Edgar the Dragon helped me to restart my life. I'd recently lost my Mum and had somewhat shut myself away from the world, a bit like Edgar, I still went to work, but didn't want to socialise and was basically giving up...and then...unbeknown to me, my partner took herself off into town and into John Lewis where she managed to get me the very last 'Edgar' plush they had in stock, I should mention that I was a 55 year old man at the time (58 now) so not your typical person an Edgar plush was aimed at...But seeing that little guy re-join the commuinty in the heartwarming ad helped me imensely in my own effort to do the same, I know it sounds rediculous, but I just wanted to type this out...p.s. Edgar still comes out every Christmas and sits on the sofa with us.

The Irn Bru ad you showed was the original one released 2007 (I think) - the sequel came out in 2019 and shows the boy trying to get the drink back - I won't spoil the ending. When the sequel was made, Irn Bru showed both ads back-to-back to take up a full ad break. The artwork mirrors that of Raymond Brigg's The Snowman and uses the tune Walking in the Air, although as you might guess, the lyrics were changed. John Lewis is a department store so they'd sell trampolines amongst the many products on offer. It's true that British advertising often plays with being a bit more oblique than some, especially at Christmas when they're trying to sell a mood & image as much as a product. The song wasn't technically written for the Irn Bru ad, or rather it was & it wasn't! It was spoofing one of our perennial Christmas classic shows, copying its look & feel, and using the original music "Walking In The Air" but with new lyrics.

I am more than fashionable late to this party, but please watch the 'Mog's christmas'. Judith Kerr, the author makes a cameo appearance in this. As well as writing the Mog books she also wrote 'Hitler stole pink rabbit' about her childhood journey out of Germany as a very young child. It was also part of German literature. Its a lovely John Lewis ad

It seemed Christmassy and someone sent it to me at Christmas. But the ad has a nice message for any audience, so I guess it works well as an international ad that can be easily dubbed. The Lloyds ad was NOT a Christmas advert... but I didn't know that when I filmed the reaction video. That is the problem with reaction videos is that you haven't previewed the material! the thing about the John Lewis Christmas TV ads is they are rarely about the turkey and Christmas pud, we know when the Summer selling season is approaching every supermarket with enough space to display one gets deliveries if flat packed trampolines sadly most of this years ads are somewhat reflecting the mood in the country except of course for Aldi with the continuing adventures of Kevin the Carrot this year it's a spoof of Home Alone 😇🎅

John Lewis usually spend a fortune on creating the best Christmas ad. Most are scaling it back this year with the cost of living crisis. Showing the true meaning of Christmas. John Lewis and McDonald's 2022 is a bit of a tear jerker. But the winner for me is Kevin the carrot home alone theme.

Don't have foxes in the States?! Maybe not in Texas but they are all over up here in the northeastern US (and we'd hazard a guess there in a few other parts of the US). They are fun to watch (especially the young kits at play in the yard/garden). They are not good neighbors for anyone who is raising chickens, however.

They're cinematically perfect. Great story telling in just a couple of minutes. Beautifully produced. But. There is always a but. It depends on who is advertising. If it is a bank or insurance company or even a telecommunications company I react less than positively. Often I get sucked into an ad only to see who made it and I feel... manipulated. I guess that is the point. 😂 But having said that I've been watching programs about ads around the world for years. There's was even a TV show made by the the ABC here (like the BBC) about advertising called the Gruen Transfer (later just Gruen) which was hilarious. There may be clips on the interwebs. I really enjoyed this though. They were all great ads. Speaking of hedgehogs, we went to a hedgehog cafe in Tokyo. I expect to have that video done soonish. Probably the one after next. 🦔🦔🦔 Speaking of foxes. We have a lot of foxes in Oz too. An introduced pest. Not looked on as fondly here as in the UK. But they are darned cute. Georgia's favourite animal in fact. But even here in urban Melbourne I know of backyard chickens being decimated by foxes. Even our local school lost a few chooks to foxes. There is a fox island somewhere in Japan and Georgia expects us to go there next time. 🦊🦊🦊😀😀
