That is not a doctor, that is Friedrich Merz, a german politician of the CDU party, who has some issues going on with proper payment. Seems to be consent that he doesn't have any sense for money at all. It's especially hard for caring jobs like nurses, but any person earning low budget will feel similar to these memes. That man is sort of a shame, though. ^^°

about the "Gewürzketchup" - it would be "spiced ketchup" not "spicy ketchup". the ketchup is not a hot sauce but has a lot of spices and herbs in it :)

About the Jesus meme: It's a play on the "Bruder muss los" meme. The original features a man on a Pedalo (the "hoverboard) with the text "Bruder muss los" ("Bro, gotta go"). Since it was easter, they photoshopped Jesus on a Pedalo, leaving the empty tomb hoing "Diciples, gotta go".

Those doctor memes are about Friedrich Merz, a politician, visiting a hospital recently. He is the leader of the conservative party CDU, that is currently in the opposition, and he's known for being a multi-millionaire and having worked for Blackrock while being a politician, all while claiming to have a mid-sized income. As you can guess, the pictures are ones of him during the visit, which he presumably did to present himself as close to the people and all that he isn't. The memes make fun of this by joking that he'd be saying incredibly out of touch things (which I think he would be capable of actually doing). The first meme translates to "2500€/day? I would never work for such a measely daily rate!", implying that the medical professional in the picture told him she earns 2500€ (per month) and he took it as being a daily rate because he's so out of touch. The second meme is him looking at an EKG graph and thinking it's a company's financial graph because he can only think business, all while being quite arrogant (in the first meme as well).

It's about chronical underpayment of healthcare professionals, in particular nurses, the rotten case-payment-system etc. 2nd money meme: The guy in blue is Friedrich Merz, a politician, leader of the €DU party. The fondue machine is filled with Hela Gewürzketchup. And the only people who think it's gross are the ones who never tried it. I'd send you a bottle of the stuff if you had a PO box. Despite Google Translate's insistance, Hela Gewürzketchup is not spicy by anyone's definition, at least not the most popular variation, curry. (there is a spicy one, but generally, people mean the curry flavoured one when they talk about Hela Gewürzketchup)

Weil mein Baujahr immer die ganze scheiße abbekommt. Das fing schon mit der neuen Rechtsschreibung an und ging mit dem noch vorhandenen Wehrdienst weiter. Studierendenbeiträge subventionieren den Uni-Sport und die Mensa. Studieren ist kostenfrei in DE und es gibt in vielen Fächern einen großen Anteil an Senioren (z.B. in der Archäologie und Ethnologie war an der Uni Köln immer 1/3 Rentner)

@J U You only qualify for Bafög if you don't have enough money to pay for University yourself, so generally, everyone can afford going there one way or the other, although there are very few exceptions where people don't have enough money to go to University, but also don't qualify for Bafög, since their parents should technically have enough money. Yet, if they have a business, for example, that is currently filing for bankruptcy, it's possible that they literally do not have the money to pay for their child's university costs, but are in a situation where Bafög also isn't an option. It's very rare, but it's technically possible. Otherwise, everyone can afford going to Uni. And yes, you do have to pay Bafög back, eventually, but you decide at which rate, with the lowest rate being like 100€ a month, as far as I know. Additionally, the amount of money you have to pay back is capped at 10.000€, roughly, so it's always possible to pay the rates and you won't be in debt forever. So, while I haven't seen any, myself, there could be some pensioners that find the idea of studying at a University quite attractive, being able to spend their days learning new things, I assume. Anyway, I'm not an expert, so please take what I said with a grain of salt, although it should be generally correct.

OP said that the University is free, they didn't speak about rent, food, books, bus tickets etc. Bafög is not for the non existing university tuition, but for the basic costs of living. For retired people, these should be paid for by their pensions, no matter if they are studying or not.

The consumption of weed is legal in Germany, but they have made all ways of consuming it illegal. You can't grow anything, you can't buy or sell it, you can't own it. The fact is that in Germany you can smoke a joint in front of a policeman and as long as you don't blow it on the policeman you won't have any problems. The box on the pole at 2:46 is what we call "Starenkasten" (birdhouse for starlings) in Germany - not hard to figure out why - and they are indeed automatic speed control systems. You have to pay money when you pass faster than the allowed speed, but some drivers seem to believe they also work the other way round an that you get some money if you pass them much slower. So they approach the Starenkasten with 100 km/h, hit the breaks because 50 km/h is allowed and just to be on the save side they finally pass with 20 km/h.

He said he would not be rich but either middle class. One nurse student invited him to her (bad paid but hard) work. He promised to visit her. During easter he kept his promise and worked one day with this nurses. Thumbs up for that. But still he is the rich guy who doesn`t help the working poor. So the memes are from his volunteer day in the hospital with the nurse student. Therefor you read things like "I parked with my helicopter on the roof top"

The first meme relates to the fact, that they made the caps in a way they're clinging onto the bottle, recently here in Germany. You cannot just pop it open and get rid of the cap so easy anymore, now you really have to want to ripp it apart from were it hangs on the neck of the bottle. I think that's what's Goin on here. the doctors memes are about this: a german politician (friedrich merz) had promised to help out at a hospital for one day to get more of a feeling of how working there is like for the doctors/nurses. this easter he actually did this, which is where the pictures come from (he is the man in the doctors coat). but the actual background is: this politician is known for being rich, and saying stupid things about money which make it clear that he is totally out of touch with normal average people. for example once he proclaimed that he sees himself as part of the middle class, while he is filthy rich and for example owns his own plane. #middleclassthings the memes make fun of that, either of him not having any sense of money or normal peoples life and work, or of him being clueless about normal hospital stuff while "helping" there. so in one meme he thinks the heart rate monitor is a stock chart. in the other meme he says to the nurse: "you earn 2500 euro here? i wouldnt work for such a low daily pay" (its her monthly pay)

Referring the ketchup meme: Hela Gewürz Ketchup (Curry) is a very popular spice ketchup here in Germany and will often used for 'Curry Wurst' or as a spicy dip for French Fries. What you can see on the image is orginially a chocolade fountain re-puposed as a ketchup fountain for the 'Curry Wurst' ;)

K so the guy you see on the "doctor" memes is Friedrich Merz. He is the current Boss of the CDU. He is a former Blackrock chairman(? - not sure). He once was asked if he is rich and he responded "i consider myself upper middle class" so now (and not only because of that) he is the target for rich people memes. In this foto you see him in a hospital or stuff like that, acting as a "man of the people" which he obviously isnt. Also it is a known problem that nurses and cargivers in general are underpaid. So in one of the memes you see him saying "2500€? I wouldnt want to work for that daily wage as well".

About the doctor memes. The Polititian Friedrich Merz, the one with the glasses you see in the pictures, from the leading opposition party, has worked for one day as a nurse to see what work is like for them. Or to generate good press about him. Probably the latter. Anyways, he is infamous for being rich and having no understanding of what a normal income for normal work looks like. For example one of the memes made him react to a high monthly income of 2500€ as if he assumed that was a daily income and still found it low.

Yeah, the drinks indstry have decided to make the screw on lids so they cant be pulled off easily, it's to reduce plastic waste being disposed of randomly, now the lid gets recycled with the bottle. Any yes, its kown that some people who see a speed trap (catch you speeding) slow down unreasonably slow when they see one. As an ex craftsman, yes, we say everyone else has done shoddy work LOL

As many people pointed out already, the "doctor" memes are about the guy with the glasses called Friedrich Merz, leader of the CDU, which is the largest political party in current opposition. The reason why these memes about him came in high numbers this week is because he visited a hospital recently and worked there for like half a day. Of course its all just show and this guy has no connection to your average Joe's live whatsoever, which is why the memes portrait him as clueless about whats going on in that hospital and only being interested in money. The Fondue Fountain wasnt filled with caramel sauce, but with that spiced ketchup, and the thing on the fork appears to be a sausage. So the guys who made that picture basically created a curry sausage fondue.

The man in the hospital picture is the leader of the largest opposition party in the German Bundestag. He did an internship for a day at the hospital. He made a lot of money with stocks and the price data looks like the EKG lines. The traffic light government is currently trying to legalize cannabis, but since the opposition party is against it, the traffic light does not get the required 60% in the Bundesrat, so they will now do a legalization-light, for which no 60% are needed in the Bundesrat and we not get into trouble with international law.

Regarding the student pensioners: this refers to old folks who receive a pension and are studying at the university. In Germany lots if pensioners decide to go back to uni, because they have time and it’s free :)

Hela Ketchup is not really spicy in a hot sense. There is a green label one and a red label one, the red one is slightly hot. Imagine indian curry mixed with ketchup, so you get a less hot and more sweet curry.

It is always like that here now in Germany not only coke but almost all bottles with plastic lids mainly of milks and oils . The lids or cups is not totally remove... there is a part thtat still connects while opening. The purpose is simple: so the lid or caps will hang and no hassle to put it somewhere, its just stay there safety and ready when you close the bottle again.

The coke bottle thing is an upcomming EU law. Now caps must stay attached to the bottle. The coca cola company was among the first companies to alter the caps. When I came around this new bottle, I was confused. Usually I drink water but I was thirsty and bought a bottle at the train station and at these prices, I refuse to pay for just water. This cap didn't came off and I was getting angry. Now other companies did switched to the new cap. The water I buy (low sodium sparkling water) now has this cap but you can twist it fully off and I always do. Its still annoying, because some plastic bits point out. The law is pretty useless in Germany, because already 98 or 99% of bottles with screw cap do get recycled with their cap but the EU average is way worse. The thing that is different from Germany and most other EU states is that we have a deposit on these bottles. For Americans: we pay 25 Cents deposit on one time bottles (PET) and cans. Thicker PET bottles and Glas is usually 15 Cents and beer bottles are usually 8 Cents. Usually, because there are exceptions. Homeless people and others with very little money do collect them, especially the 25 cents ones, because its pure money and you can make them to cash at every supermarket. Its not that we recycle more as an individual but there are people who pick them up. Collect 2 and you get a bottle of water and one bottle. Collect 4 to 5 and you have a can of beer and one can.

He is the leader of opposition and was CEO of Blackrocks german branch for many years. He has 2 private jets but still counts himself only as upper middle class (probably just a symptom of dealing to long with the extreme rich investors). He typically has no clue about common peoples life and thats what the jokes are about, as it was very obvious why he visited a hospital ordered by his PR staff to show more connection to "ordinary" people (like the 2500 euro per day statement/meme clueless that it is the monthly income of the nurse).
