The next series starts with a Christmas special. This was the transition point between Rik Mayall and the next stage. Pretty sure he would have enjoyed being what he himself would call a complete barrrstard as his final curtain call.

Mike Wozniak who plays him did A series of Taskmaster and he's pretty much the same in real life :) EDIT: You missed the earlier bit where the music teacher said he got on the wagon before Oliver Reed died. Explains the liquors and then subsequent rampage if you're at all aware of Reed.
