I understand why you have not seen anything like the Emma Stone clip before, it is a very U.K. thing to do. On American television it would be done the other way round. The guest would be told that of course the star can’t be here because… only for them to suddenly appear. U.K. tv often celebrates the heroic failure, the hero who never quite succeed’s, the U.S. tv tends to always want “winners”
