Negative - the (initial) sole purpose of having nuclear weapons was to end a war and save a few hundred thousand American lives. That goal was accomplished - the political “fallout” and ensuing arms race was a secondary concern (and honestly - was inevitable anyways).

@@EstorilEm wrong. The purpose of the bombing of Japan was to end the war before the soviet union invaded Japan as the US did not want the soviets expanding their control into Asia. And also to make an indirect threat towards the soviets engaging in any other imperialism generally, often called 'nuclear diplomacy. Intercepted communications revealed that the emperor of Japan was willing to surrender provided Japan could maintain the monarchy. The US could have ended things in this way without the bombings, but Stalin said that if Japan had not surrendered by a certain date they would take matters into their own hands, and the US could not afford to wait for a negotiation with the emperor to end things.

Russia does not lead in anything militarily as they can't afford it. The US has the fastest missile in the world, the ground based midcourse defense which can travel mach 33(source below), the US spends so much money on military, no other single nation comes close. Which is good and bad since they money could be used on things like healthcare, homelessness, etc. Do not listen to Russian propaganda who says the US doesn't have hypersonic missiles and im not talking about ballistic missiles or missile defense. Google AIM 54. Mach 5, air to air missile, carried by the F14, developed in the 60s and operational in the 70s. But this goes against what the US generally likes, subsonic(best maneuverability), sea skimming(under the radar horizon aka stealth), missiles, where Russia prefers faster missiles. The issue with hypersonic missiles is something called plasma black out, the Russians said this was a "plasma shield" which can deflect jamming, radar waves. etc, but then how do you send your radar waves to guide the missile? LOL. Thats how bad their propaganda is, they try to turn a negative into a positive that is not scientifically possible.(source below) "The GBI consists of a 3-stage solid rocket boost vehicle which can place it's payload of an Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle outside the earth's atmosphere. In order to do this the missile must reach an escape velocity of more than 6.9 miles per second. This hypersonic speed is several times what a 7.62mm bullet travels leaving the muzzle of a gun. To put it another way, it reaches a speed of approximately Mach 33." "The US Department of Defense is not concerned that its in-development hypersonic missiles could suffer from a communications blackout caused by a cocoon of plasma. Radioing the high-stakes weapons could be critical, for instance, to abort a mission."

I don't think so. A ICBM with a large number of MIRV or MARV has greater payload and could not only carry more MIRV, but also more penaids (passive decoys and active ECM in order to disrupt or degrade enemy ABM systems, thus difficulting interception efforts). So I think it was a grave mistake to decomission the Peacekeepers and Midgetman ICBM systems. Now the LGM-30 are more of 60 years old, while the peer rivals have more highly capable ICBM force (the Topol-M, Yars and R36M-UTTH with the so-called Sarmat new missile). So I think it could make more sense not only improve the ABM defenses, but also to upgrade the current arsenal with heavier, more capable, extremely reliable and deadly accurate new ICBM's system.

A few single warhead 100mt+ tipped ones could be done with a Titan and modern physics but only one per warhead. US is moatly at sea btw, 80% of them where they can't be tracked. NATO has plans in place to attack their ground launched within 15-20 minutes. And then they would need to refuel be launch on top of that. Russia would be annihilatedff. 80% of theirs are land based, us 80% on subs. They'd loose.

The US also has the Ground based midcourse defense which is the fastest missile in the world at mach 33. The US has developed a really good propellent that is comparable to ramjet/scramjets. "The GBI consists of a 3-stage solid rocket boost vehicle which can place it's payload of an Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle outside the earth's atmosphere. In order to do this the missile must reach an escape velocity of more than 6.9 miles per second. This hypersonic speed is several times what a 7.62mm bullet travels leaving the muzzle of a gun. To put it another way, it reaches a speed of approximately Mach 33."

How does he know that the minute man is the best missile in the world? In other words aircraft and airfields can be attacked while they are parked on the ground. India Agni missile according to the Japanese has cep of 40 meters which seems to be better than the minute man 3.
@tekthappa54972 жыл бұрын
But Indian Agni 5 missile is far behind in range just 8000 km so how can that be world's best missile

@@Ptolemy38 Wrong. The Minuteman ICBMS are regularly updated where necessary. For example, faster computer hardware and software installed in Minuteman ICBMS. Improved updated guided systems installed in Minuteman ICBMS. It simply is good reliable ICBM. Don't need much maintenance. Hope we never have to use it. Too destructive killing machine. 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

they are not the best by far. Made in 60/65/70. Today you have more modern, faster maneuverable re-entry missiles. They are actually obsolete.😂

Ohhhhh……so Russias Hypersonic Nuclear Missiles, able to be launched from any platform, and unable to be detected until too late, are not more threatening than 50 year old technology?……And your use of “THE BEST” connotation is repulsive. How can ANY nuclear capable weapon be the “BEST”?……..They should all be banned, and not venerated by the warmongering USA.
