I’m Mexican and the child of immigrants and I remember getting my first American girl doll when I was a kid. I got Josaphina she was the Mexican historical one with long braided black hair. I loved that doll so much and her story and I became obsessed with American girl dolls. Having the Mexican one and seeing the range of different types of dolls really helped me understand what it meant to have Mexican blood and live in such a great country and be able to call myself American. I remember growing up all the little accessories were always so expensive so I learned to make things with my own hands. I’d make them beds and furniture out of shoe boxes and food out of oven bake clay. My mom gave me her old brother sewing machine from like the late 80s early 90s and I learned how to make them clothes and I learned to crochet to make them little hats. To this day I still sew/ crochet my own clothes and accessories and rarely buy anything new. I kinda owe that to American girl lol. It’s sad to see a company that was a huge part of so many of our lives go down this road. I really feel for this generation of children and the darkness being forced onto them. I can’t blame them for falling for the propaganda. They’re just kids.

Yes!!! When I was a young girl, my mother abandoned me. I am half Mexican...on my mother's side, and when my mother left, she left me with family members that didn't look like me. I was tan. With long thick dark hair. They were paler, blonde hair, light blue eyes. I can still remember seeing Josefina...with her eyes and hair and skin that looked like mine...I can still remember Josefina being introduced and her being the centerfold in the American girl doll catalog... It was so special to see a doll that looked age felt like me.... That made me feel closer to where part of me comes from. I can even remember "the care and keeping of you"... That book taught me so many things. We would shop around at many places to find hand made beds and a closet and accessories for our American girl dolls. My American girl doll even had her own little Christmas tree we would decorate each year in her little mock bedroom next to my room. So many memories. I've only watched the beginning of this video...but I was just taken aback by your being Mexican American as well as having a profound memory of Josefina as I had as well....and her story and seeing the pride and beauty in Mexican culture being displayed in a magazine. Te cuido y may God bless you.

My parents gave me Molly (the WWII historical doll). I had the books as well, and those came with pages filled with facts about the world the character was growing up in. There was even a series of books filled with cool pictures, facts, and photographs called "welcome to ___'s world" where you could learn even more about the time periods of the historical dolls. It was educational and fun, and it made learning about history in school more interesting because I could connect it back to a character I knew and loved. Unfortunate that it's not like that anymore.

My daughter has several of the dolls and book series. Good wholesome fun way to learn about history. My son enjoyed listening to the stories and watching the movies too. His favorite has always been Molly. Since he was little he has said if he is ever a daddy with a little girl he will name her Molly, he’s an adult and still plans on it if he has a daughter. My daughters favorite doll was Addy I was able to get an numbered original Addy. The quality is definitely noticeable. I have always loved Samantha I remember seeing her and the books thinking I’d be so happy to have her and the books. I never did but she was the first one I bought my daughter. Great memories I will share the original content with little ones but will not purchase anything new from them. Disney ooooo my I’m known a the Disney girl so giving up that has broken my heart but I’m sticking by my values of protecting children and giving age appropriate information. We should be able to trust companies like Disney & AG unfortunately we cannot. I hope they stop this inappropriate behavior! My hope is that losing money will eventually make them get it together!

I had Kirsten when I was a child. I loved her stories! They took place in the early 1800s and followed her journey across the ocean to new England and then her adventures. I loved the attention to detail that the books had and there was a page at the beginning with pictures of all the characters and maps. I passed down the books to my daughter and she loves them. They don't make them like they used to though. I think it's more about spending money on as many accessories as you can nowadays.

I’ve always been seen as a tomboy. And I’ve never dated or had a boyfriend and because of this I’ve been pulled aside many times by people asking “are you into women” simply because I’ve never dated a guy and act like a tomboy. I don’t wear men’s clothes I mean I wear activewear mostly but I don’t dress like a man. And they constantly say “well if you ever realize I’m here to support you” just because I say I’ve never liked anyone. Explaining that you aren't interested in sex is a mind-breaker to a lot of people because for them, their sex drive is a *huge* part of who they see themselves as a person. So for them to be confronted with the reality that some people don't have that and are normal people who are happy to be that way... it points out how sex isn't as important as a lot of people *think* it is. And no one likes being confronted with something like that. One thing that has been forgotten in our hyper-sexualized culture is that there are people who are legitimately not interested in sex. And a lot of those people who aren't into sex tend to not be hyper-feminine/masculine. Which today tends to get labeled as being some variety of being Bi/Trans when it isn't.

Them: Being trans is not a medical condition. Also them: You're going to need surgeries and take medication for the rest of your life.
@astral7530
@astral7530 Жыл бұрын
Being trans is not a medical condition. You can get surgery and take medication- You dont have to. Being trans IS how you FEEL. If I was a girl, and I thought: "Hey, I dont like being a girl, I dont want to be a girl! I want to be a boy. Please refer to me as a boy because thats what I am" Thats what being trans is. I am now a man and trans, because thats what I FEEL like. Heres a link to an article that describes exactly what being transgender is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender AKA: Being transgender is just simply conforming with the opposite gender. You can get gender-reaffirming surgerys. But you dont have to! I dont want to attack! I want to educate- I hope that this helped you understand better what being trans is. I can word things weirdly so if you have any questions or concerns I will try my best to answer. Even if you want to argue/debate, I am willing to have a calm conversation that sees both sides of the spectrum. And finally, I do hope that you at least respect and understand transgenders. Even if you dont agree with them, I hope you just let them be the way that you are. And you can be the way you are, and we can all get along and live in peace, even if we dont hold the same beliefs.

@@astral7530 yes!! THIS. “You CAN get surgery and take medication - you don’t HAVE to.” I wish exactly this was the message being sent out by the Lgbt community. I’m a lesbian myself who has identified as gender-neutral for the past twenty years. Most of my long-term relationships have been with “medicalized” transmen. They had chopped off their chests and were taking T. But now for the first time, I am dating and in love with a NON-medicalized transman. He has his chest intact, we use his preferred pronouns, and he’s not on any hormones. And it is WONDERFUL. He is just as valid and as much a man as my past partners, but without the painful mutilation and long-term harmful medications. So I completely agree with you. Trans is how you FEEL. It’s in your heart and your brain. So why chop up our bodies? Let people be trans without self-mutilation. And I feel the same way about those sad straight cis women that chop their bodies up in surgeries to look “prettier.” The issue here is body dysmorphia. Among medicalized trans and straight cis alike. People should get to be who they want without harming themselves to be “acceptable.”

I hope that in the near future, people understand that they dont have to get those transitions. I want people to be happy in their own bodies! On the flip side, adults, who do understand everything that comes with a medical transition, should be allowed to do it! I think that they understand themselves and any risks, so they should be able to medically transition if they so please, I just dont want them to feel forced into it just to fit in and feel like a man/woman! Teaching LGBTQ kids that they should be ashamed of who they are and hated for who they are is a damaging ideology. It is also the opposite of loving your neighbor as yourself and not judging others as if you are worthy of wielding the righteous judgement of God yourself. Jesus said his followers would be known by their works. What works are conservative Christians known for? Helping the refugee? Feeding, housing, and clothing the poor? Loving their enemies? Treating the foreigner living among you as you would the native born, as you were once foreigners in Egypt? What Christ-like works are YOU known for, other than the belief that you can and should hate, falsely accuse, and judge your neighbors in God's name? Wherever conservatives are, I see hatred and judgement of my LGBTQ neighbors. I see them called pedophiles (literally the first comment I received on this thread claimed as such) and treated as second class citizens. I've heard so much about conservative Christians, but I've yet to meet a Christ-like conservative.

@@stephanie8560 I'd like to rebute, I should mention, I am athiest, but I do have empathy, and care for others, and I did once belong to a christian religious belief, but I found it to be lacking, and it did not represent true christianity. Just because someone has said that an LGBTQ person or people are pedophiles, it does not mean they are. But it should also be an insentive to ask that person, "why do you think that? why do you think they're pedophiles?" Hell, there's pedophiles in every group and that does include LGBT, the LGBTQIA+ community is not immune to creeps, however creeps do not make up the majority of the community. part of it is the spread of trying to force things onto them. Coming from a background of being forced into religious spaces despite it not fitting my beliefs and the fact I did not feel it fit christianity. Forcing people into believing something without free will or thought is awful. However another thing as well, its not about conservative vs liberal christians. its just, christians, as a whole. We shouldn't judge people wether they are gay OR they are conservative. yes there is hatred but much of the hatred is only RECENT because of RECENT effects its had on things. People were already willing to love and care their LGBT neighbors, but those neighbors actively (not all but many of them) attack and demean and erase those who did nothing to them. Is that also, not christ-like? is that also, judgemental? yes, it is. We're all human. and the "ideologies" in this video are not meant to be hate filled, they are fact. I underwent the trial of thinking I was trans, and undergoing changes to meet it. and it actively damaged me more, it did nothing to help me. True christ-like behavior would be to, be understanding, empathetic, and guiding, but also cautious, and truthful. And show concern for the safety and understanding of these topics because children, just do not understand these topics, it should be left for adults. I'd also like to note, no one has said to these kids to hate themselves, no one is teaching them to hate themselves. What is happening is they're being taught to think for themselves and told to look into things, before jumping on the bandwagon, and protecting them from misinterpreting a message and thinking it applies to them, when it does not. But if you truly believe what you believe, that's fine, I just wanted to provide a counter point that somewhat aligns (however differs as well) but with a different perspective. I appreciate your time.

I have never seen someone telling another person BECAUSE they cut their hair short they're trans. And I think thats stupid. These books are to help kids that ARE trans understand themselves. Its to make people feel at home in their bodies no matter their age. Its to help their be less confusion. I dont want to attack. @@astral7530 Puberty is an awkward stage in every persons life, although it can be uncomfortable, there's nothing unnatural about it, and telling children that their body has a problem when it doesn't, is outright deceitful and just plain evil. @@TheOcelotSlayer Sometimes there is something wrong with a body. And we do things to try and fix it. Even if you think that feeling like you were born in the wrong body isn't something that needs to be fixed, to some people it is. If you were disabled and in a wheel chair, even though you can live fine, just be inconvenienced by the able-bodied world. If someone offered you a cure so you could stand again you would take it. Now in LGBTQ+ Terms: If you felt like you were living in the wrong body, and even though you could live fine, just have to deal with body-dismorphia and depression. And someone offered you a surgery so that you could stand again, you would take it. And guess what? People took the offer. SO that they can be happy. And I dont want to have a discussion on puberty, because puberty blockers are completley harmless and reversable. I do agree with you though that kids are to young to medically transition, they should wait till their adults with a developed brain and have thought about such big desicions. But adults, they can make their own choices and should be allowed to medically transition. The things that were done to Jazz as a child are SO heartbreaking, what Jazz needed was intensive therapy and a grounded family/home life, but instead Jazz got exploited on TLC and medically experimented on before even turning 18. Now poor Jazz has to live a lifetime of complications with a decision made by the parents before Jazz could even consent and it’s heartbreaking :(

I really wanted the doll and my mom suggested I could try to save up for my allowance and I could save up for other things too. So I did. Now, understand, I only received a quarter each time for each extra chore i did, so it took some time and I did not get an allowance for just existing. I saved up those quarters. I think it was about $96 dollars I saved for my Samantha doll and book. I was very proud of myself and felt so grown up and cool that I was able to do that. I even went to the store sometimes for a special trip on my birthday and it was the most amazing thing to me. And it breaks my heart that I can’t give that same experience to my future children. Maybe I’ll just start my own version of a children’s toy company one day that doesn’t push evil agendas on impressionable young children. It’s so disgusting what they are doing and I wish there was something I could do to stop it.

I have the same perception. The last comment you read, is exactly what I feel. I've been saying this for so long. And Brett, until I found your channel I felt I was alone in my perception, Even started questioning if I was the strange one for thinking this is all bizarre and completely destructive. You, and the wonderful people in your comment section, have made me see it otherwise. I've always perceived these things in the same way that you do. I just wasn't able to vocalize it because no one shared my view. So thank you for that. Exactly. Right on the money. If they're not already dealing with gender dysphoria, or questioning their gender, why confuse them? It's manipulation. Planting these destructive ideas in young impressionable minds undergoing serious changes as they go through puberty, it's fucking disastrous. They're going to start questioning their gender for absolutely no valid reason. They're going to feel like they have to be questioning their gender. This is the problem and has been the problem since this whole transgenderism movement went viral. And I say viral because it's literally trending. You notice how all of these "transgender" people started popping up out of the woodwork when it became a trend on TikTok and on the internet? Not only is it confusing for teenagers who use the internet and are constantly subjected and exposed to people questioning and changing their gender, it opened a gate for the mentally ill in our society to engage with this ridiculous movement as well and even they (ADULTS, WITH FULLY DEVELOPED BRAINS) began questioning their gender! You take already mentally ill people and fill their heads with this crap and society expects no repercussions. If this ridiculous trend is powerful enough to manipulate and reach millions of mentally ill individuals, enough to put an impression on adult people, imagine what it is doing to undeveloped, impressionable young minds!! It's sick. It's really scary if you consider the theory that the world will be overpopulated with people who have butchered their own genitalia due to gender dysphoria and mental illness, one day reproduction will no longer be an option because everybody is walking around with pretend genitals that don't function to reproduce. Imagine living in a world, not to mention a dying world, where gender is no longer a scientific fact but a concept. Everyone's walking around with whatever synthetic body part they want in their pants. Suddenly people are no longer being inhibited by financial means because they've made hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgery affordable for everyone. Imagine a world where we are unable to reproduce and eventually we all die off. Everything adds up eventually. And frankly it's not impossible. It's a very scary thought. And It may not happen in your or my lifetime, but if this continues to expand and reach millions and millions of people who are already struggling with mental illness, have a tendency to make rash decisions based on their mood of the day, are impulsive and frankly have gender dysphoria, life as we know it will eventually go extinct, and it will start by the population getting smaller and smaller. Until all that's left are walking humans with mixed body parts (zombies) and a few stray hetero, fertile, sane people who can only reproduce so quickly. Sounds like the makings of a nightmare.

Jazz Jennings still suffers from depression and an eating disorder. When he went to a hypnosis regression session in one episode, he said he was a gay man who was "hungry" for acceptance when the hypnotist tried to see the underlying cause of his eating disorder. I also facilitate this, and I would take that quite literally. The reason why Jazz Jennings is overeating is that he never accepted himself as a gay man. Instead, he was brainwashed by his doctors and mother to think he was transgender.

I'm a young teen, my brain is not even fully developed, and I know how messed up and just sad this is. I grew up loving to read because of the AG doll books series'.my favorites were tenny, addy, and Felicity. All three had fun stories that I loved so dearly, and soon I started asking to collect the dolls for Christmas and birhdays. I grew up with only older brothers and not many friends, so the characters and their stories became my best friends. I loved to play with them, create stories for them, like a new chapter to the book that included all of my dolls. These guys really were my childhood and it makes me so so so so sad and discouraged to know that our world has come this far to young girls childhood being twisted and based on politics. We right thinking women and even men need to stand up and claim our territory and the minds of our children and protect them from the dangers of our current world.

There was so much beauty about the original American Girl doll "Historical Collection." It wasn't "just a doll", they were educational. Not only did they have Historical fictional books to encourage reading, but these characters and their stories had consistent themes to compare what life was like across time periods. Every character had an introduction, a school story, a birthday story, a Christmas story, and covered major events significant to their time. Girls could get a picture of "Wow, this is what school was like in 1904," and compare "How is it different or similar from how I go to school? How are the American Girls different from each other?" I read most of the American Girl collection and it was an important part of my reading journey in 1st-2nd grade. We had a whole shelf dedicated to AG at the library. Such a shame to see it go.

As someone who grew up with American Girl myself, I hate this for the company. I grew up, like you, with the historical dolls. In 2009, when I was eight, I was given Kit, the 1930s doll. I still have that doll and the books that came with her. I loved her story and personality. I read the books, watched the movie, and played the video game. American Girl was essentially my open door into my love for history (as well as mysteries) and later writing. I had some of the other dolls too and adored them. I even have two of the girls of the year, which was the modern doll they would put out highlighting different issues like bullying or the blended family as well as a different talent like painting or baking or even gymnastics. American Girl taught me so much history and life lessons that the fact that it's now come to this is depressing for me.

@@astral7530 she couldn't de transition and become a man again without extreme backlash from the community telling her not to share her story because it's "fuel for the alt right" she would lose her show. She would never regain sexual function she could have had ect. You act like it's no big deal. And yes children can dress and appear how they want but the reality is children are being medically through drugs and surgically transitioned and that is what she advocates for regularly. She is against Texas saying children under 18 shouldn't medically transition. Let's remember jazz is still a VERY young adult who has had what 3 a minimum bottom surgeries? And things still arnt functioning right? Or maybe it is now? Either way this isn't a life children should be striving for but they ARE. They get huge social media following brand deals TV shows and society telling them how brave they are. Teenagers and middle school age children are highly persuaded by this. It is SUCH a confusing age where most kids dislike their bodies. Then you have adults and trans/ lgbtqia+ telling them well if you don't like girl/boy things you might be non binary aka trans and then this WHOLE WORLD of love and acceptance will welcome you in. AND tell your parents transition so you don't kill yourself. OR BYPASS your parents if they don't agree and we have all these programs that will help you start hormones without their permission. Children who can't consent can apparently concentrate to life long decisions. Derangement.

@@daddysgirl102938 First of all, I want to start out by saying that I agree, kids should wait till their 18 to transition, its a major change that needs to be thought about my a more developed brain. Second of all, even if Jazz would receive backlash (Which I personally doubt) If they have any issues with their transitioning, they can de-transition, backlash or not. Yes, they may still keep their medical problems, but most people that have transitioned do not receive said problems, at least as far as I'm aware, she got unlucky. Third, I also agree that trans kids should not be super publicized and evangelized. They should be able to live life normally. And third of all, theirs no programs to bypass parents on medical things. You have to have parents permission for anything medical. Finally, telling kids about gender-nonconforming things like being trans is a good thing! I'm a minor and genderfluid, and I am more than glad that my parents taught me what the LGBTQ+ is! Because now I understand who I want to be and how I want to be referred to as!
