The funniest thing I witnessed at Flemington on Cup Day was a really pissed bloke jumping on the punters club stage, grabbing the microphone and belting out 'Minnie the Moocher'. The punters club blokes were trying to wrestle the microphone off him, and he was laughing and telling them to piss off. The crowd were calling him a wanker until it was their turn to sing. I still laugh about it all these years later. Quintessentially Australian. 😂😂😂
@shmick607924 күн бұрын
Not a horse racing fan or a punter myself, but I went to several of these events in my 20s. Absolute debauchery from about 2pm, once everyone in the general admission section of the crowd is about 6 drinks deep. One year I remember being in the queue for the men’s dunny and a girl joined the queue because the ladies’ room was waaay packed. It was an eye opener for her when we got inside, there were blokes relieving themselves in the long handwashing sink, knob in one hand, can in the other. Another year I recall being in the right place at the right time - very attractive frocked-up lady walking towards me, big gust of wind came through and left nothing to the imagination - she was going commando and luckily for her had clearly visited the Brazilian salon recently. She laughed it off, and I gave her an appreciative nod and went on my merry way. Plenty of brawls, food fights, etc and the odd bloke taking a late afternoon piss on the trackside roses.

Hey guys the second jockey interview is from the Australian TV series 'Kath And Kim' there was U.S. version but it bombed, too ironic maybe. 'The Castle' is an Australian comedy classic, made in 11 days on a budget of $75,000 dollars it grossed over $10 million dollars in Australia alone. Quotes from 'The Castle' have passed into the Australian psyche, 'Tell Him He's Dreamin' translation, tell the bloke from the Trading Post that he's asking way too much for jousting sticks or ergonomic chairs, 'dad reckoned that fishing is 10% brain, 95% muscle and the rest is good luck' no translation needed, 'this is going straight to the pool room' translation, I'm so chuffed with this thoughtful present, I'm putting it on display for all to see, Q 'what do you call this ?' A 'chicken' or 'Dale dug a hole. Tell em Dale' just watch the movie to get the last two. A young Eric Bana is in the cast, my favourite movie ever!

What sort of behaviour can one expect from a mob of people that are given a public holiday so they do not have to go to work to be still paid for the day, and a beautiful venue welcoming all sorts with alcohol laid on in Spades as well as reasonable public transport to and from the venue. Of course there is going to be a lot of people that are just plain maggots by the end of the day. As for the horses not consenting to being trained and raced, if they didn't want it or even enjoy the whole experience they wouldn't be doing fast times and therefore quickly culled from the whole competition. That is how you know that those still racing are the ones enjoying the whole experience. Anyone who is not completely stupid know that you almost always get more out a competitor by using the carrot and not the stick. Those idiots protesting probably have had little to no understanding of how animals think and function. Just because they are failures at sports and physical prowess they want the rest of the world to be so too, stating with horses and other animals.
