Open All Hours is really underrated compared to many other British sitcoms from the 1970s. There is definitely something really cosy and warm about it, I think it's the Northern Yorkshire setting! Something about 1970s-1980s Yorkshire that just seems really warm and fuzzy! OFAH had a very busy London setting, which worked incredibly well, but this show, along with The Good Life, Last Of The Summer Wine and Rising Damp, are the shows I prefer to watch around about Christmas, me and my dad never fail to enjoy our Christmas evening laughing away to Uncle Arkwright's classic business cons, and poor Granville's lack of women and freedom! Never fails to be f-f-f-f-FUNNY!!! Can't wait for more of these! 😀😀😀😀

Rising Damp has always been one of my favourites. One of the best ITV sitcoms along with a couple of others, Duty Free and George and Mildred were funny. BBC had some great sitcoms with Fawlty Towers, Only Fools, Steptoe and Son etc. However there was one BBC sitcom l hated, Are You Being Served, that bloody woman going on about her pussy!

One of my all time favourite lines, Nurse Gladys "I'm just feeding my mother", Arkright "to something big and hungry i hope" brilliant writing...glad you like this very british sit com..

Despite the division of labour in the shop, it’s always Granville’s fault when things go wrong, and Arkwrights fortune when it’s great. Fantastic reaction…incidentally, the vat man was in the only fools and horses episode ‘cash and curry’. Nick stringer who was Neville played Jumbo in ‘who wants to be a millionaire’ episode, David Jason must enjoy these reunions. Happy belated birthday 🎂 dude

Wow I didn't know that that joke was made here before that other more famous character in British culture made it his own. (although obvioiusly the "Ship of Theseus" predates Arkwright by a couple of millenia). I've never replaced a broom handle before. They last pretty much forever.

"We used to say, if you're going to 'ave a gardner, she's the one to have all right." God that line! 😂 Ronnie B's delivery makes it all the more hilarious. :) Love your descriptions of the clapped out washer and dryer as an "Airplane and a helicopter". hehe Even though I've watched these episodes many times over the years, viewing your reactions to them is like watching them anew again.

Amazing how many miss Arkwright calling the VAT man Mr O’Riley then Mr O’Connor despite the fact he is of Asian descent. The actor would also star as Mr. Ram in Only Fools & Horses that same year along side David Jason.

The series is really getting into the swing of things, now. There's many reoccurring themes that are developed over this and the next few episodes. Well, the rest of the series, actually. It tries to give a little bit of insight and history behind some of the characters, but never really reveals anything as it's mostly stated in a jocular manner, so you never really know whether it's true or not. Not that it matters. It's all done for laughs. Nurse Gladys Emmanuelle is a very strong, forthright woman who always takes pity on Granville in her own inimitable way. Much to the ire of Arkwright. Onwards and upwards!
