Hahahaha more like you're tuned into CNN news and this is Don Lémon. Don says, "I don't do opinion, I report facts..." That was comedic gold, like when he attempted to debate Milwaukee county sheriff David Clarke overcpolice shootings... Don, "sheriff Clarke there was a study done by (forgot name of institution but place it here), and it was saying that unarmed back men are much more likely to be victims of police brutality." Clarke, " yeah I have also read that same study. (I forgot David Clarke's exact words in rebuttal to lemons claim but you can see the debate on KZbin lol but it was dissenting from lémons statement.) The best part of that debate was Lémons next sentence, and basically it was something like... Lémon, "well that just goes to show not every study is a credible one..." LMFAO!!!! It was a credible study when Don references it but when Clarke's rebuttal of it was completely different. It was no longer a credible study...just like CNN being a credible " News source" I wouldn't believe everything Tucker says either but I have to admit that he rips on everybody when they're doing anything that the general public would be questionable of...he's on Fox so he is conservative but he's not bound to the conservative party specifically because he calls out Republicans as well as progressives too... It's just the progressive wokedumb nonsense is baffling to any rational person...And it also makes one think... "Do they even hear themselves talking?" And the answer is no they don't even listen to themselves because they'll say they can't define a woman, but then scream and jump up and down for women's rights...weird how that is "normal" in their rationality

True, most everyone misses Tucker Carlson tonight. However, his podcast is pretty great. Conservative programming is truly dominating all mediums. You can tell this weak sister isn't a conservative. There is no power or conviction in his delivery or content. Oh, he just mentioned that Tucker is a speaker for this event. Thank God! It is truly a contrast from the entertaining and dynamic flexion that Tucker brings as opposed to Ben Stein's stunt double that introduced the talent. Bueller? Buelle? Anyone? Anyone?

Tucker is a far better speaker than Eric Alterman. Much better and a better presenter of his positions and analogies. Eric is pretty typical of the liberal position....throw some fact and other eye wash and play the shell game. Tucker lays out a solid comparison. Most journalists are from middle to upper class families and are pretty much socially liberal. So their opinion show up in their "reporting". Nice Job on both but Tucker wins in a land slide.

Hardly requires any debate. The majority of the media is left-leaning. If you do not see this than you are either ignorant or suffering from your own bias/denial. Funny how right-wing books are always hitting the bestseller charts these days. Perhaps it shows how liberal the average media outlet has become. Maybe that's why book sales for 'right wing' books are so much larger. `

The American News Media serves one purpose: it is a public-relations/advertisement venue for the corporate masters that OWN it or have enough money to purchase spots to put their content on it (commercials, news stories, product spots, documentaries, etc.) all of which serve one purpose: to present you the "facts" and categories that they believe will improve their business conditions. The idea that people even use value-laden categories like "the liberal media" (i.e., the ones that the media itself gives them to use) instead of making up their own categories based on reality such as "the corporate-owned media" prevents people from truly thinking outside of the bounds that the businesses that own the media provide for us to view the world, so as to prepare the consumer to understand the world in a way that benefits their business interests. If you use their terms, you are already under their influence. Period.

Bias is a bad thing if it means you can't keep an open mind and aren't open to learning new things. But if bias simply means that one is left-leaning or right-leaning, then it becomes a discussion of which political view is correct. Many have a bias for appreciating this country, all those who fought for it, people that stand by the Constitution, etc. These people would be considered as having a "right-wing" bias by todays standards. Is this really a bad thing? Big difference between fighting for the correct beliefs and simply not being open to other's ideas/opinions.

Lack of diversity in terms of ethnicity is a widely recognized issue in the workplace, which is why the media, among other industries, spend a lot of money and time to hire people from minority groups who mirror the diversity of the population. The diversity of the outward appearance, mind you, not the manifold worlds of thought. "You can't cover America until you have a newsroom that LOOKS like America." Unfortunately, it's not recognized when it comes to groupthink and lack of objectivity. "What about a newsroom that THINKS like America?" ~Tucker Carlson

What I find hilarious is you're not one bit acknowledging the shift that has occurred in the left-wing news media and the Democrat party at large, and you are pretending that a modern leftist would even be able to sit across from Tucker Carlson today as Eric did in this video. Conversely, I'd be willing to wager that the same old Tucker Carlson would be more than willing to engage in this same forum today and would be polite in his discourse. The conservative movement is having all of its influential figures being banned off of social media platforms, choked out of search engines via algorithms, and apps being kicked off of the Apple App Store. You're being facetious because the only party that has changed vastly since 2008 is the Democrat Party. We are at a place where you can't even bring up the immigration debate without being accused of being racist, even though it's a completely legitimate debate that needs to be had. That's just one instance out of many that shows how intolerant the left has become. You're being facetious if you think Donald Trump is so far off base from traditional Republican positions. Are you angry that he wasn't a NeoCon, or is it just that you thought he was mean? You're spreading the lie that his policy decisions greatly strayed from Ronald Reagan's and they didn't. What I think is more likely is that you didn't start paying attention to politics until 2016 and you are a low-information voter.

@@hughmungus7425 sorry, I'll summarize for you to understand. As per my last response, I'd recommend looking beyond a dualistic mindset when starting arguments. I chose to comment before on the Swanson family inheritance because I found it entertaining in context of when the statement was made. Why? It's humorous to be to consider "reasonably affluent by international standards" as any metric you can prove, but if you are comparing income, Carlson is in a VERY high percentage of the world, as am I by simply being an upper middle class educated American citizen. What does it add? See "entertainment" Was it a meme? Shockingly enough, no, if wasn't but I'd love to see a 3 paragraph meme with citations included going viral. Frankly, the fact that you need to respond to my 1 comment on 1 line of this video shows you need validation to expunge your options unsolicited. Mike, a snip from my term paper Still, it does provide the quintessential defense offered by many liberals over the years (that talk radio, Fox News and pundits on political shows easily make up for whatever liberal reporters and pundits can be found everywhere else). Like the ones similarly offering that defense, Alterman discounts the huge advantage based on the audience size of ABC, NBC and CBS, along with classifying some pundits as conservative who I would never grant such a designation to

A forum questioning whether bias is left or right slams Fox News in the intro... allows the left-wing speaker go last to question Tucker's points and says "Tucker is ACTUALLY a pretty good journalist" while figuratively patting him on the head. Today, Tucker comes into our living rooms nightly with meaningful important discussion... does anyone know the other guy? Outside of lunatic left-wing circles that is? Answer is no (thought I'd throw in my own bias there). And the left-winger lied repeatedly and added nothing of value to the discussion. No surprise of course.

There is a reason why the Left is so prevalent in Media. Newscasters, actors, talk show hosts, comedians and even politicians...are usually the personality types that seek recognition and crave attention. They must have others believing what they do. This is why they permeate the airwaves of communications. However...because their lives were engaged in obtaining this exposure, they remain oblivious to how superficial their understanding is. They know the appearance of emotion, intelligence, understanding...but often lack the substance of it. They must maintain appearances desperately for livelihood, so are easily persuaded by the media and peer pressure...even though it misrepresents reality, science, events, etc. It is sad to behold so many falling to the illusion of the modern liberal facade. They think they are in the majority...but reality keeps hitting them. People like their entertainment...but take their opinions only with a grain of salt. That’s real life. They are no more “special” than the average person. Trump knows deep down he is not superior and doesn’t really care. It’s why he takes credit where he can, because that’s all there is to get out of it politically while losing his own money...and this perspective is why he fires or hires anyone solely on performance, competence, and merit. This is why the Left self-described elites hate him...because they want to feel “special”...above the average person relying only on appearances. His blunt populist rejection of their “superior” nonsense horrifies the Left. And btw...why is the Left so ignorant when it comes to economics? It’s like math and logic scared them in school.

How refreshing to listen to somebody who doesn't claim to be an expert in anything, but happens to be curious enough to be interested in truth. I loved this debate, it was very sensible. I also noticed the date because I was wondering why we had no hooting and hollering in the audience. Tucker has done some wonderful stories, one that focused on how corporations were buying up companies and instead of building them up, ran them into the ground and chopped them up and sold them. I don't remember the particulars but all the people who worked in these companies lost their jobs. But then I'd watch him again and he'd be totally (in my opinion) off the wall. I need to look up Eric Alterman, I really like him. He thinks very much the way I do. I used to be a conservative, I loved O'Riley (oh boy) but have become a democrat because I don't recognize the GOP anymore.
@Aleksamson
@Aleksamson 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. You use to be conservative, You loved O'Riley and now You don't recognise the GOP and you became a Democrat. I was always a liberal and my views haven't changed. Never liked O'Riley or Tucker Carlson back then. Decade ago when he was wearing bowtie. Makes sense that you don't recognise the GOP. Things have changed, flipped 180. Conservatives in 2022 are more liberal than so called liberals nowadays. Many ppl. are doing just the opposite of you. Lifelong dems. are switching sides. So maybe you should try to understand their perspective. I'd say that I don't recognise democrats anymore. In fact I recognise that if you care about freedom and equality for all...GOP is the lesser evil.
@crystalbernard9488
@crystalbernard9488 Жыл бұрын
@@Aleksamson I cannot believe Dems are switching sides, particularly now. The GOP does not believe in compromise, they want the U.S. to FORCE the rest of the world to do what we want. They are going to get a dictatorship if they vote in Trump in again. And it's not like you'll be able to say, oh, we made a mistake, we'll vote him out now. Once he's in again they will change all the rules and make it unchangeable to go back. It will be too late. There certainly is evil in this world and Trump and his gang are the living embodiment of it.

@@crystalbernard9488 Dictatorship? So Trump didn't succeed the first time in office but the second time he will? You think he can change the two term rule and he will -appoint himself a dictator for life? I think it's more likely that DeSantis will run (supported by Trump) do you think the same thing about DeSantis? Sounds like you think that GOP and half of the country are evil (the living embodiment of it) Don't you think that statements -mentality like that has something to do with Hateful division? "they want the U.S. to FORCE the rest of the world..." Maybe you should listen to ppl. like Matt Taibbi and Glen Greenwald. Consider what so many left wing progressives have to say about the evil in this world. Like compare to Biden and Dem's on corporatism, censorship and Militarism ! Trump was a lesser evil.

@@Aleksamson I do believe, and we all know the corporations and wealthy are controlling both sides. At least the Dems will keep the hand outs to Israel at bay better then Trump. And we are more likely to stay out of a war with the Democrats. You are correct I don't like DeSantis either. A few years back instead of taking a tour of Florida and finding out what we needed he took 100 cronies (partly on tax payer dollars, maybe all on tax payers) to go see what Israel needed. What is happening in Florida (over development is NOT what we needed) is a few developers are getting rich and funding campaigns, we the people have no say in any of it.

Again, check what some left wing progressives are saying about democrats and their foreign policy. Try Jimmy Dore. Better yet, Glenn Greenwald.

Ran out of characters. To expand on that already posed, I wrote a college paper on the professional liars who control most of what people on Earth hear each day disguised as news. The segment clipped above is from that paper. It should have quotes, though I took them out for space. Alterman is either a liar (one of many like Ed Schultz, Chris Matthews, Katie Couric, Brian Williams) or a sucker, swallowing their daily deceit, that while twisting events in making a very weak case in his book.

But do you need news media? Biased or not. Will it change your opinion? Does your opinion need to change? At the level of your individual socially and geographically limited life, why do/should we care about stuff in the world? It's not being sinister, it is about being pragmatic. Of course there are stuff that are relevant, but not all.

⭐️ We have (supposedly) an unbiased news reporting in NZ. Reporters must legally give both sides and not show facial expressions or bias statements. Otherwise it's journalism. Which comes on after the news. Free for all type discussion. So no one has a claim to begin with..it's open. No one agreed with bombing a whole country for it's minority beliefs, however.

It would be nice but their ideologies run the exact opposite to eachother. Liberals want big goverment in financial sector but no goverment in personal freedom and conservatives want a moral high ground goverment that stays out of the financial bits. I think the majority of people are moderates and thus both parties play to the emotions since emotions are the easiest way to change s persons mind long enough to win a vote. It is actually very manipulative and maddening, if you think about it.

the liberal makes the case as to why News companies must be separate from any other corporate entity. They can't report on their parent. As these parents have gotten larger and larger, the question becomes, who can they report on? not only that their parent companies all have a common interest, so reporters can't report on corporate interest in general. Which is why in the 15 yrs since this debate, news has disappeared and been replaced by corporate propaganda machines.
