From Emmy Award winning PBS series Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop (Program 112, Season One)(English Subtitles)
David travels to the bank of the Lieutenant River, CT to visit the grounds of the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He examines the distinctly American style of Impressionism that retained more of a basis of drawing and sketching and more of a reliance on classical forms - all inherited from the Hudson River Painters. David considers the new technologies in paint, new scientific ideas of perception, and their methods for realizing a sensual, personal vision on canvas as he paints a River scene reminiscent of the painting by Childe Hassam called Summer Afternoon, in acrylic.
David then works with his talented fellow artist Bob Johnson on the banks of the Lieutenant River, CT. Bob gave his consent to David for the discussion about his painting and also for David's comments in paint on the actual painting. We hope that you enjoy the American Impressionists at Lieutenant River, CT!

Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop (Seasons One and Two) is an innovative, lively and entertaining Emmy® and CINE Golden Eagle Award winning PBS series that takes you to the actual locations in France, Italy and the United States that inspired the great artists Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Paul Cezanne, J.M.W. Turner, John Singer Sargent, Francesco Guardi, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Winslow Homer, and the Hudson River artists to create some of their most iconic works. These half-hour programs explore the lives, techniques and inspiration of these master artists through a combination of discussion and demonstration in the beautiful locations that inspired them. David I used to kayak down lieutenant river. I'm also an artist. You are like a scientific historian painter. I paint by sight love to add pink to all my painting but you understand the mechanics. So few artists are in your caliber. I'm Karel a pleasure meeting you.

"It's a poem" I love that, and it totally comes through in your tutorial. Nobody is afraid to write a poem, but painting can be so intimidating. Great instruction❤
