As American vehicles go the silversides have always reigned top for me. Plus the bonus of a barking 2 stroke for good measure.

What a beautiful bus. Wish I could at least go on board and see what it's like and I also enjoyed the sound of the six cylinder two stroke diesel engine. Am not sure but think this bus is equipped with stick shift transmission.

They were a column shifting 4 speed. Really cool to drive when you got the hang of the gear ratios

That's what I'd call the BULLETHEAD. By the time I rode Greyhound as a kid in the 60s and 70s these were long gone from the fleet.

Nice little video; it brings back memories of a trip my mother and I took in 1945 from New York to LA. What a trip! Did Greyhound have diezel buses before 1947? I think the route the bus took was the Lincoln Highway and/or Route 66

James Kelly hay their from Lester I was born in early 1950. I grew up in Phila , Pa. and N. Y. I would go bonkers when ever mom took me with her on the bus to shop. I drove everyone crazy asking them about there bus ride. I was in awe at the sounds the noise every little bit of that big old noisy bus. I drove the driver crazy asking him questions about the money box when you first got on. By the time we got off my mom was apologizing to everyone most people kind of smiled or laugh a little bit. I got to wear the drivers hat one time. I couldn't stop talking about that in school all day.
