Thanks for reacting to this. I'm a huge fan of VoicePlay and of Geoff. This has a 'sequel' that came out a few weeks ago, "I See Fire." Deeper than this. Geoff's cover of Ain't No Sunshine is epic. For VoicePlay, you might try their covers of Dream On or Nothing Else Matters. They have an incredibly varied catalogue & everything is excellent, but those might appeal to you guys. Or Valhalla Calling. In general, their musicianship and creativity is very high, so any title that appeals will be good. They're 100% indie, and do everything themselves except for the final audio edit. (I subscribed via your coverage of Ren, and prior to Ren I didn't like rap or hip hop, things change.)

This is from the movie The Hobbit. Geoff has a five octave range and will usually multiply himself on screen to show that he is singing all of the harmonies. His bass might not be the lowest but it is the most rounded and bell like. The most beautiful, if you will. You want to hear an Acapella fight song listen to Valhalla Calling by VoicePlay which is his group he sings with.😊

The three biggest a capella groups are Pentatonix, VoicePlay, and Home Free. Each have a fantastic bass singer who has also done some solo work. My favorite of these is VoicePlay and Geoff, partly for the richness of Geoff's voice, but also because they have really creative arrangements. The bass from Home Free (Tim Foust) also did a version of this song with Peter Hollens. It's an interesting contrast.

You'd like Geoff's group VoicePlay and their cover of "Valhalla Calling" by Miracle of Sound. They prove that rap and acapella work together... with VIKINGS! Plus Geoff hits a frigging B0. He's basically a walking an 808 bass drop. VoicePlay is one of the Big Three of Acapella and known for theatrics and elaborate costumes.

Geoff has such a good voice. I’m glad bass vocals are coming back into music. This song has been covered by many. Even Tim Foust from HomeFree did a duet with Peter Hollens. Speaking of Home Free, their video for “This is How We Roll” is an homage to ‘The Big Lebowski’. It’s funny, if you know the movie.

Close Don, close!! The handshake is derived from the original greeting, which was gripping the forearm. That was the check for hidden weapons and meeting your potential assassin. Got another for you though? You know when you cheers each other with your pint pot? That was done in taverns etc and you made sure you got some of your drink in theirs. It was just in case someone had slipped poison in to your drink while you weren't looking. If they tried to kill YOU the YOU would take them out too. Geoff Castelucci has a crazy bass voice. He has incredible range also, right up through baritone to tenor. He actually hits natural sub-harmonics when he resonates that low bass. This song (as you found out) is from The Hobbit where Aragorn and the company of Dwarves meet at Bilbo Baggins' house. You need to check out his cover of "I see fire" by Ed Sheeran, it's even more stunning than this. It's super difficult to record 4 different parts, all separate from each other yet Geoff does it seamlessly!!!

This is from the first Hobbit movie. One man. What's better than one Geoff, it's four Geoffs. The group he is bass for is VoicePlay. He got the Dwarfs back in his newest release of "I See Fire' from the second Hobbit movie Desolation of Smaug. Which dropped on June the 9th.

Congrats and flowers to you for catching that it is indeed one person. Two reactors that I watched yesterday both thought it was a group and wondered why the other guys weren’t named. If you check the description all the way at the bottom he will go ahead and list all of the credits. In this one it was himself, his wife who managed the cameras and a make up artist friend. That’s it. Geoff did the arrangement, the concept, acquiring the costumes, lining up the venue and friend who does the make up, the video edits, and the initial sound edits. Then it goes to Ed Boyer who is the king of a cappella mixers who also mixes for HomeFree, Pentatonix, all the big a cappella groups. Geoff and Tim Foust became friends on Sing Off Tour. Geoff uses subharmonics for the lowest notes and Tim uses the growl technique. To the best of my knowledge neither of them uses throat singing. You look to be the right age and temperament for gaming. You might want to check out some of VoicePlay’s video game theme covers. From Assassin’s Creed they covered My Mother Told Me and more recently Valhalla Calling. They have also performed the HALO theme, Dragonborn/Skyrim and others. Due to their willingness to dress up, and trying to cover the feeling of a song besides just singing it, they are known as the theater kids of a cappella. I hope you check them out and if so I will be back.

This is from the movie, The Hobbit. The one he just dropped is from the 2nd film, the Desolution of Smaug (who is a very nasty dragon). VoicePlay (Geoff's group) also have a couple of exceptional Viking songs - My Mother Told Me, Valhalla Calling, some gaming music videos - Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, the Halo theme. They have done some rock - Carry On My Wayward Son (Kansas), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), yesterday the dropped In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins), an apocalyptic trilogy - Warriors (Imagine Dragons), Dream On (Aerosmith), Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Queen in 5 Minutes, Friends on the Other Side. Last fall they did In the Hall Of the Mountain King - an orchestral movement by Edvard Grieg WAY BACK in 1875. See what VoicePlay did with that!

Still love Pentatonix for a capella - esp. the Daft Punk medley, but this was nice. For this song, I like the movie version most as it's sung by the dwarvish king who has been displaced since the dragon burnt down the village and took over their home (and gold) in the mountain. The remaining members of his bloodline surround and sing with him about crossing the mountains and getting their home back. (There’s also a bit of foreshadowing that the journey will be haunting, and things might not go so well.) Second best version I think is the Peter Hollens version featuring Tim Foust (from Home Free). Fun reaction though! Glad to hear something different that's not Rammstein-esque. 😉

Geoff is the bass singer in an acapella group called Voice Play. He also does his own stuff on his channel. This is doubly impressive because all of the voices you hear, high to low, are all him. He records them all and layers them together. The song is from Lord of the Rings. Home Free is another acapella group. Their bass singer is Tim Foust. He is also exceptionally skilled. Here's a link to another Lord of the Rings song he did outside of his work with Home Free. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5OVeYVqbNOje7c This is also done with layering, but a lot of the layers are Peter Hollens, who is singing with him.

I can confirm that there definitely are people with this cranked up loud in the car while riding around. As a matter of fact, my playlist has a ton of Geoff Castellucci covers as well as covers from his group, VoicePlay. Nothing like blaring an a capella version of Nothing Else Matters, Hoist The Colours, Valhalla Calling, or The Little Mermaid Medley. :) Everybody has the music that is currently popular on the radio and itunes and whatnot. Don't be afraid to stand out from the crowd and occasionally let your freak flag fly, man..

"We used to be hip hop, now we're just straight warlocks all the time" Best quote ever. I also loved 'Bardcore". You guys are really perceptive! You spotted right away that there are 4 Geoffs, also you got the correct 'Jeff' pronunciation. Also the comment about it's as if the Boys to Men bass singer was doing his own stuff... well, that's what is happening here. Voiceplay has been around since the 90's, and their bass singer is Geoff Castellucci. One of the amazing things in music today is the rise of Acapella groups like Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voiceplay. Voiceplay are the 'theatre kids' of the three, and lately (since the pandemic) they have been doing more studio work... which means that the acapella work they do is heavily produced for the best quality song they can make, then they produce a whole video production around the song. You saw the makeup work here, that's a Voiceplay thing. I think you guys would LOVE to react to Valhalla Calling. I think it's much more your style, and you'd get a lot out of it. 'Seven Nation Army' is also good, and if you do a reaction to that, listen close to a moment where a round is ejected from a gun and hits the floor... and marvel at the fact that the sound was produced only by humans and microphones. Seriously, 'Valhalla Calling' is a GREAT thing for you to react to! Subscribed.

The song is a cover of a song out of the first Hobbit film (the Lord of the Rings prequel) from the Hobbit trilogy. There dwarfs were singing this, before they start their mission to get back their mountain and gold that was occupied by a dragon. As a first try, you may check out VoicePlay's cover of Valhalla Calling (I don't want to spoil anything, but I'm sure at least one of you will like it at some point.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3qbmYOJiL-GgpY

This.... I can talk about the history behind this particular track for days, honestly. 😅 I wanted to make a dnd channel with celebs of all kinds call it "CelebriD-N-D" or something to that effect.

Kudos for spotting it's all Geoff! If you're ever in doubt, check his rings. In his cover of "Way Down" he actually names his clones. Valhalla Calling (Voiceplay) does the leather tunics, plus a bearskin, and has Geoff going maniacal, plus bars laid by J.None.

Low bass singer... But have you ever heard the opposite? Do you know of the KING DIAMOND. The legend. The king of Metal. Ask any diehard metalfan and they will acknowledge the might of King Diamond! He even inspired Metallica in his youth as part of Merciful Faith.... He can sing high notes like you never heard before! His albums are concept horror albums in full metal braodway sense. PLEASE give him a reaction. And do a live version so you can see the awesome show he allways puts on! -Try Sleepless nights Live at fillmore!!
