I remember reading "American gods" a few years ago and thinking "man, there could be a movie, or better, a tv series based on this novel" and there it is. I'm so happy this show was created, I love everything from Neil Gaiman.

True. A lot of their gods are/were dichotomous in nature but from the generally accepted narrative, I really don't remember any of them being explicitly evil. Also, I did not know that there are any legit sources on ancient slavic religion since everything they had built got torn down during the violent christianization of the slavic tribes. Most records about ancient slavs are about their culture and way of life while very few of the old religious customs survived through the middle ages.

In all of them - they took some artistic liberties. Shocker, I know. But you would expect people to know better than to equate TV characters to their original counter parts, especially when they themselves see and hear them being portrayed differently.

To my knowledge Anansi didn't STEAL the ability to have stories exist from the Sky God. He actually just went and politely asked for them, but the Sky God demanded a trade. Good vid, but you got one thing wrong. The reason Mr. Wednesday use that name is because in older Norway wednesday is translated to "Odinsdag", witch means Odin's-day. Later, as time has passed it has been shortened down to "onsdag" witch is the term we in Norway today. This is also the reason way he said it was his day. since it's about Odin this seems more right.

the Abrahamic God is not the same as in the past and has been split (in reality) into several different conflicting aspects. The God of the Protestants, the Catholics, the Jews, the Evangelicals and there are other lesser manifestations. Keep in mind that the premise of the book is that a gods power comes from true belief. Most belief these days is lip service and the actual belief is in something else: Power, Prestige, Wealth, Fear, etc,.

The Cthulhu Gods are Late 1800s- Early 1900s. Compared to Odin, Ananzi, Thoth, Chernobog, Eostre, and Queen of Sheba. The Cthulhu Mythos Pantheon is New. Even the "Outer Gods" The Parents of Cthulhu who are the Indifferent Creator Gods. The "Great Old Ones" Cthulhu and his Brothers and Sisters. Then the Elder Gods are Cthulhu Children. And unfortunately outside of People who Love Cosmic Horror were left out of the Series. But if they were in the American Gods Universe I would hate to fight for the side they are not on. Because they are all unspeakably Uggly and Powerful Monsters beyond Human's Worst Fears.

Firstly Belobog is not a Slavic God, There are theories about an opposite to Chernobog or Zherneboh (The Black God). It is a construct made by people of a monotheistic culture. It's akin to saying Eirene was the opposite to Ares. Where in fact the two are not. Eirene is a name change of Horae who is the goddess of time! Eostre, or Ostara is my favorite because of my spiritual beliefs, I acknowledge her during the holiday, Ostara (Easter). As far as in the show, that's my favorite! But Egyptian mythology is part of my spirituality as well; Just so you know, Thoth is actually pronounced "Toe th", but I think it's been mispronounced so many times, that Thoth "Th ahh th" is often considered correct, but it really isn't. Just a fascinating fact. But really, the Leprechaun is my favorite, since the moment I saw him. I find something strangely attractive about him, but it's probably his style I like about him, plus I have a thing for Irish guys, as my husband is Irish. :)
