This is my all-time favorite medley in "American Idol" history. They all sound so perfect together and compliment each other during this. :-) Season 5 was, in my opinion, absolute perfection when it came to the show. After that (again, in my opinion), it went downhill.

I think that if Chris sang "Love Me Tender" and Kat sang "Are You Lonesome Tonight" on their performance show, the whole thing with them getting in the bottom 2 spots wouldn't have happened. :-) Those two did fantastic jobs with those snippets here!

I voted for Katherine McPhee and Elliott yamin in season 5 every week. I wanted Katherine to win that year I was sad when she didn't win she's a great singer. I saw American idol on tour back in season 5 and I got to meet the top 10. in Miwaukee Elliott was so nice I first met him outside before I went into the meet and greet. when I went in he said Hi to me remembered my name I was 15 years old then when I went to the concert in 2006.

Best top 4 ever and things worked out the best for everyone. Chris didn't need the win because his style was radio-friendly . Elliot has become a successful indie artist. Kat never wanted a full on music career, but she is acting now, which is what she wanted all along. Taylor was the most charismatic stage performer & despite never getting support from his record company, sold a respectable amount and has gone on to be a big draw in concert & on Broadway. There's more than 1 way 2 be a success

OH, yeah, Best Season of all time! Was hoping either Elliot or Chris took the title but everyone's all great! In terms of performances and song choices, this batch has delivered the most versatile contestants. I think all top 10 have released their own albums after AI.

I agree with you. I think Season 6 was overwhelmed by Sanjaya Malakar. For the most part of Season 7, I was only waiting for David Cook and David Archuleta's performance because they were the ones who performed great every week. That is probably the reason why Season 7 has the best finale.

This was the most competitive top 4 ever! All of them were amazing. But I thought Taylor was supposed to get the boot, though. The other three were (more) awesome. It's pretty ironic how America chose Taylor over the others for the title.

Lol i remember this being one of my favorite performances of the show. i've been watching since the premiere in 2002. Season 5 reminds me so much of Season 8 especially the top 4. Daughtry is like Adam, robbed of the title, Allison is Katherine Mcphee. in terms of vocal style Gokey is Taylor and in terms of height Elliott is Kris haha

After this season the producers started focusing away from the contestants and more onto the guest star coaches. It was never the same after that.
