Western Sahara is contested and there are disputes about international recognition, that's why it is highlighted with Morocco. Interestingly northern Cyprus is not highlighted the same way with Turkey. The island north of the UK are the Faroer Islands, which are part of the autonomous regions of Denmark. Also: 100%, but it is very easy if you have the rest of the map to get geographical context (like relative size and location on the planet). It is way more difficult if you just get the country borders and no additional information.

They are using Mercator's projection so the areas get disproportionally bigger the further you get to the poles. Iceland, for instance, is only about a third the size of Poland. You did really well! Sounds like you should do a little research into the islands of the world lol Greenland was highlighted along with the Faroe Islands because they are autonomous communities of Denmark a bit like how Britain has dependencies such as Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands amongst others and the US has territories like Puerto Rico and Guam. The islands off Africa that are owned by Spain are the Canary Islands and are a very popular tourist destination for Europeans. They are home to such islands as Tenerife and Gran Canaria which are some of the most popular destinations for British tourists though I don't imagine these places are particularly familiar to Americans.
