The first thing about Lee Mack is that he is both highly intelligent and a super quick thinker, making him perfect for this sort of game. It started just as a one off for comic relief - comedians doing a funny version of a word game tv show on in the afternoons primarily watched by pensioners and uni students. Susie and Rachel are on both versions. Susie is viewed as a national treasure, she's been doing the regular show since her 20s.
@YvolveАй бұрын
@@jivekiwi You've seen half the premise. The other half is a maths game. They choose 5 sets of numbers. Big (25, 50, 75, 100 and on) and small (under 10). Rachel then presses a button that gives a random number. They have to get as close to that number, using the numbers on the board. They can only add/subtract and multiple/divide. Along with the letters game, that is the original format, which has been on for a long time and still is. As was mentioned, this started as a joke but was so popular, it was made into a series. If you enjoy this, I recommend checking out QI (about weird facts), Have I Got News For You (about the news, so some of it is quite specific but great banter), Nevermind the Buzzcocks (about music), Would I Lie to You (comedians tell stories, the other team needs to figure out if they're lying or not), The Big Fat Quiz (1,5 hours, 3 teams of 2, about a year/decade/everything) and the king of all gameshows: Taskmaster. 5 Comedians do tasks for points for a whole season. I didn't know this show until my best friend Tim & his lovely wife saved Major & I. Sadly Major passed away, I now have Sergeant, another beautiful Datamation

I can't believe I laughed so many times at the "abdicates" joke, especially when he mispronounced it as if it were Greek.😆

At @10:50, you couldn't have stopped me from going broke with "Thwearing" and telling them to go argue it out with Mike Tyson.

That tension round was really impressive! I was very distracted and I wasn't even in the room! Also, while I didn't care for the "abdicate" callbacks, that opening line is among the funniest moments ever on this show

It's so amazing how Susie knows Saltation is not in the dictionary, but that it would be in the digital dictionary. Blows my mind.
