To answer your question about stadiums - the majority of the clubs in the AFL are in the state of Victoria and all of those clubs ( bar one ) share stadiums - the clubs based in the other states usually have their own stadium. The Grand Final is always played each year at the MCG which is the premier stadium in the country and holds around 100,000 at peak capacity - hope that assists

The GAME was great. The AFL is doing its best to destroy it.

@@noone6037 The GAME is STILL great- with or without all the bullshit that comes with a national sporting brand. I remember going to watch my dad play every sat morning for the local team when I was growing up, even down in the amateur leagues the Game itself was great. Some of my favourite memories.

@@JodiellKrakouer I noticed you're talking about memories. I'm talking about the damage the AFL is doing to the game NOW. And not just on the field.

DO NOT CALL IT RUGBY MATE. It's a far more skilful game than rugby. 🇦🇺🦘

The Melbourne Cricket ground, (MCG as shown) is where they play the grand final. Teams in Victoria share the MCG and a couple of other stadiums. Each state of Australia has their own stadiums. However just about every town in every city as well as country towns have their own football grounds with maybe one grandstand. This is because nearly every town plays in a local football league. Seniors, under 9 yr olds,12s, 15s, 18s. In America there is the USAFL which has 40 different leagues around the country, including a women's league. Because it's amateur, it is nowhere near as brutal as our game. It's more a social game with beers and barbecues afterwards. Ring them up, and I'm sure they'll let you play the game. Cheers 🇦🇺🦘

Another thing I love about our game is that the members own the clubs. Well basically. And crowds are all ages and sexes and all mixed up together.

@@MickalNaps perhaps you’ve been misinformed? This is the only version of Australian football. There are several popular football codes in Australia, but they are all different: 1. Australian football 2. Rugby League 3. Rugby Union 4. Soccer

Good day mate. 🇦🇺🌏 I will help you learn about the world. Well at least the parts of it that I know about. I am from Australia, but I have learned about many different places in the world. Australian Football is not a Rugby game. And definitely stop calling it "footsie". Just call it Football, Australian Football, Australian Rules Football, Aussie Rules Football, Aussie Rules or "Footy". 😂 Any of those are acceptable. Even though some of them are used by other sports. Being from another country, it would be understandable if you called it Australian Football, but most American fans are calling it Footy too. Footy is a confusing word in Australia because both Australian Football and Rugby League Football use the term Footy. You asked a great question about the home ground for each team. Back in the past every team had its own home ground. But currently that's not the case for the AFL. In Western Australia the Fremantle Dockers and the West Coast Eagles both use the Optus Stadium 🏟️ for home games. But in Queensland, Brisbane Lions have the Brisbane cricket stadium called the 'Gabba and the Gold Coast Suns have their own place. Same with the Sydney teams, the Sydney Swans have the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and the Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Giants have a ground in Western Sydney and they play home games in Canberra as well. The two Adelaide teams share the Adelaide Oval, but they still passionately hate one another. The new team in Tasmania is having a stadium built, but obviously that team is going to be the only team on the island of Tasmania. However some other teams have been playing some of their home matches in Tasmania, so I don't know if they will keep doing that when the Tasmania team is in the AFL. ?? And that brings us to the AFL's foundation state, Victoria. In Victoria only one team has a home ground that is exclusive and that is the Geelong Cats who are the only Victorian team that is not a suburban Melbourne team. Geelong Cats are a country football team, but it is actually not far from Melbourne. The other Melbourne teams each share just two grounds, the M.C.G. and Marvel stadium. Yes Marvel comics is the naming sponsor for that stadium currently and I think it has a statue of Spider-Man and other Marvel comics stuff. 😀 The M.C.G. is the spiritual home of football, even though it is a cricket ground. The MCG is many things to many people. It was also the site for the 1956 Olympic games. Speaking of Olympic stadiums, the Sydney Olympic stadium was sometimes used by the Sydney Swans for home games. But the Swans were only playing there against the Collingwood Magpies and the Magpies were winning most of the games there. So, the Sydney Swans stopped playing any more games at the 2000 Olympics stadium and went to concentrate on the SCG, which is a relatively smaller ground for them getting a good home ground advantage. Interesting that Australian Football is one of the only sports that plays on different sizes and shapes of ground. The other one is cricket. 🏏 Some grounds are very elliptical and others, like the MCG are almost circular. Geelong's home ground is a narrow ellipse. In the women's football (AFLW) and the VFL (b league) each team has its own home ground. Although I am not sure if that is the case for Western Australia and South Australia, but it is in Victoria. Don't worry about learning about the Geography straight away but it is true that 9 teams are in the same city and they share just two stadia. And Geelong Cats also play some home games at the Melbourne stadia too. If you are interested, there are some nice videos on the subject. And they used to have two more teams in Melbourne, the Sydney Swans were originally from Melbourne and they were the South Melbourne Swans and the Brisbane Lions are a merger of the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions. Fitzroy Lions were another AFL team from Melbourne. This also makes the Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions team's club histories being much older than the teams have been in the city. Like the L.A. Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants.

@@auzknightps4482 I'm an American who's been following AFL since 2012, when I attended a Swans-Roos game in the SCG. I learned a bit before I went to the game but picked up a lot more talking to people next to me. The basics come pretty quickly, and you don't really have to know the finer points unless you want to. For example, holding the ball rule has four different subclauses, but the basic concept can be learned in five minutes. Maybe the first thing every American should learn is that you don't say "root for" an AFL team, because "rooting" is a sexual act in Australia. Gotta say "go for" or "barrack for."
