I love how you get Aussie humour Darion. Now to the more serious subject of pronouncing Emu because the American take EEMOO is like chalk on a blackboard to us. Get comfy, relax your shoulders and breathe calmly for a few breaths then on an out breath say EEM YOU, again, EEM YOU. I thought you had it a couple of times during the vid but then you reverted to American. Practice makes perfect.

Her commentary is quite clever but there is a very serious side to the story. When the experiment with vehicles with a machine gun mounted on them proved to be ineffective as is mentioned in the video, a 'bounty' was then introduced by the State government for each emu killed. The problem with this was the bounty hunters didn't just shoot the birds coming on to the wheat farms, they shot emus anywhere that they could find them. Remembering that this was during the Great Depression and there were many unemployed men who had military experience in the first World War, who went shooting the emus. The result was the near extinction of the birds in Western Australia. (So much for the emus 'winning the war'!) Today the emus are a 'protected species' and can only be culled on private property by specially licenced shooters.
