Hi Connor, the three black oblongs behind Hicky are his lap record of 135. 452, his time for the 6 lap race, 1hr 43mins 08sec, and the right-hand one is his time for his record lap 16mins 42.778secs. Last year he upped his record to over 136mph, and bear in mind this lap was over two minutes slower than his record, on a bike he was riding for the second time.

I went for the Senior TT in 1967, Diamond Jubilee. In those days the Senior TT was the largest capacity class for machines of 500cc capacity, half the engine size of Peter Hickmans’ 1000cc BMW. The race would be between Mike Hailwood riding a Honda & Giacomo Agostini riding an MV Agusta. They both broke lap records and Hailwood set a new lap record of 108.77 MPH. The 6 lap race was very close between these two riders. Hailwood won after Agostini’s chain broke towards the end of the race.

Hi Connor, speedometer cables and associated gears are normally removed on racing bikes as they are not manufactured for racing conditions as if it breaks ( and it will) at high speed it will be catastrophic for the engine and front wheel assembly so it's best to remove it, plus you should be looking ahead and anticipating the next stretch not looking down at your speedometer. The LED lights are rpm indicator and Yes that was his front wheel floating in the air for a lot of the ride 😂.Awesome videos buddy 👍

Ha haaa, i love your reaction to this dude. Everyone reacts the same the first time they watch it & yes, that was a 'slow' lap. Watch hicky's lap record lap from 2023, that's is full bananas! For reference the riders say the Ballagarey section is the 'worst' bit which is the bit through the houses that they go through at around 165mph (265kph). They call is Balla-scary for obvious reasons. The scenic bit you were admiring is called the mountain section but may look more 'safe' but it's a very fast section & can go spectacularly wrong. Look up connor cummings' crash from reference. He did survive it just so you know & was riding back on the tt a few years later! These guys are cut from a different cloth!

Yes, that larger number on the dash display is the gear he's in. The highest he seems to hit is 6th probably giving him somewhere around 180mph. Here Peter is just getting a feel for the bike so on some of the sections he is deliberately popping Wheelies just to see how the bike will react. Considering he's probably well over 100mph when he does it just scares the wotsits out of me! This may sound crazy but when at full race speed over a full race distance parts of the bike actually travel 3 different distances. The bike itself does the official race distance. The Front wheel does Less than the race distance as it's physically off the ground, (jumps, bumps and power wheelies). The Rear wheel does More than the race distance because of wheel spin and power sliding the bike.
@neilanyon479210 ай бұрын
I'd guess that when he had the front wheel in the air on the Cronk-y-voddey straight he would have been doing around 170-180 mph - UPHILL. On a typical lap the front wheel can cover around ½ mile less than the rear!

This pace seems crazy to you and me but Hickman could ride all day at this pace and never crash - all of the danger is in the final 2% of pushing.

Out of all the American bike racers past and present only one has ever won the TT. Dave Roper is currently the only American to win a TT Race using conventional internal combustion engine power; the Historic TT of 1984. Riding a G50 Matchless he headed home the field in the only time this class of race has been run. Dave has also finished runner-up twice in the Senior Classic Manx Grand Prix, in 1988 and 1990. As for the circuit, it is 37.730 miles, and the really quick guys can do it in under 18 minutes, and they do 6 laps for their time. As for fuel, the TT racers use VP Racing fuel, it is an American company founded in Texas.
