As A nation of only 5+ Million people Scotland has produced more inventions per capita than any other nation on the planet! The only problem we have is we are not very good at mass production and sale of our inventions so they are taken over by those who have that acumen and they tend to receive the credit for them! If we do get to the stage of manufacture then they tend to be bought over very quickly by larger enterprises! One such product was the scientific glass wear for use in schools and laboratories all over the world, by Moncrieff glass-works in Perth under the name of "Northern Glass" bought by an international company, that took all the intellectual property and then closed the factory! The Perth factory also made the decorative glassware called "Monart" & "Vassart" now greatly prized by collectors around the world!
