Taking a risk scaring Ali. It was fun to see two big stars from two different walks of life interacting on the Parkinson show.

Freddie Starr was a one off. Wonderfully mad, saw his summer show a few times as a child, the adults found different things funny to us kids! Genius. He ran down the steps on the stage and straight down a hidden hole, superb There's a rabbit hole you have to go down. The only man to keep Ali quiet! Freddie only died two years ago, he was too funny (unpredictable) for for TV. RIP Freddie and The Greatest

You might find this clip funny Squirrel. Some background info on it that's important though! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZjFlIR_iZx1g8U Basically, Rainbow was a very popular children's programme in the 70's and 80's, mainly aimed at fairly young children, think Sesame Street. On a separate note certain people (shows/entertainers/creators) at the BBC, Thames and probably other production companies (I don't know if they still do it) used to create a supposedly VERY internal Christmas Tape, for their Christmas party. Each 'submission' would attempt to outdo each other in how outrageous they could be. This was what the creators and presenters of the aforementioned Children's TV programme Rainbow submitted one year. It is unfortunate that the quality is very poor, but it's the only version on YT, it wouldn't surprise me if this is basically the best quality version still in existence, it was made 43 odd yrs ago! Plus it's not like it was ever 'released' lol, or even supposed to be viewed more than just at one Thames Christmas Party. THANKFULLY, it made it 'out' (even in this state) so that we can all enjoy it! The 'tone' of this is an exact replica of what kind of programme Rainbow was, down to the presenters, their jollity and the opening music.

That was back in the days when guests on talk shows would just talk, rather than be there to just plug their latest film/book etc, with rehearsed questions. Oddly Parkinson only got his break because Peter Cook, a great comic actor and terrific talk show guest, completely failed as the host of his own chat show, and Parkinson had to take over.
