6:30 we call the paper towels also Küchenrolle (Rolle = roll) 9:25 I would call it Schraubglas, because you screw (schrauben) on the lid. Maybe you can also call it Einmach-/ Einkochglas (Lebensmittel einmachen/einkochen = cook food to make it more durable), like you can use this jars for jam. 15:20 some drawers have knobs. I would call it Knauf like Türknauf (door knob), but there aren't many of them in Germany. 18:02 this is especially a Hängeschrank (hängen = to hang).

Mug = Becher Cup = Tasse It's the same object with one difference: A Becher generally doesn't have a handle while a cup has. 👍🏼 But: Measuring cup = Messbecher, even with a handle (Henkel) 😀 Sink = Spüle/Waschbecken But Spüle can also be short for Spülmaschine (dishwasher). Paper towels = Küchenpapier Silverware = Silberbesteck (only if there's actually silver in it. There's also Goldbesteck) Besteck can also be referred to more fine tuned tools like Arztbesteck (doctor's cutlery). Bowl = Schale But a bowl of a big size is generally referred to as Obstschale (fruit bowl) (Door) Knob = Türknauf or just Knauf, but you can use Griff to describe anything that's designed to hold onto with hands. Door handle = Türgriff Sieb can be a Nudelsieb with larger pores and a Reissieb (for example) with small pores. Drinks in shot glasses = "Kurze" (short ones) 😀 It's colloquial language. I think as opposed to long drinks, and Kurze generally have higher amounts of alcohol.

@lisamirako10733 жыл бұрын

actually she pronounced Honig the right way. ;) It is a common misconception that it should be HoniK. A lot of Germans hypercorrect words that end with "ig" because they assume that there needs to be a hard consonant as they usually appear at the end of words (Deutsche Auslautverhärtung) In this case that is not true. It is Honich, lebendich, kräftich... in Standard German at least. In my dialect we say Honik as well.

"They are an online website", yeah, sure. Do you think an offline site is of any use? I liked it that you inserted "der Seiher" for "sieve" because it's so much southern and Bavarian and you live in the north. We also have the word "abseihern" here: You pour the noodles into a sieve and wait until the water has flown through. Best idea is to do that near or in a Spülbecken. Hot water is not good for your toes and your Bodenbelag. I live in the countryside, and I have a wood Ofen to keep me warm in winter, and an electric Herd to cook my meals. And of course I have a Mikrowelle. No one-person household can survive without a microwave, err: oven? Ich höre da im Hintergrund den Hamburger. Hier in Bayern sagt man "der Ofenrost", nicht "das".It's a pain in my ears how you neutralize everything. It is DER Butter, DER Radio, and DER Virus. Okay, it is DIE Salmonelle, but you don't want her in the kitchen. "Sauce" can also be spelt the German way, "Soße", although it's actually a French word, so "sauce" would be the original spelling. I hope you're not SPINNING the dials on your microwave, but just TURN them, and press the buttons gently. "Die Spüle" is also something typically northern; we Bavarians say "das Waschbecken", the washing basin, because it's made for washing dishes (and sometimes little babies). I don't have Paprika in my kitchen cupboard. I like it hot, so I have some Asian chili. Salt and pepper are a must-have, and besides I have some chives (fresh in summer, dry in winter) and some mediterranean spice mix to add to a pizza now and then. I have some supermarket-style curry, but mostly don't use it, except when kids are around who want a Currywurst. Otherwise, I'd use the chili. The Bavarian word for a big coffee mug is "Haferl", pronounced with an open a. I think it's not random that it's the same word we use to describe what the French would call "pot de chambre". After all, coffee makes you pee a lot. I never learned how to use the Brötchenaufsatz correctly. I never got crispy Semmeln on a Sunday, one side always was burnt. After years of trying, I thought to myself, Eisi, you better give up. There are things beyond human apprehension, and toasters are from outer space. Plural words, a nightmare if German is not your native language. Das Haus, die Häuser. Die Maus, die Mäuse. Die Katze, die Katzen. Der Kater, die Kater. But English ain't any better. Irregular verbs, how I hated them in school! More than once I was about to smash my grammar book against the wall. Schale, Schüssel: Ah, whatever. You eat Suppe out of a Suppenteller, but when there is decorative fruit in it, is it still a Suppenteller or rather an Obstschale? With that question I'll finish my already lengthy comment.

Well technically that kind of jar was a "Glasbehälter" but Germans are shorten words all the time while speaking and therefore just say "Glas"...the drinking glass is technically a "Trinkglas" but shortened into just "Glas"...the noun "Glas" just means the material "glass"...and all those expressions of "Glas" aren´t mixed up because the context of the sentence always gives the actual meaning of either "jar" or "drinking glass" or "the material glass". and "reißen" and "reisen" with or without the prefix "ab-" are different pronounced... "reißen" the first syllabel = "reiß-" is very short pronounced and the emphasis is on the ß which is pronounced sharp. "reisen" = first syllabel = "rei-" is emphasized/"a bit longer pronounced" and the following "s" is pronounced soft and part of the second syllabel "-sen" There is an alternative verb as well for "sieben" which is "seihen" . For to express "to strain noodles" by using "ein Sieb" I personally would always say "Nudeln abseihen" while for instance using "ein Sieb" for "flour/sugar/sand" I would use "sieben"...("abgießen" is technically a different action = to empty the pot of water (+noodles) which you have to do first of course in order to put those into the sieve to then doing "abseihen") semantically there is a difference in meaning although "the action" is the same ...."sieben" means "to filter/to make fine/to refine" while "seihen" is just "to get rid of redundent liquid"..but for both kinds of action you are using "ein Sieb"= which could be used as a strainer or as a sieve

Hi. Thought by myself: "With these eyes, of course she must be very good at "eye talky"." 🤔😉 Try smoked parika powder. And get different variations / mixes of curry at your local indian shop. If you don't like the industrial honey, look for "Deutscher Imkerhonig". Best at your Farmers' market around the corner. I'm out. 💧the 🎙

My boyfriend likes curry, but I don't like the taste of it. We're both German. I'm more sensitive to tastes, flavors and smells. I often taste it something strongly when others only get a hint of it. And some smells I can absolutly not tolerate.

Hallo Osos Khalil, Jacob is a german name, but as with many names, there are similar names in many languages. In Poland and Slovakia, Slovenia and around Jacub is how it's written there. Familiar to you is probably Yaqub.

Considering how long you have been learning German, I think the results are comparatively poor. I have the impression that you don't try hard enough or don't take it seriously at all. Anyway, it sounds cute.
