Hey I'm watching this video from Saint-Étienne ! The biggest players played here and still in activity are: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang , Wesley Fofana , Dimitri Payet , William Saliba , Bafétimbi Gomis. the legends remain: Michel Platini, Salif Keïta , Hervé Revelli , Robert Herbin , Jean-Michel Larqué , Johnny Rep , Romain Hamouma , Loïc Perrin and Dominique Rocheteau. We have 10 titles of France and that is why we have the tricolor star in our logo. The "épopée des verts" in 1976 was the best season in the history of ASSE. They went to the finals of Champions League against Bayern but they lost 1-0. it was in Glasgow. The the mythical "poteaux carrés" (square posts) made us lose the match and we missed out on the ultimate trophy.

Historically, St Etienne is one of the most important clubs in France. They crushed the French championship in the 60s and 70s and were one of the best teams in Europe in the mid-70s. In 1976 they reached the Champions League final, which they narrowly lost to Bayern Munich. At a time when France was one of the weakest countries in Europe in football, their epic touched the whole country. After the match, they paraded down the Champs-Elysées as if they had won. Since then, the club has alternated between the average and the very bad. It has now been in the second division championship since 2022. But the club remains very popular and followed.
