I have had my hands on a ton of hats, $40 wool to $5000 chinchilla, and I haven’t found a better finished hat than American. I don’t have a Grizzly, yet, but it may be in the cards one day. I think the Gus is one of the most underrated shapes, super useful in the wind and elements. I don’t wear one, but it would be the perfect shape for hunting and work. In my opinion. Great job ➕✖️

I hated the Gus shape, I recently got one for work and man I have to say it’s a really practical shape. Nice wide, mostly open brim. Has a good amount of dip front and back to shed any rain or water. The crease makes it really easy to put on and take off. It’s one of my favorite shapes now for working in!

Interesting hat lore I have heard is that legendary bill rider Larry Mahan originally popularized the style sometime back in the 60s/70s due to a bet😂 someone bet him he wouldn’t ride with one of those furry hats, he took the bet and rode with one and it became a hit! Gone in and out of style since then but nice to see them come back. Great winter hats! Thanks for sharing, great review!

Definitely like AMC hats. Solid review and I appreciate the explanation of how/why it's a grizzly versus a "regular" cowboy hat. I always thought the gus crease was dorky but it's growing on me. Cheers.

I wish I could buy this hat... a cowboy hat in general but can't find any that are cheap but good quality. Wanted a cowboy hat since I was a kid. Nice videos!

I got a American Hat Co straw and wear it as long as i can. Fits better than any other hat i own and is just way better. Been looking at the grizzly but dont know if im willing to drop that kind of cash. The extra warmth definitely appeals to me though

Nice man, well a cheaper option for warmth would be a wool hat. Not the best in wet weather, but It will definitely keep you warm for a cheap cost

good catch haha. I think you can order it with any store that sells American hat co hats. like Cavender's. If you are ever in Elgin, definitely give the double r hat house a stop.
