Oh great more breed mythology... Anyone who has working dogs knows bigger is far from better. Besides folklore and breed mythology what type of health testing or working test were done in this "program?" Any vids that show any type of working ability or athletic ability to prove this is not a Low Energy dog with poor structure and movement? Which is typical of most of the dogs used to create this mixed breed. Taking big breeds with a laundry list of health problems due to breeding them for size and bragging about making them even bigger is actually below novice stuff. This dog has nothing to do with any ancient dogs. It a large dog created from current mastiff stock.

That's also what jumped out at me. He keeps invoking the idea that this breed is from 3200 - 5000 BC There's no way of knowing exactly what dogs used in war were like, we have some sparse pieces of art with dogs on it, that’s far from precise knowledge. He’s looking at old paintings and sculptures and making his dog feel prestigious rather than looking at what’s the closest representative (mastiffs and the like). It’s also a big red flag to me when these large dog breeders obsess over size, like living vicariously throughout their dogs. They needed "really thick torso, massive square head", to fight humans in war and have to take on lions & bears. Really? They need to get to be 250lbs to take on an animal that’s 450lbs, or 1000lbs? How do wolves, jackles, hounds take down prey, huge size or pack hunting? I’m not a dog expert by any stretch, tell me if I’m wrong but my BS meter is going off the charts with this guy.

depends on what you like and what you desire to have in your dog I agree that the rolling gait isn't the most aesthetically pleasing but that is very much so a mastiff thing.... I much prefer personally presa Canario, cane cross, dogo Argentino for their structural soundness and working potential, this is as stated a estate guardian or close quarter guard based on size and substance like the body guards of old.... very interesting project all the same

It has nothing to do with crossing two members of the same species. This channel has great content. I'm sure this gentleman loves those puppies -- and I have no doubt he has done a great deal of research. The farther dogs stray from nature's idea of "canine", the more problems go along with it. This never varies. The dog pays in one way, the owner pays in other ways, the vets have to try to compensate for what no one wants to really discuss, the trainers have to tell the truth.

Have this dog's hips x-rayed. He is lame with limited range of motion on the rear right hip at 0:58 Would like to see more health info on these videos that highlight "extreme and exotic" breeders. Orthopedic issues, bone cancer and life expectancy would be a good start when breeding for extreme size. Some breeders on this channel are very responsible; these Bully and "extreme/exotic" breeders as they call themselves never say a single word about health testing - and theyre the ones who need it the most.

This is true. Zero agility or stamina. Dogs like this can only sit chained next to a stationary object to protect it. Any real work would result in orthopedic injuries and the dog choking on it's own skin and phlegm.

Hello Kitty Exactly, these dogs are just oversized Brindle Neo mastiffs, If people really want a dog that looked like the ancient Mollosus than go for a Ca Shepherd, or Great pyreness.

One litter of mixed breed puppies doesn’t make a new breed. He simply has a cross breed or hybrid dog. You only have achieved a new breed when those dogs can mate with each other and produce litters that exhibit the breed characteristics. For example, breeding two Yorkiepoos doesn’t produce a Litter of Yorkiepoos.

This is beyond selfish. There are so many dogs in shelters that need loving homes, and this guy wants to resurrect an old breed? If you love large mastiff types, start an animal rescue and pull these dogs out of shelters. Advocate for adoption.

This is great, I use to breed these many years ago under a different name. Mine had the same color. I had a 180 pound female that could leap a 6ft fence without touching it. She had amazing confirmation, and at 30 inches tall, she looked like a giant Cane Corso, and had the same attitude. She looked like a horse running, and could actually outrun and take down deer. Most of my others looked thicker, and were not as quick, but were longer lived than English mastiffs, and had few health problems. The best way I have found is to use a cross between a Neo and Cane Corso female, with a huge muscled set of hips. The Cane Corso puts far stronger hips into the breed. Then use a massive English Mastiff with with the type of big hips, and the thick head and chest. These are hard to find now, but their are still some in Texas. When you put these together you have the actual old type fighting Molossus. Please note, the Cane Corso is the oldest unbroken Molussus breed, that dates all the way back to the Roman Empire. The Neo is only a few hundred years old, and split in an attempt to breed larger types, but about 70 years or so, more types of Mastiff blood was introduced making the Neo what it is now. I prefer they Neo of the 1940's before the breed was tinkered with. This is why I say to breed in a Cane Corso of powerful type. Inside that Cane Corso is the size, athletic ability, and temp you need. Look at my Cane Corso Lobo, already 170 pounds of massive muscle and drive. This is what you need.

Dna is americna bulldog standard and neopolitan show class for my bandogges parents an neopolitan working class and old English show class for the mother. They all have amazing temper playfulness square jaws perfect hips an no parents or grandparents has those issues either let alone no allergies to foods I’ve seen and no skin problems. Very pretty dogs

Ancient Molossus may have disappeared after the fall of Rome. Either die at war or owners could not keep up with them do to economy and cross breeding. Even today no conclusive prove tell us what the original Molossus may have look like. After the 1300 Neapolitans and Corsos where choose to be the closest comparison to that beautiful ancient puppy. 🙏

The Neapolitan Mastiff itself has only been around since the end of World War 2 when the number of original Cane Corso was greatly decreased and people started introducing other breeds into the Corso blood. These dogs are nothing like the ancient dogs. The old world dogs where not unbalanced, awkwardly moving dogs. This first generation will most likely have some serious health issues. If he outcrossed to South African Boerboels, Turkish Malki or American Mastiffs then these health issues would be corrected. I wish him well with his endeavors.
