@claireurquhart9451 He was also invited onto a tv chat show in the 1990's called "Danny Baker After All.." I remember watching it as it went out, and Chubbs made a particular point of thanking Danny for having him on his show as nobody else ever had. He has great humility considering his status in comedy history as one of the all-time greats and influential stand up comedian in the UK. Back when being 'offended' by words meant fuck all - and rightly so! You knew exactly what you were going to hear and it was FUNNY!

Chubby is local to me. He's a real gentleman with a lovely family. That's his stage persona, which is hilarious. Btw, over 30 -40 years ago he was playing in a local Catholic social club. They'd had a break in the week before and the thieves had stolen the projector. Chubby walked on stage, saw a crucifix on the back wall and said: I see you found the bastard who nicked your projector 😂 He was never invited back.😂😂

When I was a kid, before the internet, this guy was only allowed to perform in pubs and clubs, because he was deemed too graphic for TV and radio. My friend's parents had a cassette tape that had been recording him in one of the pubs. I think my friend stole it. We listened to it repeatedly whenever I ran all the way to his house after getting home from school. We were in hysterics laughing because we'd never heard anything like it. We couldn't fucking breathe; almost passed out holding our stomachs collapsing every time a good one came out. We kept rewinding the tape just to hear each joke multiple times.

At school here in the UK in the 1980's there were no drugs or drug dealers, just shady dealers selling poor copies of Chubby Brown VHS Videos..absolute comedy legend and my first introduction to him. Not for the feint hearted or easily offended. Mixes his shows with one liners and short stories to have you crying with laughter (with the odd cringe where you can't believe he said what he said!) All in good spirit, he laughs at himself as much as every one else, doesn't matter whether you are fat thin, white black, Asian, Gay, Straight, we're all fair game and too many people over the years have accused him of being racist because of it.
