"This confession has meant nothing..."
With its ambiguous ending American Psycho remains one of the best movies of all time. Do not be confused people, this is not a story about murder or psychopath running around killing people. This is a rather grotesque way of showing the face of our society. A simple craving of us to stand out be different and not fall into a generic Paul Allens, Smiths or any character you see in the movie.
I would recommend reading a book American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, you will definitely love it.
I tried to be rather original in this one, I hope you'll like it.
A list of people who are very dear to me:
Oskar Frode, Kira Ernst, Maggie Seider, Carpine Olivier, Kieran Rice, Bethany Vann, Jonathan Kuruc, Flor Tejada, Jack McCann, Georgia Kelly, Henning Just, Andrew Sinnott, Bilaal Afzal, "retonho", Lachie Gordon, Sean Stubblefield, Matt Zweig, Ivan Malov, Christian Mitchell, Kirk Beatson, Maike Waldorf, Michael Robb, Matthew Webb, Joe Lott, Camille Bulaclac, Rachel, Tuck Carrara, Robin Robinson, Janis Lapels, Sebastian G, Joseph Wittmann, Luke Ecock, Teo, Nicholas and Vittoria Ortepi, Grace, Aidan Heaney, Brittany Tenhage, Bagelbaker, Tanja Strietzel, Tom Mcdonald, Sawyer, Nicholas Abad, Yannick Tänzler.
You make my life better !
You people are awesome ! I hope you'll stay awesome !

I have decided to pursue filmmaking, support my studies and aspirations through the link: gofund.me/8a222bb9 I have to bring you an important update. In pursuing a career in filmmaking, I have sent my applications to various universities and have been admitted to most of them. After careful consideration, I have chosen to study at SDSU starting in September, a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Media Production. I update you on my journey openheartedly, precisely the same way I would speak to my dear friend. It is because you have been with me for years that I can share my successes and failures with commensurate elation or sorrow. However, I have come to some financial difficulties during my arduous mission. It is no news that I come from an unprivileged family, and from a country that has an average family income of $400 per month, but despite all that I have managed to save up about $20k to cover my studies. Yet, I have crashed into a wall too thick and tall to overcome. I find that I would need another at least $20k amount of money to cover most of my university expenses during my first year there. I tell you this now because I have exhausted the other means to acquire the funding. Thus, I must say if you think that I am worthy of a single penny from your pocket, then I implore you to aid me to pursue my dream. I am collecting any amount that you can spare: www.paypal.me/thegarostudios If you require a letter for proof of admission, email me at studiosgaro@gmail.com

Marcus Tullius Cicero expect that’s a psychopath so numb he desensitised to everything and the only that gives him a mere feel for excitement is killing and or committing crime that’s what makes a psychopath. Psychopaths have no emotions. Patrick Bateman is a psychopath. There’s not such thing as psychopathic emotions, and all psychopaths are prone to violence due to the way their brain is wired. It’s called the dark triad.

I love the scene where he says “I guess I’m a pretty sick guy”. Christian Bale really made it feel real. You can see he’s holding back a breakdown as he presses his lips and nods in denial of the truth while blinking rapidly. Christian Bale made that scene feel like it was actually happening. The incredibly realistic human behaviour he's able to act out is just incredible. I feel that was truly the one and only time Patrick Bateman felt vulnerable and it shows with that acting performance. Great work

He is an amazing character, and I know that bret ellis was making a statement or observation about modernity and male behaviour in that time, but the character is also a serial killer, canible, lifeless freak, I know you that you already know that, I like pointing it out cus it makes me more weirdly intrigued about the whole film. The whole film is amazing, it's funny, ridiculous, and incredibly disturbing all at once. And it's truely a unique film, made from a unique book
@Nick-X
@Nick-X 4 жыл бұрын
@@joeellislive I have to disagree, your use of the word 'lifeless' is off. I know what you meant, which is that he's soulless, or spiritually void, which he clearly admits to and is immediately apparent - But lifeless? Fuck no. He's insane, but his life is what's both horrific, hysterical and utterly compelling - A hyper-materialistic, schizophrenic, psychopathic, cartoonishly narcissistic serial killer, that spends his time waxing lyrical about the musical virtuosity of Phil Collins and Whitney Houston just before making recordings of hookers eating each others asses and eventually taking chunks out of them, hunting and killing them with chainsaws in the nude and hanging them up in closets...and then, trying and failing to separate this ever-present bloodlust from his shallow girlfriend, his life wining and dining at the finest yuppie eateries in New York with his cohorts, trying to evade the police for his heinous crimes, his hysterical uncomfortableness around gay Louis and constantly attempting to contend with his urge to kill the one person he appears to have a glimmer of genuine affection for...and oh yeah, trying to convince Koreans to wash his 'Cranberry' stained sheets - I'd say, if Patrick were real, he would have, hands down, one of the most interesting lives of human living or dead. The fact that he is devoid of a moral compass or sense of right and wrong, shouldn't be conflated with being 'lifeless'. He's full of life, it's just that he's also full murder, insanity and Huey Lewis monologues, which makes him one of the greatest characters ever to have been conjured from the mind of man. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to return some videotapes.

I’d say the message at the end isn’t that he’s insane and fantasized it, but that the society doesn’t care he killed those people because he’s successful and they’re just as self obsessed.

It`s the " halo effect". It`s not just the success it`s because he is handsome and sjarming on a superfical narcissistic level. Alot of people love to adore actors/narcissists and the super shallow, but they also love people who are super deep, with scars of life in a estetic way ( they often only like the scared when it is cool/sexy/estetic etc). The only thing normal people hate is other normal people. Bateman`s problem is that he is a total narcissist and have deep self-esteem issues, he dont even like his shallow lifestyle and envies his friends who lives a identical life. People who are not traumatised or narcissistic ,see how patetic and sad life he and how shallow his "friends" are

the scary thing is, I actually know people like him. maybe not the murdering part, but the psychopathy, the narcissism and the inflicting of pain onto others because they know they can never be a "normal human" and want others to suffer like they do.

Christian Bales performance in American Psycho is extremely outstanding. Which is why I look up to him not only as an actor but as a person. He really made the audience believe that they were there and that it was happening. Bale's dedication and hard work really made the movie. It really felt as if he was an actual psycho. I will continue to believe for as long as I live that Christian Bale's performance is really the best acting performance of all time.

Nah man the point of the movie is that the yuppie culture is so sick and inhuman that a serial killer can confess to his crimes to a LAWYER, but since he's a member of the yuppie society his actual personality and life doesn't matter since he outwardly fits into the yuppie culture.
