Don sounded great for 75! Home Free was just amazing too. When Don received the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame he asked HF to join him and they did. Loved they all got a part and loved the boxes as this was during Covid and I thought it was clever. They also do a great rendition of Vincent with Don that’s even better I think!

Love this remake of this classic song. Can't believe it came out 50 years ago. Don McLean still has a good voice for his age. And love hearing all the guys take a turn in a verse. Poor Adam had to do such a long stretch of beatboxing but he nailed it. Think the song is about 8 min. long. Don McLean received his Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame recently & Home Free was invited to sing a portion of this song there. What an honor for them. "American Pie" pays tribute to the loss of 3 legends who died so young (Buddy Holly, Richie Valens & The Big Bopper). A lot of references in the song are made to many artists from the early days of music including Elvis, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Byrds & others.
@ronaldsinagra88255 ай бұрын
This song is about the deaths of singers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and radio DJ/singer J. P. Richardson - 'The Big Bopper' - in a plane crash in 1959. Rumor has it 'the king' is Elvis Presley, and 'the jester' is Bob Dylan.

I think you would love their version of the song "The Driver", a tribute to the common worker which also invokes a music theme. Exquisite harmonies abound! Not reacted to as much as some of their more popular ones but gorgeous non the less.

Home Free has done several covers with the original legends: "Elvira" with The Oakridge Boys, "God Bless the USA" with Lee Greenwood, "Christmas In Dixie" with Alabama, and (although I haven't been able to find a video of it) "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" with Charlie Daniels. And, as others have already mentioned, they recently covered "Vincent" with Don Maclean. Even when they're not working with the original artists, they still respect the original music, while still making it their own.

The "day the music died" was February 3, 1959...when a small plane crash ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4KpgGmfqNSlfMk ) took the lives of three of the most promising rock & rollers of that time: Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and J. P. Richardson ("The Big Bopper".) Years later, Don released "American Pie" with all kinds of coded references to that sad event, and the loss of innocence in music, in general. This remake was Don's celebration (with Home Free's assistance) of the 50th anniversary of the song...and they scheduled the release of the video on February 3.

The legendary status of our Home Free vocalists just keeps mounting to greater accolades that is very deserving of our attention. They are simply amazing and yet they are very humble. It is a privilege to enjoy their vocal gifts!!!! Every part of their journey is extremely important and significant to Home Free and is to be celebrated. Their respect for all the groups they interact with is paying off in mega-dividends back to them. They are very intentional with their respect and are extremely humble. They look for the good in others on purpose. They look to collaborate not only with established stars but make opportunities with new rising talented artists as others have done for them. They are what is right for this industry that makes us all fall in love with them individually and collectively as Home Free!!!! They with their leadership are bringing us all along for the ride for the right reasons. Long Live Home Free!!!! ❣

They released this on the 50th anniversary of the release of when the original was released They won 3 Telly awards for this version and was invited to sing a small part of the song when Don McLean got his Star on The Walk Of Fame

Great reaction to this new rendition and dare I say, classic made new! Don sounds fantastic and love how #HomeFree always allows the featured artist to shine. They never disappoint! Suggestions: Vincent feat Don McLean for obvious reasons! Take Me Home Country Roads - it’s said that they spent 5 years working on their arrangement until they felt John Denver would approve. I Can’t Outrun You - for pure 5-part harmonies; video concept and direction by Chance. Might As Well Be Me - an original by Tim - please pause to read their bios and written answers which will add to the hilarity. One Man Band - apparently shot in one take. The Stargazer Trilogy - originals by Austin: Chapter 1 - Give Me A Sign Chapter 2 - Stargazer Lillies Chapter 3 - Mr.

Since you asked about other singers. The 3 top acapella bands are: Home Free, Voiceplay, and Pentatonix. All 3 participated in seasons of the Sing Off which was a competition for acapella singers. PENTATONIX won against 15 other groups in 2011. HOME FREE won the next year. VOICEPLAY also competed the same year as Home Free. Don't miss out on the other 2 fantastic bands. PENTATONIX does many pop songs but they "own " Christmas songs. They are the youngest group and have a female with 4 guys. VOICEPLAY covers all genres . Because some of the guys worked at Disney and other parks in Florida, they are sometimes very theatrical. They have done several Disney medleys, Their bass, Geoff Castelucci, has a 5 octave range singing tenor all the way down to subharmonic. He has is own channel where he clones himself and does 4 & 5 part harmony. You will be blown away by the covers that are done in costume and professional makeup. Each of these groups has HUNDREDS of covers. Many have been viewed by millions. Jump in!!! You are missing so much.

Love this version of American Pie and Adam is the Drums if you listen to his beatboxing. Have watched this reaction numerous times. I love to see the people's reactions to Home Free. Check out Home Free singing all acapella "How Great Thou Art" Right before Covid and cut their European concert tour short. For a real laugh (they kept us entertained during the lockdown) "Quarantine" is an original short but so funny. American Pie was done during Covid and each part was sung in Home Free's home setup studios I think Don was at an actual studio and was edited to make the video. Oh Ps: Was funny seeing my owls on your shelf. Loved it. Pss: I got my tickets to see Home Free in September. Yeah.

Truly a great cover. I loved seeing how you were so into the song, mouthing the words along with them (and actually singing a time or two). Now that you have listened to both Home Free and Pentatonix, please try the remaining one of the big three a capella groups, Voiceplay. They have a lot of great song and tend to be pretty theatrical. If you know the song We Don't Talk About Bruno, from Disney's Encanto, they have an amazing cover of that. Another fantastic song to try from them would be Valhalla Calling. If you are impressed with the bass tones here, I think you will be truly impressed with Voiceplay, also. Their bass, Geoff Castellucci is absolutely fantastic.
