TT was awesome for those 12-17 hours. There was no bullying whatsoever. Except for a bunch of shit talking about Americans, but that’s all in a funny way (just look at how it was all “we can finally use kilograms, kilometers and Celsius”). But real bullying? No, that stopped the second the Americans were banned. There is a girl I have followed for over a year on there. She’s from the UK and has a pretty big birthmark on her face. Every video she makes (she does makeup videos, food videos and talks about her hobbies) the comments are riddled with hate. People saying how they would kill themselves if they had a birthmark like that and even worse stuff. During the ban she made a video where she was crying because for the first time there were absolutely no bullying comments. None. Only hundreds of comments full of love. I myself get hate comments in every single one of my videos. Except for those 12-17 hours. There were no hateful comments whatsoever. But the second the ban was lifted, Americans came back with a vengeance. The hate comments got even worse, specially when they found out that they can say what ever the hell they want now as long as it’s not “leftist.”

1kg is what 1L water weights. But then again I don't know if you know what _that_ is. 😅 Here in Germany everybody is aware, that 1L equals 1 package of milk, which is about 1kg. So basically we measure our liquids and (small) weights in "packages of milk". 😂😂 The temperature was 20 "Grad Celsius", not just "Celsius". That's what that little circle ° means. Same with angles. And that's lukewarm. Room temperature.

"Hey, chap" said nobody, ever. There's at least 56 different accents in the UK - you can't just jumble them all up together with a word from one dialect and a word or two from another etc. Seriously: if you want to try to speak like the English, pick someone whose accent you like and then watch them for a little while each day. Fortunately we have a lot of comedians with regional accents so it could be a whole lot of fun. Just - PLEASE - don't try to use a Cockney accent. We still haven't got over Dick van Dyke. And probably never will.😆 (Not taking the Mickey. The part of me that's a linguist dies a little bit inside each time you think you're using an English accent.😂😂. It's practical advice.)
@Thurgosh_OG11 күн бұрын
Actually, officially there are over 600 recognised accents and dialects in the UK. Are you a UK linguist? because you should be aware of this if you are.
@cireenasimcox108111 күн бұрын
@@Thurgosh_OG I am not. However, I couldn't find the source for the figure 600 - could you direct me to it? Perhaps that includes the kind of the variation which subtly can, indeed, pin-point the very street in which someone lived? It may merely consist of a word you've never heard before, or a unique way of pronouncing a particular word. But the person is still speaking the same dialect as you. Just "as we say down our way".

The fact that you were doing a (terrible) British accent, for all of them, even though it was clear, to anybody with more than two brain cells, that most of the posts weren't by Brits, didn't do America any favours, lol. :) Btw, we use 'miles' in the UK. We have pints of beer, not litres and although official documents use centimetres, for people's height, virtually everbody uses feet and inches, in everyday usage. For everything else, we're metric. We definitely don't use Fahrenheit! That would be silly! :)
@AveCaesar202511 күн бұрын
Similar to Ireland where we have a mishmash though we do use Km and litres. But I buy fabric by the yard or the metre, most products have ounces and grams on them and just for fun, the construction industry [my son-in-law works in it] uses a mishmash of inches and cm/m depending on whether they are using large or small measurements. Confuses the heck out of all the mainland Europeans working here until they get the hang of it.

We don't say Celsius because we don't have to differentiate from Fahrenheit, because... wait for it... NOBODY uses it!!! We just say "20 degrees". "It's hot/cold/fair outside" also will do. Ryan, you disappoint me! What do you mean "In countries with AC"? Do you think we don't know what AC is? It's just that our houses aren't made of cardboard, so, the insulation is much better (also double glass windows and, in many houses, central heating). And we don't want to spend massive amounts of energy, too.

20°C is primarily the "standard temperature". Wherever particularly high precision is required in production, the temperature should be around 20°C. Testing and measuring equipment is also calibrated at 20°C. Assuming that "part A" is manufactured at 10°C and "part B" at 30°C (e.g. in a different building), the parts will not fit together. Where I work, the tolerances are a few thousandths of a millimetre.
