Nuclear weapons are one of the greatest ironies in history. The sole purpose of having nuclear weapons is to deter a nuclear war!!
@EstorilEm
@EstorilEm 4 жыл бұрын
Negative - the (initial) sole purpose of having nuclear weapons was to end a war and save a few hundred thousand American lives. That goal was accomplished - the political “fallout” and ensuing arms race was a secondary concern (and honestly - was inevitable anyways).

@@EstorilEm wrong. The purpose of the bombing of Japan was to end the war before the soviet union invaded Japan as the US did not want the soviets expanding their control into Asia. And also to make an indirect threat towards the soviets engaging in any other imperialism generally, often called 'nuclear diplomacy. Intercepted communications revealed that the emperor of Japan was willing to surrender provided Japan could maintain the monarchy. The US could have ended things in this way without the bombings, but Stalin said that if Japan had not surrendered by a certain date they would take matters into their own hands, and the US could not afford to wait for a negotiation with the emperor to end things.

Russia does not lead in anything militarily as they can't afford it. The US has the fastest missile in the world, the ground based midcourse defense which can travel mach 33(source below), the US spends so much money on military, no other single nation comes close. Which is good and bad since they money could be used on things like healthcare, homelessness, etc. Do not listen to Russian propaganda who says the US doesn't have hypersonic missiles and im not talking about ballistic missiles or missile defense. Google AIM 54. Mach 5, air to air missile, carried by the F14, developed in the 60s and operational in the 70s. But this goes against what the US generally likes, subsonic(best maneuverability), sea skimming(under the radar horizon aka stealth), missiles, where Russia prefers faster missiles. The issue with hypersonic missiles is something called plasma black out, the Russians said this was a "plasma shield" which can deflect jamming, radar waves. etc, but then how do you send your radar waves to guide the missile? LOL. Thats how bad their propaganda is, they try to turn a negative into a positive that is not scientifically possible.(source below) "The GBI consists of a 3-stage solid rocket boost vehicle which can place it's payload of an Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle outside the earth's atmosphere. In order to do this the missile must reach an escape velocity of more than 6.9 miles per second. This hypersonic speed is several times what a 7.62mm bullet travels leaving the muzzle of a gun. To put it another way, it reaches a speed of approximately Mach 33." "The US Department of Defense is not concerned that its in-development hypersonic missiles could suffer from a communications blackout caused by a cocoon of plasma. Radioing the high-stakes weapons could be critical, for instance, to abort a mission."

I don't think so. A ICBM with a large number of MIRV or MARV has greater payload and could not only carry more MIRV, but also more penaids (passive decoys and active ECM in order to disrupt or degrade enemy ABM systems, thus difficulting interception efforts). So I think it was a grave mistake to decomission the Peacekeepers and Midgetman ICBM systems. Now the LGM-30 are more of 60 years old, while the peer rivals have more highly capable ICBM force (the Topol-M, Yars and R36M-UTTH with the so-called Sarmat new missile). So I think it could make more sense not only improve the ABM defenses, but also to upgrade the current arsenal with heavier, more capable, extremely reliable and deadly accurate new ICBM's system.

You mean liquid fueled, lol not better at all. What we need are Titan sized ones again. With faster initial lift and bigger payloads. 7x MIRVs at 15mt would send a message esp with say 500-1000 missiles. A few single warhead 100mt+ tipped ones could be done with a Titan and modern physics but only one per warhead. US is moatly at sea btw, 80% of them where they can't be tracked. NATO has plans in place to attack their ground launched within 15-20 minutes. And then they would need to refuel be launch on top of that. Russia would be annihilatedff. 80% of theirs are land based, us 80% on subs. They'd loose.

@@AldoSchmedack MIRV missles with smaller warheads would provide better penetration and higher destruction. Shockwave overpressure decreases with the square of the distance. Small ICBM are more survivable because enemy simply needs more bombs do destroy your bombs. Turnsout that if you have heavy MIRVed ICBMs like R-36 multiple of your warheads can be destroyed by a single one. Russins build heavy ICBM not because this approach is superior, but because they are relatevly poor.

MM III is restricted to 3 Warheads but can carry at least 3 more or 6 total Warheads. We do have in the works a replacement system but with Biden in the WH who knows if it will be expedited into service by 2030. Note: Not only have the Russian systems demo about a 30% failure rate of the launch vehicle their Warheads also have similar failure to detonate triggering system. One of the issues the POTUS Trump had addressed was the US aged and compromised triggering system to bring them back up to the 95% range. CCP/PLA systems are not well understood, and their reliability is not known or at least not much has ever been published about their Strategic nuclear weapon systems.

Up to 12 MIRV'S with chaff & decoys and other countermeasures. "First Strike Capability" In my opinion and estimation the USAF should of never deactivated the 50 MX's that were on alert! Also what would have been very cost effective for the nation would have been slow replacement of the 400 or so Minuteman III with MX. If this was implemented America would have had a extremely powerfull deterent that would of been younger in age then the current Minuteman III force. I doubt the Sarmat will be as reliable in real combat situations as the Minuteman III. I don't think you're aware that when the USAF test launches a Minuteman III, they pick out one Minuteman III at random deployed in one of the Minuteman III bases, say in Montana or Wyoming, transport it to Vanderberg AFB in California and do a test launch. As an American🇺🇸 appalled at what Putin and Russia are doing to Ukraine and making nuclear threats to our Country and NATO I feel better and relieved knowing we have this ICBM defense! Thanks to everyone who has worked on,manned the silos and maintained these missiles to protect our Country! 🇺🇸Very much appreciated💪💪

Look up Trident 2/D5. It's sub launched, it's faster(mach 24 vs mach 23), the Minuteman has a 6000+ mile range, while the Trident 2/D5 has a 7500+ mile range. Everything the minuteman does the Trident does better.

Maybe, but in the event we ever launched them over there would be too many coming in to stop them all. These would be launched so would the trident sub launched, then the Bombers would be launching simultaneously. They would be overwhelmed, but we probably would too.

What is best? Everything the USA makes is the best? A missile developed in the 1960s cannot be in anyway or form be compared with a missiles built recently i.e. composite rocket motors etc. There are other missiles that are better than minute man other than the Russian missile. Luanchers are not needed today inorder to validate reliablity. This is done with computers i.e. health monitoring of systems etc.

No need, it already goes mach 23, the Trident 2/D5 which is better in every way, goes mach 24(while be sub launced). The US also has the Ground based midcourse defense which is the fastest missile in the world at mach 33. The US has developed a really good propellent that is comparable to ramjet/scramjets. "The GBI consists of a 3-stage solid rocket boost vehicle which can place it's payload of an Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle outside the earth's atmosphere. In order to do this the missile must reach an escape velocity of more than 6.9 miles per second. This hypersonic speed is several times what a 7.62mm bullet travels leaving the muzzle of a gun. To put it another way, it reaches a speed of approximately Mach 33."
