Messi is not a striker he is a Wing forward/False 9, this is hard to explain but to keep it simple his job is to score AND set up team mates R 9 was a full on striker, and today Haaland is a full on striker, they are different to messi If it was basketball players like Haaland/R9 would be Centers and players like Messi would be Shooting guards they have similar roles in the team, at least when attacking, defending is slightly different

Actually, Messi is more of a center forward but plays more often from the wings or behind the striker.

A note on Release Clauses, EVERY player in Spain has a release clause (Usually a lot more than their market value) its part of their law, but in England , Germany , France and Italy and others its not a required law thing, so SOME players have this, but most (probably 70%) do not have them. Clubs a lot of the time (outside Spain) will not want a release clause as it takes away power from them, they tend to be given to players who are A) Playing for a big club and they are one of the best players in the world and they have demanded it, their status allows them to play hard ball at negotiation or B) a Very good player playing fro a smaller team who is looking to get a move to a giant club The release clauses are usually more than market value or the very upper amount of their estimated value , so the club safeguards their financial investment but the player also has the chance to move on to a bigger/richer club if they do well and attract interest. For Example, a prime Messi was probably worth 200-300 million transfer fee, but his release Clause would probably have been 500-700million, which no team can really afford. The Spanish clauses are way higher than in their countries although the best players go for similar money to the top players in the English and Italian leagues. Most clauses in Spain are so high they never get triggered, this is quite different elsewhere as the clauses are usually expensive but not double the market value like in Spain Transfers can get REALLY complicated and its hard to explain all of it simply, but more than half the transfers that happen do NOT involved release clauses and are settled by the 2 clubs negotiating a fee that suites both clubs. I posted this because the guy who made the video seems to think Release Clauses are standard, and although they are common they are NOT standard (unless you are in Spain).

11:15 I will tell you one thing SALLARY CAPS ARE A GOOD THING! MSL DOES have the exception for I believe 1 or 2 players they are allowed to bring from outside (since football/socccer is bigger and more developed outside USA) IMO this is actually a good system to build up your ligue. You bring in outside experience and force the clubs to foster domestic tallents

My dude, Messi just proved once again that the mls is the retirement league.

18:10 To be fair youth football here in Europe is seen as extracurricular activities. Like, here in Croatia even amateur clubs need to have youth teams in order to be allowed to enter higher divisions of municipal ligues

You can't really think that the level of the championship is on par with the European ones just because some champions like Messi come to enjoy their retirement in the United States. It's true that they're still strong, but they come at the end of their careers when they can't take it physically anymore and therefore would no longer be able to make a difference in a difficult championship.

True. You could see it when Messi was at PSG. His stats was nothing like the great times from Barcelona. But Messi is a offensive midfielder not a striker like Ronaldo that is a striker.

$40 Million difference in England between the Top 2 Divisions? TRY 240,000,000 TWO HUNDRED and 40 Million dollars in lost revenue etc. Top teams in England will play around 55-60 games during the season. The "break" is even shorter because in every other year there is either a World Cup or European Cup(EUROS) or South American equivalent (Copa America)...and then you have either a Pre Season goodwill tour or friendly matches so hardly any break at all.

Messi is a great player and he is still a great player who could still play in top european leagues, but dont get it twisted the MLS is still average even with Messi in it and know that Messi is probably 70% of what he was in his prime (5-8 years ago), within the next 2 years Messi will no longer be the best player in the world, purely due to age. Messi to the MLS is a big thing for MLS and it has and will raise the profile of the league, but an MLS all star team played Arsenal in this pre season, and got destroyed 5-0. Arsenal are very good but they are not even the best team in England and certainly not in Europe, so there is still a huge way to go for the MLS Its like comparing the top 2/3 NBA teams with the bottom 5 , its still this kind of gap MLS is a similar level to the 2nd tier in England (the Championship), that's not an insult to MLS either, the 2nd tier in England is probably the best 2nd tier in the whole of Europe, and Englands 2nd tier is better than some European countries top tier. its just England and Spain (and to a lesser extent Germany France and Italy) are really head and shoulders above the other European leagues, and easily the best leagues in the world

It's not soccer, it's played with a ball and you use your feet, so it's football.

Good video but just to be clear, just vecause the MLS has old Messi, does not mean its anywhere near as good as the major european leagues. Even the sexond tear leavues are way better! I like US soccer and the MLS but Germanys second division

MLS is still pretty bad in terms of talent it's sort of a retirement league, Premier League is definitely the best league in the world but La Liga(spain) dominates the champions league, Real Madrid especially

It depends how you look at it. There are over 150 leagues (1st division) and MLS is in top 20 or atleast in top 30.
