Aldi was founded by the albrechts brothers, they split the company after a argument into aldi nord(Theo Albrecht) and aldi sud(Karl Albrecht). Aldi nord is the owner of traders joe while aldi sud is the owner of aldi USA. Aldi in the netherlands is part of Aldi nord, so they are technical not the same.

The orange thing is a “paraffin stove” (if I got the translation right). It used to used for cooking, but the one shown is not in working order, just for decoration.

The screen for the window is a sun screen (uitvalscherm or zonnescherm) and are NOT for privacy. Most houses and appartments, with windows on the south side, have them. Heated towel racks can be had for about 150 euros. Also floor heating in your bathroom, or other rooms, is nice.

Very interesting and smart way of repurposing those bridgewatchers houses now that they are no longer needed for their original purpose!

`Putin in a dress´ is the milk maid of Vermeer. The most elusive of all the dutch golden era painters. His works would break all the records if it would be for auction.

Indeed, it's Delfts blauw! Also Indeed, tiles printed on paper (I guess😅). The design on the cups in the bridge chamber is called Boeren Bont. New cups, old fashioned, but well known and still pretty common in NL. Thank you for your comment on this video. You've got my 👍 ❤

P.S. Exactly today I read in the Amsterdam newspaper, Het Parool, that renting out the bridge houses was a fun idea but an unlucky choice. The bridges are operated remotely but the system doesn't always work properly. Now there are extra costs to station the human operators nearby. It's even visible in the video! The operator (brugwachter) is standing in front of the bridge house!

We used to have a checkered sink when living in Amsterdam (North) in the 70s. I don't know how old it was. I think the houses were build in the 20s.

You said you're not rich, but I don't care one bit. It's about WHO you are, not about the money or ego that comes with making a ton of money. It is better to deal with people who have little, who at least share with each other instead of appropriating everything and abandoning or trampling the other into the ground

I am a 63years "young' Dutch guy... I vever knew that Amsterdam converted their bridgekeeperoffices into little hotels. It looks appealing even to my standards. Finaly they did something right instead of trying to get rid of the tourists as their rules and laws became over the last 2 years.

The bathroom heater, also useful for wet towels or clothes, not too expensive, they start at about 50 dollars, not a deal breaker I think. You don't have to be rich to have one..

The orange thing was a petrolium burner. Pretty sure it is there just for the looks. The slots would have contained cloth, petrolium underneath, the cloth soaks it and then it burns. This one looks like it was used for cooking (long long long ago). Bit of a fire hazard by today's standarts. Lol just noticed at the end someone allready explained it. Consider this comment useless then :P Have a nice day

Carpet in a bedroom is not really a thing here in Belgium and I haven't seen carpet in bedrooms in France, Germany, Netherlands, UK. Heated towel racks are definitely not for the rich. Yes, you do have fancy ones that go for a few hundred euros, but this one was a small, plain one that costs 40 to 60 euros.

The vast majority of smartphones nowadays, in fact I'd say every single smartphone worth buying, has NFC as standard nowadays, it's no longer this rare feature reserved only for the top-end flagshiops

I dont care what was done in a hotelbed before me, I know what I am going to do 😈 The orange thing is to cook on, petroleum. It works like an oil lamp, you can see the three wicks. Also nice to heat a place up a bit. Trust is good, cameras are better 😂 Combine the two options and you still pay less for a weekend in Amsterdam then any other option. I would choose to go the bridge house second, just to get the best night sleep last and spend the saturday and sunday more in the citycentre, better still just outside the centre.. tourists brrr 😂😂
