The segment about the countryside made me think about my friend from Spain. He came over for a holiday with me. It was his first experience of England outside London, which had been our previous holiday. I collected him from the airport, and within minutes, we hit the countryside. He was amazed, and all he kept saying for the first twenty minutes was, "It's so green! I've never seen so much green!" (He was from Madrid and La Mancha). This was February. It was grey, it was damp, and he loved it. Over the next couple of holidays, I got used to driving with him totally silent. He sat there drinking in the scenery wherever I took him. Naturally, having grown up with all this, I was used to it, but I remember one day he asked how anyone could just regard the beauty of the English and Welsh countryside with anything other than awe. His response reopened my own eyes.

It amazes me that the same people think it always rains, then marvel at the lush greenery of the countryside . The two things are related ,you know.

Also, if you want an old pub, visit the Royal Oak in Winchester, a pub that has claims to be the oldest in England (note the old cellar area below bar level, which you can visit), with parts maybe dating from 1002, when it was residence of Queen Emma. Yes it really dates from the 11th century and has been a pub since 1600s.

I live not far from Chatsworth house. Definitely worth a visit. It’s Ali’s not far from Bakewell, famous for its delicious tart and pudding. Also not far away is the AMAZING tiny village of Eyam-it’s worth doing a video reaction to the brave people of this village.

It is England 🏴, Northern Ireland, Scotland 🏴 and Wales 🏴. UK goes with The King, family and The Prime Minister. All four supermarket chains in order they opened Sainsbury’s 1869, Morrisons 1899, Tescos 1919 and Asda started in 1920s but officially opened as Asda 1949.

You should try Chester a Roman town and Black and White style houses. York looks like Harry Potter films made there. Scotland and the Glen Finalal Viaduct used in Harry Potter films.

I've also done the Yorkshire 3 peaks, for charity. To get a certificate you have to do it in 12 hours but you can do it in a lot less than that if you are reasonably fit.

I've also done the three peaks but for a real challenge the 40 mile Lyke Wake Walk is a man killer. 40 miles including a 5000 ft ascent in 24 hrs. Take spare socks, you'll need them !!

Hahaha, with your accent, when you get to London, they'll think you're a Londoner with Jamaican roots. You're gonna get, "Scuse me - can you tell me how to get to the Albert Hall". If you want to get cute you'll reply, "Well man, it's like this, you gotta practice".

In my honest opinion, I'd touch down at one end or the other, and then work your way Up/Down. So if you touchdown in London, work up to Birmingham, Then Manchester, Then Edinburgh and Glasgow. Doing it like that means you're cramming as much in as possible without driving up and down the country.

Funnily enough, there was a discussion on local radio last week about how we British have fallen out of love with sandwiches. Apparently, sales have dropped in favour of wraps and pitta breads. Interestingly, we are now putting the exact same fillings we put into sandwiches into wraps and other breads.
@grahvis9 күн бұрын
Out of curiosity, I once had a fish finger wrap from a cafe. It was surprisingly good.
@karenblackadder11839 күн бұрын
That's probably just the younger generation being pretentious. Same fillings at twice the price. As they grow up, they'll realise nothing beats a sarnie/butty for value for money.

The Montagu family did not only invent the sandwich, their ancestor Edward Montagu suggested celebrating Guy Fawkes Day/Bonfire Night. Marks and Spencer or Waitrose are two of the most expensive supermarkets in the UK. Don't just visit CITIES outside of London ! Many towns and villages are historically blessed as well. The most popular name for a pub is THE RED LION., with over 500 of them. Or we have silly names like THE SLUG AND LETTUCE !

Brits are not as outgoing as Americans but once you’ve made a contact with them then we are usually helpful and friendly. But like all countries we do have our share of not so nice people too. Try to come to the UK in the summer, even though it’s more expensive, because you are so used to the sun and the heat back home.

The snobby or standoffish "idea", so far as I can imagine, it's more to do with people who are a little shy and reserved, I'm not a loud person, but get me talking and I can get a little carried away. The three peeks which she mentioned about, I have done this, I love North Yorkshire, the mountains aren't the highest by any means, but fantastic to climb even for the novice, I have already booked my holiday in North Yorkshire next year, just me with my dog, she will love it, we walk several miles each day whatever the weather, when you come to the UK you have to get yourself into the north, it is stunningly beautiful and more.

Sorry but I can't be too impressed with a pub from the 16th Century because in my home town, Eastbourne, there's the Lamb Inn. which dates from 1180! Okay its not the oldest in the land, but 840 years old is not too bad!

The poor reputation of British food stems from American troops based in Britain during WW2 when there was severe rationing due incredible food shortages. Things have changed somewhat in the intervening years.
