I've been Keto for about 2 years. I went for a checkup, and my elderly, obese doctor prescribed Lipitor. When I asked why, and if we can discuss, he said no. It was imperative to take it. I never filled it. I'm 52, no medical issues or medications. My LDL was 186, HDL was 72, and triglycerides of 65. My vitamin D was very low, so now I take 4,000 IU of D3 daily.

My husband has been talking with his cardiologist and PCP for many years about the side effects of the meds. They did not care and kept him on them. He began listening to Dr. Berry, researched and charted his meds, and started KETO on Jan. 1st. As of May, he is off ALL of his meds (no more statins, metformin, and other heart meds) and has lost 25-30 pounds. He feels great, no more aches and pains, and has better energy level. When he discussed with his cardiologist in April, she told him to keep taking the meds and stay "on the program." He will be staying off the meds (except the 81 mg. aspirin) and maintaining our new healthy KETO lifestyle!

Thank you! God bless you both! My PCP wants me off keto and wanted to started statins. She's basically fired because I'm down 75 lbs and normal weight, but also off all meds, no more fatty liver, reversed CKD and pre-diabetes, more energy, vision 3x better, and more. My LPA score was normal, my triglycerides had reduced greatly, HDL went up...but she freaked at increased Total and LDL. So yeah, I won't be quitting this lifestyle. Never! It's delicious and sustainable.

Thank you so much for bringing the amazing Dr. Ali on your podcast! Great info. I struggle when seeing my insurance doctor. I live in a small town and don’t have many choices. She wants me on a statin and to eat “healthy” whole grains, etc. I’ve been low carb since 2009. I finally went off plan and pay cash for a doctor across the state (near Dr Ali actually) who gets my lifestyle (but not the carnivore part), but the out-of-pocket costs are high. Standing firm is not for the faint of heart when the doctor is criticizing everything I do.

I had major surgery to reverse a colostomy last October and was required by my cardiologist to have a Lexiscan stress test before he would approve the surgery. The original emergency colostomy was done 7 years ago and I was extremely sick for a year afterwards. I gained over 80 pounds and was not able to have the reversal because of the excess weight. Two years ago I discovered Keto and lost the whole 80 lbs. My stress test came back so good that my cardiologist finally believes that I do the exercise I've been claiming to do and he now credits Keto for my success. No blockages!! I'm 68 and healthier than I've been in the past 25 years. I would hate to think anything would make me turn away from the Keto way of eating.

I am enjoying learning new ways to eat and to prepare food without breads, pastas, rices or other grains, seed oils, legumes, or starchy vegetables ... not missing or craving these carb foods now. I've been carnivore pretty much since Thanksgiving. Haven't lost a lot of weight; 4 -6 inches at waist but want to report what has happened to my hands and arms. I am almost 64, I have always gardened and eaten tons of veggies. For several years now, I would get the broken blood vessels in arms and hands just taking off my coat too roughly. When my dogs would put their paws on my arm to get my attention, the claws would invariably make blood blisters and often putting them down would tear my thin skin. Now, less than 4 months later, I can't make my blood vessels break! It dawned on me last week that this was no longer happening and I started pinching and treating myself roughly, trying to cause it to happen again just to see if imagining things. Nope! Nothing! I am so happy about this. Working in nursing while attending university, the thin skin seemed to be associated with older folks and natural. It's not! Even skin gets thicker and healthier eating meat!

Hello Dr. Berry and Dr. Ali, after two years of keto and six months of carnivore, I shocked my doctor with the following blood work results: total cholesterol: 526, LDL: 380, HDL: 149, LDL-/HDL ratio: 2,55, Triglycerides: 44, fasting blood glucose 84. My doctor said, he's never seen anything like that before, lol. He said I'm healthy and I don't need a statin. I'm glad he has a sense of humor! I was scared that he would pressure me into taking a statin. Still, I'm curious if such high numbers are OK.

@Bladerunner2043 High cholesterol is indeed a problem if the HDL is too low in relation to the LDL and the triglycerides are high. Also, if there is a coronary heart disease. These are issues that need to be considered, of course. I'm still healthy and happy.

Been keto 2 years. In 2016 my BP was elevated at Drs office as usual. She wanted me on BP med but I told her I would do it with lifestyle. Started walking and weight work. Lowish carb. She pissed me off because with no discussion after my blood work the pharmacy called and said my statin Rx was ready. Fired her. On keto and 71 yo woman now. No other health issues stronger than I have ever felt. Brought my BMI down 14 points. Climbing rock trails and sprints now and then. BUT in September I fell on a hike and broke my lower arm requiring surgery. Drs scream about my BP. But wouldn’t it BE high under this kind of stress. This was a presurgical visit with doc I had never seen. Put me right then on lisinoprol. Wanted me to do a stress test which I did but I was extremely ANXIOUS and frightened. Test was fine but AGAIN the blood pressure. Duh. All these measures have been taken when stressed in dr office. She upped med from 5 mg to 20 mg that seemed only to increase my anxiety with med side affects. Told to take BP at home but that has been a disaster with anxiety rising at each try. Finally quit doing that. Hid the machine and calming my life which had some big stressors going on too. I believe my BP was good BEFORE my accident as I was doing everything that would keep it low. And now I’m on some stress merry go round with doctors. I want off this med. what should I do? BLood work coming up so this video will help me fend off the nonsense but the BP really weighs on me.

Mitsim. I do not know about reversal but I hope it helps. I went keto Jan 1 2018 after a heart attack in April 2017. My trigs went down to 84 and that's the one I was worried about. It was lots higher when I started keto. My A1C is 4.5. You may say I'm betting my life on keto. Oh, I'm 77

Dr Berry! Started Keto 12/31 due to my bloodwork showing high Triglycerides and ALT & 7.1 A1C. Bloodwork redone 3/14/20, A1C dropped to 6.3, triglycerides are the lowest and my cholesterol has never been an issue but is the lowest on record.

Dr. Ali is saying that studies show higher LDLs tends to correlate with longer lifespan, but he's talking about world wide studies, which includes the Asian countries where people are NOT NEARLY AS OVERWEIGHT as Americans. High LDLs are not a concern if you are not overweight and not diabetic, otherwise they are indicative of probable early death by heart disease.

Hi Dr. Berry. How about a video on the affects of caffeine and blood pressure, and could too much caffeine cause high blood pressure. Greetings from Wisconsin!
@shirleysplude59334 жыл бұрын
He did a video on caffeine just the other day :)
@nicetna20104 жыл бұрын
@@shirleysplude5933 You are mistaken. Dr. Berry did a video on coffee the other day. Not caffeine. Caffeine is not just in coffee, it's also in things such as candy bars, energy drinks, sodas, fancy water, hot chocolate, ice cream & yogurt and protein bars, to name just a few examples.

@@nicetna2010 Yes, but if you are on the low-carb KETO diet, you would not be eating any of the things you named. Coffee isn't loaded with sugar, thus the question.

Had this convo with my Cardio Dr and GP. Cardio Dr was condesending, gaslighting, bullying and nasty. I need to find a new one. So far found none who know what Metabolic Sydrome even is - at least in my state. Following the protocols - diet (Ketovore/Carnavore). Wish I had a Dr to help with testing and monitoring. Mine didnt even know about the tests to run.

Lost a bit of weight on Keto then it stopped. I decided to try fasting and cut out a lot of the dairy and that seemed to help quite a bit. Dairy can be inflammatory and you may not even know it's happening to you.I am referring to any kind of creams and certain soft cheeses.

He has ckd 4. His creatinine went up from 2.82 to 3.02. Need some advice please.
