As a child and teenager, I spent all summers with my parents and siblings on the North Sea island of Sylt. Sylt is known for its nudist beaches, and one of them was right next to the beach we went to the most because it was closest to our house. I'm an introvert, need to be left alone more often and love taking long walks by the water looking for shells, etc. My parents were very relaxed and let us roam freely all day. If something had happened to one of us children, they probably wouldn't have noticed it until the evening, but everything always went well 😅 As a child, I often hitchhiked alone to the next town 😄 Unthinkable today, but unusual even back then. I digress. What I wanted to tell: Even as a child, whenever I came across a nudist beach sign while searching for shells, I would take off all my clothes and continue my journey naked. No one there would have been bothered by a child in a swimsuit, but my parents had taught me three things that I took very seriously: 1.) On the nudist beach (and also in the nude sauna) it is not appropriate to be clothed yourself. 2.) In general, but especially there, you don't look at other people's bodies, but at their faces. 3.) Don‘t take pictures there. Everyone on the island knew these rules. I think the American TV presenter behaved very disrespectfully when he went to the nude beach fully clothed, made comments about people's nudity and filmed everything. That’s exactly how you don’t behave there. At least he could have put off his clothes! Everything "inappropriate" would have been blurred anyway.

So you are watching a video about someone visiting a nude beach and upon seeing the first person there, you are like "what the f..., that person is naked!!! 🫢". What exactly did you expect? The (post-produced) laughter in the background might have given you an idea about how serious to take the video in the first place... More interesting than the stereotypes of Germans being naked in public so much and eating schnitzel all the time, are two things about that video: 1. How did he manage to walk around a nude beach fully clothed (which you are not supposed to do), with a team of at least two people for the camera and the audio (a camera on a FKK beach is an absolute no-go), without being kicked out of that place? 2. Who is that poor guy, who had to apply all the blurring on so many spots? I hope they have some kind of AI for that, otherwise please give that person a pay raise! 😂

That‘s probably because not many young people are confident enough in their bodies to go there, and old bodies are not that "pretty" anymore - at least from an immature perspective. That being said, I have seen a lot of very beautiful and young people on nudist beaches! If you think about it, how many pretty people do you see at a normal beach?!

There are no more and no fewer pretty people in a sauna or a nudist beach than anywhere else.

I have been several times on a FKK-Beach. Especially for Holidays with motorbike it is great, as the luggage is quite reduced.

Haven't been to a nude beach (don't fancy sand getting into awkward places), but to saunas (both mixed and women only), have taken showers nude at public pools, visited our local spa facility on "nude night" ... and I've gone topless on various beaches around the Mediterranean. While being heavily overweight, too. So what? If people don't like the way I look, they can damn well look elsewhere.

Sauna and nude beaches are probably fun and I would really like to be able to use them. My problem is, the lack of self-consciousness and I don't like my body... so, I do feel insecure while naked.

No need to feel bad about your body, go to a nude beach and find out that 99.9% of the bodies there are not perfect, and it does not matter at all.

Trust me: The best cure for that is FKK. There nobody cares what your body looks like and you’ll see a lot of "imperfections" in other bodies too. Unfiltered 😉 There you’ll learn that a perfect body is not everything, and that people will like you and your appearance nevertheless. At first you could try it at an FKK beach far from your home where no one knows you. You are enough.

Nudity is just our body as the nature made it and should simply be allowed everywhere in the nature or swimming pools.

No dude, it waas: Unless clothes are required like in the library or supermarket. Also, while p'nis is used, there's also 'Himmel' (Substitute a P for the H. Need to do it this way to avoid censorship for indecency) or Sch*anz (Insert w for the *. Litteral translation 'tail'). There's also Sch'iedel (insert n for *) or if you want to go semi-kid friendly 'Pi**imann (both * need to be replaced with a 'p'. Literal translation pee-man). Though this nudism or FKK (Freie Körper Kultur - Free body culture) is a prevalent part in germany, I don't think it's more than 10% of the population partizipating and those who do, are more among the elderly and former east-germans, as this was much more part of the east-german culture during the german seperation. And a bit of important advice if you ever do visit such a place, staring is considered EXTREMELY rude and CAN and WILL get you banned, as well as using your cellphone to make recordings and the need for obvious conset to video material needs to be VERY clear. Any action regarded as sexual bc of the present nudity will. You won't get into trouble for accidental swelling, just don't revel in it an etiquette is to ignore it on others.

That was absolutely hilarious! Thanks for that video! -- And, yes, nude beaches are, well: Not VERY common in Germany. It depends on the state you live in. Bavaria, for example, is very restrictive (well, Catholic Conservatives, what do you expect?), the eastern states are relatively free about it, the coastal states also are, the Saarland doesn't care (they're kind of French anyway), Schleswig-Holstein is too cold and wet, Niedersachsen is agriculture, and Berlin is just crazy. Well, I live in Bavaria and not far away is a water reservoir with a nude beach. And we also have a lot of naked wanderer and biclyle biker in our area. I don't mind, I don't care! :)

@@JohnHazelwood58 Me neither, I lived in Berlin for quite a while and I liked the spots on some lakes that were not official nudist places, but, well, some people undressed, and they became more. Hiking or biking naked, well, I think that would rather not be my style, as well as participating in this organized nudity ("FKK-Club"). Everything that has "Club" in its name is a nightmare to me.
