Ali G was a precursor to Borat where part of the concept is how far he can get a person to accept his behaviour as normal for his culture and if they can keep their patience. A great one to see is with Tony Benn.

Not really, as almost everyone got Ali was a gag. An Australian comedian in the 70's had a character called Norman Gunston that would do the same thing, only he would crash public interviews with stars and ask then dumb questions. His most famous bit was when Keith Moon poured a bottle of something over him.

This ties in with an observation King Boomer made recently on another recent video - how Welsh and English people tend to have much lighter, inoffensive banter with eachother on e.g. his live streams, compared to many Scottish vs English or (in my geographical context) Irish vs English conversations and how they can end up. It's because there's a less politically charged beef against The English historically. With The English as the invading colonial powers, still very much affecting the everyday lives and recent family history in the two more northern nations. I'd also like to add that I lived in England and enjoyed the culture there. And the humour is world class.

The song wasn't their National Anthem. The Welsh have one of the best National Anthems and it's sung in the Welsh language too. Take a look at it being sung at the Principality Stadium, just prior to the start of a Rugby match. Preferably before they play we English at Rugby, as they tend to put even more emotion into it then?

Sasha Baron Cohen’s is half Welsh. His grandfather was born in Pontypridd, the same place that the legend that is Tom Jones is from, but his father moved to England before Sasha Baron Cohen’s was born. His mother owned a very well known shop in Cardiff called Calders which shut about 10 years ago. Wouldn't be surprised if Sasha knew some of the words the lady was telling him in the clip, even if he doesn't speak the language. Maybe it's the reason he was cracking up as it reminded him of what he remembers from when he was younger.

The "LL" in Welsh is pronounced like this (or close enough): "Thl" followed by the vowel. So, the town where my mother grew up, Llanelli, in West Wales, would be pronounced something like "Thlanethli". You visit Wales and say that right off, and you'll be regarded as something approaching a hero. The problem is (and it's worse with the Irish language, which is a distant relative of Welsh) that Welsh is a descendant of an ancient, pre-Roman language (Brythonic) which was never written down and so has no alphabet. So when the Welsh language revival began after WW2, the English alphabet was sort of tacked on to it (a sub-optimal but convenient solution) so that it could be represented in written form. That's why it is so hard for people who haven't ever had a reason to learn the language to make any sense of it when it's written down! But the language is actually not that hard to learn. Honest!

02:08 in 1999 Wales got its own parliament like Scotland and Northern Ireland. It’s funny because technically under international law of the four countries that make up the U.K. England is the only one that technically cannot be classified as a country, as unlike the other countries, England doesn’t have its own parliament and government. The parliament at Westminster is for the U.K. as a whole, not England alone. So Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all legally countries but England is not! 😂

The National anthem big (not sure if it is or not) can relate to some of his TV series. At the end of the show he has a band/singer on to do one of their songs. At the beginning of the song you know the song, but gradually he cuts in with a DJ part, by the end you cannot even recognise the song as his music is just blaring over the other original song.

Wales has a degree of self-government now, part of devolution. This vid was made before that happened (I think!)

The "Ll" in Welsh doesn't sound like a C or a K. To pronounce the "Ll", you press the first inch of your tongue against the roof of your mouth behind your teeth, then blow. To pronounce the "Ch" in Welsh, you press the back of your tongue against the back of the roof of your mouth and blow. I hope this explanation makes it easier for you.

You are right on the Ll C. Llandudno or Llanbadarn. Clanbadarn or Clandudno.

King Boomer. I would like to see you react to the Insane Doctor Sketches from the series 'Jam'. Jam was written by Chris Morris (Denholm Renholm from I.T. crowd). The whole series is good (but very dark humour not for everyone) and the insane doctor ones should be a good taster for it without getting too dark, so should you not like it you wont be too traumatised by it. A video is on youtube as 'JAM - All the insane Doctor Scenes'

To pronounce Ll, put your tongue up against the back of your top teeth and blow ( it should sound like an angry cat)

Self government just means a devolved government within in the UK. Think of it like a US state basically even though its not.

Most people who don’t speak welsh think “Ll” is pronounced “Cl” but that’s pretty much an easy way for people who can’t pronounce it properly. It’s a unique sound which is done by putting your tongue on the roof of your mouth and exhaling strongly. That’s the only way to describing so I hope that helped 🤣

Not sure who told you but I'm Welsh and the double L sound is not a 'C' it's more like a 'Th-uh' sound. Also, Twin Town is a great film, I've been thinking of watching it lately too. Hope you enjoy and hope you can understand the accents 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🐑🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🐑🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Also I forgot that Sacha Baron Cohens father grew up in Wales 😉

That was just stupid, to be fair to Sean, it was more James putting an instant block on the joke by trying to be to be funny. “Mike is moving to England…. That’s weird” now as a Welshman I agree it’s weird to move to England 😂 😂 😂 but that’s beside the point

@@kazbye79 no it was Tito, I was in Devon in 2008 when it happened. The media ran a false story because let’s be fair, no one cared! 😂 Tito was there for over a month before news broke. Sean was trying to have fun with it… but it was James Corden that just kept spoiling the joke. James tried to make a joke but you can listen - no one laughed at James. Everytime Sean kept trying to push it on, James kept killing the feed.
