to the Soccer/Football atmosphere over in Europe. More emotional connection rooting for your State College team. I’d rather have my college team(Iowa) win a National Championship than my favorite NFL team(Dallas Cowboys) win the SuperBowl.

I think this is the fairest video I have seen for the american side yet it still seems abit lifeless to me, the fact that the fans realies on the org to play music and herd them like sheep instead of doing it themselves doesnt sit right with me, but it still seems fun I suppose just not as real, or grass roots as european sports fans are.

i wish football & basketball had the format that soccer has. for example you could not win the main prize but your season wouldnt be a failure because you can still win the fa cup or carabao cup which is nice. & the relegation battle makes things way more interesting. also i like how players come thru the academy instead of drafts... drafts are fun because you dont know who is going to what team but it sucks because they lack loyalty to that team which makes it hard to get invested/care about individual players.

Football /soccer is so boring I guess fans make their own entertainment in the stands to stop going into a coma. Imagine all that emotion, singing, fires over a nil-nil or 1-1 draw.

The European atmosphere is great for a little while but it gets tiresome fast.
@timhefty5042 жыл бұрын
It really annoys me when European soccer fans chirp about the atmosphere of our sporting events, that there's are SOOOOOO much better than ours. "Ooooooh, look at us with our flags and flares and drums! We are sooooo important!" It's silly to believe that one is better than the other, people of different cultures just do different things. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to witness the craziness of an Ajax or Galatasaray home game, the stuff I've seen from them is incredible. Must make the players feel like gods. But sometimes I don't want to worry about getting set on fire or trampled to death, you know? That horrible riot that happened at a Queretaro game a couple months ago has to make you consider if soccer fan behavior is really all that healthy

Well you have to know there are some level to our fans in Europe.... Hooligans are the worst thing that can happen to a any club of any sport. These are the ones that can make it dangerous but it got less over the years I have to say. It may look dangerous most of the time but shit doesnt happen as often as some may think. And I say that as a girl that has very passionate brothers who are fans of 2 different clubs.
