As much as I LOVE Murder House, I think I gotta go with Asylum now. I’m almost done rewatching Hotel (another season I’m enjoying more than the first time) & I just know it’s gonna be so hard to rank all of these seasons later, specifically Seasons 1-9.

So the last scene is a flashback to when Lana and Sister Jude first met. She left the asylum that day and then snuck back in through the tunnel.

I'm 55 so I grew up watching many movies that had Jessica Lange. Actually the very first movie I went to was with my mom where we watched King Kong with Jessica Lange. And ever since then, I have watched every movie with her in it. So I was super excited when she started acting in the American Horror Story franchise. So glad you like her as well.

Interesting possible symbolism, where Mary Eunice/Devil dies, was also where the statue of the Virgin Mary was that Dr. Arden had toppled over during the thunderstorm.. could've been an even more epic death if he had smashed the statue instead of pushing it over, so that the remnants of the statue would've impaled the devil

I think the ending represents how at the beginning she was always this ambitious, so the last older years of her life made sense. She never lost that ambition, thus the ending. But it also represents what she and Sister Jude could have avoided if she had just left when she had the chance.

the ending of this season is so tragic. i feel like weirdly enough, judy got the best ending in comparison to all the other characters. kit, yes got out with grace and got to get his wife back along with two miracle babies, but the trauma of his wives catches and kills both of them, making him a widower two more times after alma’s first disappearance. lana tried to give her son a better future, but once again, trauma ruins what hope she had for him and leads her to having to do what she had wanted to avoid all those years ago when she changed her mind on that abortion table. sister mary eunice had to LIVE AND DIE with the devil inside her. but judy i think experienced more love and peace in those last 6 months of her life than she had at all for any her life before that. super sad for the rest of the main characters, but i’m glad judy got rewarded for her attempts to right her wrongs. as said before, lange has a way of making me adore her even in roles where the characters are quite despicable in many ways and capable of awful things. she’s so earnest and genuine, even in her misery and contempt 😂

It’s been a lot of fun rewatching Asylum with you. Watching it on your channel as well as on MovieFusion’s channel has given me a newfound respect for this season. Always thought it was overrated before but I absolutely loved it after revisiting it! Idk why but I was never fully invested the first time I watched it. I think I just enjoyed Coven & Murder House too much that anything else paled in comparison 🤷🏾‍♂️ Excited to experience your journey with my favorite season Coven next, which has arguably the best AHS cast ever assembled!

i’m so glad to have seen you watch this season!! it’s one of my favorites too in hindsight, but going forward i’m not sure how much AHS i’ll be retracing on my own just bc of how prevalent SA is in literally every season it feels like. but a lot of the story telling in these first four seasons, even if convoluted at times, i love the cast’s contributions to characters that make you stay anyways. jessica lange, sarah paulson, lily rabe, and evan peters rlly held this shit together and i love emma robert’s introduction to the cast next season and taissa’s return. excited to see you watch coven next!! it seems to be THE fan favorite which i can understand, it’s part of my top 3 too. on another note: the boys s4 is starting and i’m wondering if youtube will ever have your gen v reactions!! i loved that show and would love to watch it with you matty!!

the thing about father whatever is i think morally he should renounce his vows. not bc of him being SA’d ofc but bc he allowed dr. arden to be so inhumane to the asylum patients. sure, judy seems only remorseful about it cuz now SHE is one of them, but it’s not godly to allow these things to happen to ppl on either of their parts. i don’t think he’s a bad person, but i do think he allowed himself, dr. arden, AND sister judy to act as god and decide whose life has more value and whose is disposable. but idk maybe that’s encouraged in catholicism as a religious practice, but it doesn’t excuse how evil it is.
