The Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid doesn’t look like the graphic anymore. It underwent some serious renovations that started back in 2020 and is just about finished by now. It is now an extremely modern stadium with a retractable roof and even the field is removable (it is stored underground when not in use). As of right now, it’s probably the most modern stadium in Europe and one of the most modern in the world.

The Puskás Stadium in Budapest was named after Ferenc Puskás. One of the best footballers ever in history. He was born in 1927 and died in 2006. Star of the Hungarian national football team and Real Madrid. In the Hungarian national team, he scored 84 goals in 85 matches. He scored 156 goals in 180 games in Madrid. All this happened in the 50's and 60's. The most famous Hungarian in history. I have a story about him. In 2001, I was in Singapore on a business trip. I visited neighboring Malaysia when I returned to Singapore at the Malaysian border for approx. a 30-year-old Malaysian border guard asked for my passport and saw that I was Hungarian. He looked at me and with a big smile on his face just said: Oh, Puskás, Puskás! - In 2001, a 30-year-old Malaysian border guard at the Singapore-Malay border also knew who he was. Brilliant!

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the first and only stadium to be designed specially for NFL games outside of North America and is officially the home of the NFL in the UK. The NFL International Series is a series of American football games during the National Football League (NFL) regular season that are played outside the United States. It was made by the same architect as the Berlin Olympiastadion The Great Strahov Stadium is a stadium in the Strahov district of Prague, Czech Republic. It was built for displays of synchronized gymnastics on a massive scale, with a field three times as long and three times as wide as the standard association football pitch. The USA has many bigger stadiums, but a different approach to sports causes it. In Europe, a single city contains multiple teams competing with each other. In most of the US cities, there is only one, often for the whole region. That's why a single big city in Europe contains a couple of stadiums from 5k to 70k (London has 21 stadiums), while in the US it's often one very big (over 100k) per city (sometimes one per sport type). The older cities like NYC have more as they grew with the Europe approach. NFL consists of 32 teams. England (not the whole UK, only England) has 92 professional teams. But if we want to count all clubs (so they play in leagues but players dont't get regular salary or contracts) there are about 40.000 of them.

For example, Stamford Bridge, in London, home to Chelsea FC, holds 40,343 people, but has a record attendance of 82,905 from a derby game in 1935. The official attendance at the 1950 World Cup final in Brazil, played by Brazil against Uruguay, was within 200 of 200,000, even though the stadium it was played in, the Maracana, only has a capacity of 73,139 today. Camp Nou is currently under reconstruction. The new stadium will be much more modern, as the previous one was very old. Camp Nou will also be slightly larger and the entire stands will be built up. It is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world in my opinion

Funnily enough, Wimbledon is held at Wimbledon. You might know Wembley because it's a big concert venue too - Live Aid was held there for one (although that was the old Wembley stadium - the new Wembley is around 20 years old, replacing one built in the 1920s). There are videos like this of England's football stadia (but using photos rather than renders) - probably worth a look.

All of these stadiums are build (rebuild) in the last 30 years and are modern with individual seats and are build to respect diferent safety codes. Before usualy in the same place were older stadiums with benches that had much biger capacities. As an example the National stadium in Bucharest was rebuild in 2011 over the old one and has a capacity of 55.000 seats. The old one build in 1953 had in its history multiple footbal games with an atendance of 100,000 people. The highest number of people on a stadium for a game in footbal history was in 1950 World Cup Final - Uruguay - Brazilia on MAracana stadium in Brasil - 200,000 to 210,000 people.

In 1954, 102,569 gathered at Odsal Stadium in Bradford England for the rugby league cup final replay. In its current state, due to local housing, the building of two stands and lets not forget health and safety legislation, it could possibly hold 25,000.

Ian, despite of how many people stadiums in Europe can take, you should try listening at the sound when it has full capacity. It's deafening, specially when there's a local derby.
@publicminx9 ай бұрын
when the first Stadiums opened and more and more spread around their capacities were usually much higher, because of smple seat-'bars' or just standing places etc...most lost capacities due to different modernization phases (more space, more safety, more modern seats etc.) over time (Berlin Olympiastadium shrunk for such reasons from 100k+ to 78k). And over time more modern Football only Arenas (with the exception of sometimes concerts/events) took more and more over as newer concept vs. the old usually all-kind-of-sports (with ash lanes) stadiums. Arenas also have an higher degree of the seats to give a better watch experience also for the higher places) ...

The thing about Croke Park in Ireland is that it hosts only gaelic sports. No rugby, no soccer.

I have been to Camp Nou four times, it is being upgraded now and being made even bigger! Back to what it used to be.

A lot of the older stadiums actually have lower capacities now than their record attendances, certainly in Britain. For example, my club (West Brom), has a current capacity of ~26,000 but I think our record attendance is 63,000 about 60 years ago because there never used to be much/any seating, it was all standing room only but law changes stopped the use of standing terraces in English/British professional football

I visited Camp Nou 20 years ago, the photos don't really show well how in fact steep it is. Here it looks wide, but when you stand there it's a high AF steep bowl, you just can't believe it.

If you can find a way to watch it. I highly recommend you watch Richard Hammond's Big : Super Stadium. It sees him go behind the scenes and find out all about the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London which was featured in this video.

Camp Nou used to be bigger too 106.000 i think & under the 1982 world cup the capacity wad 121.000. They're looking to renovate again ending up at 105.000 i think....You should definitely try & check out hurling, that is just a sport of its own, one of the fastest field sports on earth. It's just insane...National sport of Ireland...

The Great Strahov Stadium or Strahov Stadium, Masaryk Stadium or Strahovský Stadium is the largest stadium in the world. Its capacity is 250,000 seats, of which 56,000 are seats (however, realistically, the entire capacity could not be occupied due to the state of emergency of the stands). Since March 6, 2003, the concrete tribunes have been registered on the list of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic.🇨🇿🤦😹🫡

I'm from Wembley, a small town in north west London with one of the best stadiums in the world! Yeah, other than soccer where it's home for the England national team and the FA Cup Final every year (and other finals) it hosts a number of NFL games and lots of music concerts. You might know it as the venue for Live Aid 1985, Queen, U2 etc. Some of the most iconic music performances in history. Although the stadium has been fully rebuilt since then. Croke Park is definitely not a soccer stadium!

Cardiff's millennium stadium got a retractable full roof, and hosts various events from rugby to the British round of Speedway GP Would suggest looking into Motorcycle speedway as one of the videos you react to as there are some great American speedway riders from the past such as Sam Ermalenko and Greg Hancock and the present such as Luke Becker. Fastest Motorsport without brakes 👍🏻

Wembley Stadium is one of the most prestigious stadiums in Europe due to its long and incredible history it has in sports and pop culture in general. For examples the 1966 World Cup final where England won it's first and still only World Cup to date, Live Aid in 1985 where Queen according to many gave the best live set ever in all of music and many other iconic moments in more then 100 years. Just last year AEW (All Elite Wrestling) a relatively new wrestling promotion in the US made history in selling the most tickets ever for a wrestling show. Setting a new world record that was previously held by WWE for years and beat WWE's record for Wembley Stadium back in 1993 for Summerslam

Stadiums must have at least a certain number of seats to host a world cup or euro final, 3rd place match, semis, or quarters ; or a champions league final. That’s why a lot of stadiums are just above 40, 60 or 80k seats.

Hey i‘m from germany. I was in the Michigan Stadium 2022 and there was around 114k people there. Absolutely Crazy. My biggest Stadium was the signal-Iduna Park in Dortmund, Germany with like 82k or so. But the 114k in Michigan man that was Crazy. Especially the energy in the town Ann Arbor on gameday.

My football team Tottenham Hotspurs, stadium has 2 retractable pitches. One for football (soccer) & one for NFL. It's also specifically designed to optimise the noise from the crowd. From mates that have been to the stadium say it's noise is unbelievable. It also has the longest bar of any stadium & I heard it's the longest bar in the Northern Hemisphere.
