Não tem como negar que ele é dos maiores defensores da história, mas ele perde em quase todos os aspectos do jogo para Franz Beckenbauer, se fosse analisar os atributos de um defensor, Liderança, Desarme, Velocidade, Agressividade, antecipação, leitura, resistência, saída de jogo, passe, lançamentos, talvez ele só ganhe do Kaiser no quesito agressividade, fora que na Itália não é unanimidade que ele seja o maior defensor, muitos colocam Baresi a frente, inclusive essa seria minha dupla de defensores centrais de todos os tempos Beckenbauer e Baresi, se for jogar Maldini pela esquerda deu ruim pra ele de novo, Roberto Carlos ofensivamente era uma besta…

Italy is known as the powerhouse of defense in football. They have produced the greatest defenders football has ever seen... specially in the 90s, it was every attackers nightmare to face them😆

A escola mais defensiva da história, mas pararam no tempo justamente por esse pensamento do jogo, sem grandes talentos individuais atualmente , eles vivem de lembranças do Velho “Catenaccio” ninguém acha bonito de ver mas por vezes se torna eficiente, ainda assim o maior defensor da história pertence a Alemanha e se chama Beckenbauer, antes que alguém tente refutar, eu tenho todas as credencias possíveis para sustentar oque digo, inclusive fazendo um paralelo com Maldini e Baresi…

9:25 Roberto Carlos was a left back, which is a defensive position, but unlike fullbacks they tend to move forward in some strategies, typically to cross or score long goals. Roberto Carlos was very good at this, particularly the long goals. To the point where, when I was a kid he was actually the official long distance free quicks guy of the Brazilian team BEFORE the actual strikers (and the strikers were guys like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Adriano and Kaká, even them would only do short distance because Roberto Carlos was on the team).

Nice to see Cindy finally getting into some defence now! And yes Roberto Carlos was mainly a defender playing at the left, but he had the gift of insane power shots, pace and passes so he would go forward with the attackers helping the team to score. Not all defenders are capable of doing that so he's indeed an icon!

02:40. Just for context, this game was Brazil x Spain in the confederations cup FINAL, in 2013 (before the wc in Brazil). Spain was undefeated for so manny years, since they won the last WC in 2010. They had an extraordinary team and they were beating all the big nations in Europe. Brazil was considering favorites in this game by their history and for playing at home. If im not mistaken, that moment was 1x0, David Luiz saved that 100% goal and equalizer, and it may not seem like much, but doing what he did is practically impossible, by the rotation of the ball. After that, Brazil beat them 3-0 and as a Brazilian, it was the best game I saw from my team. By a large margin. Invincible Spain, were like children playing against us. Theres ofc the highlights of that final, u can check out if u want. 😆 Loved the reaction as always, and your "quest" in football.

A lot of the best defenders ever are Italian, Paulo Maldini (imo the best defender ever) Franco Baresi, Fabio Cannavaro, Alessandro Nesta, in the recent generation Giorgio Chielloni and Leonardo Bonucci, older Italian guys would say Gaetano Scirea or Giacinto Facchetti (both before my time), Italy has produced some incredible players, especially defenders

If you want to check out defenders in particular, i recommand watching Paolo Maldini (goat defender in my opinion), Nesta (the one who stopped Messi), Puyol (most flexible i have ever seen, one lf the greatest captain who never give up) and Van Dijk (the combinaison of really tall, super strong and super fast, with world class tackling)
