The goalie can go upfield for a set piece (usually a corner) in the final moments of a game when your losing. It's a sort of 'Hail Mary'' move. But then have to rush back if the move breaks down. Many a goalkeeper has scored goals or got assists, a goalie can be offensive as we as the last line of defence. The best are brave very physical with strength and agility able to command their area incredibly strong willed. They're also a little bit crazy.

Your 100% right flex, I used to play in goal alot and the feeling you get when producing a brilliant save is equal to that of when you score a goal not to mention a good goalkeeper can literally win the game for your team without even scoring

In football, the lines count as part of area of playing, so all the lines are inside the pitch, unlike basketball where the lines count as outside of the court. This is why for the ball to be out, it has to fully cross the line and, for it to be a goal, it needs to fully cross the line as well.

When I was at school in the 70s one of our PE masters told a story of when he was at college and they did a reflex test using a football. He did it in 1.8s, the second fastest took 1.6s, but the fastest took only 0.8s. The fastest guy was Gordon Banks who was goalkeeper in England's world cup winning team and was supposed to be the best goalkeeper in the world at that time. Banks save against Pele was on at about 8:40

Most football stadiums have goal line camera that sends a signal to the referee’s watch if the ball goes over the line. So no signal means no goal.

For a goalie the warmup before the game is as important as the game itself especially on away games. In those precous minutes you need to learn how the pitch in front of your goel works, where best to position yourself to cover as much of it as possible and most important of all where to put your stuff. The goal itself has the exaact same measurements all the time, but no pitch is ever perfectly even. There's little nooks in places that can really mess up the trajectory of the ball rolling over or bouncing off. So you gotta watch out for those details and adapt your game. And why is it important where your stuff is? Simple: Most players aiming their shot on goal focus on or are distracted by the stuff around it. So if you have your red water bottle in the right corner guess where most players aim. yeah that very corner ;) It's not 100% assured of course but mindgames are as much a part of playing goalie as reflexes and technique 😈
