Dr. Berry you saved my life, I found your channel in 2019 and I was a 45 year old on 7 meds a day! Weighing in at 331 pounds at 5'10". Today I'm in the gym medication free and 194 pounds plenty of get up and go, with energy to spare and plenty of muscle! I want to say thank you so much and May you and the family be blessed!!!! I was associated with the American Heart Association for 6 years. I attended their annual meeting and at one point during a keynote speech by one of the chief medical officials (a highly respected cardiologist) he cautioned his colleagues that promoting certian policies and diet changes could put them "out of business" which was not the goal of the AHA. I severed my relationship with them later that month.

Yes. 15-20 years ago i was a certified diabetes educator. I argued with the diabetes specialist (MD) about low carb and he said that “we don’t know what a low carb diet might do to you”. I just shook my head. Yes, but We do know what a high carb diet does… heart disease, stroke, diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, etc.

He was amazed at my progress in 3 months to reduce my triglycerides from 255 on last visit. Today they came in at 68! I lost 18 lbs, from 218 to 200 and I feel great. He said, “legally, I’m supposed to prescribe you this (handed me the Rx), but you can go to the health food store and buy this supplement.” When I tried to schedule a follow up appt, I was told he was no longer there. I’ve searched (and still search) for him FOR YEARS to thank him for helping me realize there were other ways to approach health. My last cardiologist started eating keto after I had my second "heart attack" that was triggered by my coronary vasospasms. I had told him that I'll just get back to eating keto, since I had flopped, and other things, to lower my stress hormones. A year later I saw him and he stressed the importance of keto for me, because I flopped again. My cardiologist before him also agreed with keto, but said she couldn't advise me to eat keto because the medical facility she worked for wouldn't allow it. She then tried giving me medications. I'm now over a month into eating keto and feeling much, much better. My angina is next to non existent now. I had to do some heavy detoxing to clear some heavy metals and other stuff, which helped pull me through craving the toxic poison I used to eat.

Or couldn't I give them a sloce of cheese? Their blood glucose would return to normal and hold stable for a longer period of time. It's 15 g carb gel or juice. Keep giving it until their bl gl is > than 100, then check again in 4 hours. Now, I try to give them graham crackers (because it is whole grain so the net grams are lower) & peanut butter.

@@DebraRN1195 Speaking as someone who researches nutrition at the university level, THE best results for all-you-can-eat weight loss at one year, diabetes reversal, and stopping and reversing heart disease have all been achieved on diets with 70% calories from whole food carbs or more. But to do that, you eat very low in fat (~8-12% of calories) to produce superior insulin sensitivity then your eat WHOLE FOOD carbs with lots of fiber (60 g, not 20 g; plus intact grains, not flour in processed foods, etc.). In fact, ALL large, slim, and largely diabetes-free populations in recent history got the majority or vast majority of their calories from whole food carbs (the post-WWII Okinawans, the world's second longest lived formally studied population, they got 85% of calories from carbs). Hmm. All of these inconvenient realities routinely get obscured on low-carb sites that don't realize that 30% calories from fat is not "low-fat" and which routinely conflate the unhealthy effects of processed carbs with the very healthy effects of getting energy from whole food carbs. Take care.

Type 2 Diabetic here. Could not drop a pound on regular Keto. I am learning we are all different, and have to figure what works for each of us, especially seniors. I am 65. Even walking an hour a day wasn't helping. Extremely insulin resistant. Three days ago I went straight Carnavore, and OMAD. So one carnivore meal, once every 24 hours. The scale has moved. I was 240.8, 3 days ago. Today, I am at 232.4. I know it's mostly water, but I will take it. I am drinking plain Organic Oolong tea, and lots of water. I went full keto (clean) during my pregnancy after being recommended a high-grain diet when I am a T2D. Doctors would intimidate me and try to scare me to stop, but I did not. I stopped answering the calls from the "dietitian" (she recommended whole grains and just to lower portions when numbers were high, even when I was STARVING. I was allowed a 1/4th of a cup of oats and still workout and inevitably end up with numbers higher than 200 :( ) Mind you that I was no longer on meds while doing Keto and my A1C was 5.7. I would get called selfish, when it was completely the opposite.

I’m not even diabetic, at a normal weight but I still notice the inflammatory response from both of those. I can’t handle sweet potatoes a lot better but it still causes me slight inflammation. I have moderate carpal tunnel in both of my hands and that’s where my symptoms manifest the most. I’m going to see a new primary next week, I suspect I may have undiagnosed thyroid issues, I have a lot of autoimmune symptoms these days. I’m in my mid 30’s, this stuff just didn’t concern me before. Hoping to find a doctor who will help me find what is going on with me and in the mean time I’ll keep doing the low carb lifestyle to manage my health and symptom’s 💪

In response to this and a comment by Andrew Stanley, I am a health inspector and I have been in school kitchens and I have seen stacks of pound size blocks of MARGARINE in the coolers. I could not believe this is what nutritionist thought was acceptable for school children to eat. It has been a well known fact that stuff is death for many years. Things like this should be the focus of PTA and PTO meetings and maybe things will change. My child has packed lunch for years and will continue to do so. We are Keto and my child's acne has cleared dramatically and he has more energy, we all do. Rock on Dr. Berry!

I have been following low carb diet now for almost 3 months [I am 63 years old] and now completely stopped all my T2D and have an average fasting blood sugar level of about 5.8 mmol/l. I have been under T2D medication for almost 20 years and never had my average blood sugar level this low. I have been told by Doctors in Australia that for the rest of my life I will always be medicine dependent as my Sri Lankan hereditary and family history is deemed to be incontrollable. I have news to all these so called experts in Australian medical profession. I would have seen almost 5 specialists to no avail, to be told the same story. Thanks to Doctors like Dr. Ken Berry, now the AHA has woken up. I hope ADA will do the same followed by Diabetes Australia and Diabetes Victoria and promote low carb diet. I should confess that there is a statement in Diabetes Victoria website about the benefits of Ketogenic diets, but hidden in a corner rather than prominent. I hope the change is coming soon enough to save the population of all these rubbish food and the big pharma's that are supporting for only one reason - make huge profits in the process of killing people. These lynch mobs must be prosecuted for genocide.

@@robinbeers6689 Thank you Robin. The reason why many doctors think that Asians will always have diabetes is because the Asian / Sri Lankan food is predominantly large portions rice and wheat. Due to the economic conditions, people there tend to eat a lot of rice to fill their tummies. However, the same is happening in the west not because of economic conditions, but because of abundance of choice of rubbish food that is tasty. People in the west are literally killing themselves because they have been fed so much of misinformation about fat. I should state that I have had a very uphill task of convincing my wife that fat does not make you fat and rice does. But I am winning the battle.
